+ 27 Blood Pressure Help
Every once in a while We see a blood pressure question and the truth is, its probably the biggest health hazard when it comes to doing what we do. Most of the young guys running gear, I was one once upon a time, just look at roid rage as kinda cool often and dont really realize it is likely the result of high blood pressure. High blood pressure could be responsible for a large percentage of all disease related to cardiovascular or organ issues. We should talk about it more and in my opinion there should be no single person running gear without a BP monitor. I figured it out many years after running my first gear, I thought rage just meant I was a badass! Lol. So anyway my answer is cardio early and often, eat as clean as possible and take my omega3 fish oil along with a few other heart supps....hopefully everyone can drop in their control methods and thoughts. I happen to believe even blood pressure medication is a good thing if you need it when compared to just letting it get out of hand. It is depreciating you which is the opposite of what we are all trying to do to begin with. A motor that runs nice and smooth that granny drives will last longer than one in Goths ride given he just boils the tires at every intersection and thinks he's so fuckin cool with his dollar store jewelry and his felt hat and gold tip cane! TELL US WHATS WORKING FOR YOU....

I disagree on the grounds that serms can and will raise your estrogen so I dont think its a bad idea to consider an AI in pct or at least when youre done take the SERM
if you control estro on cycle, i mean properly, why would you want to lower already stable levels, pct should be about rebooting natural test function, newbs will fk themselves up worse adding an extra compound (aromasin) they already get advised too much clomid, then they get vision problems. ive seen the other point about adding it in, the benefits are as miniscule as the sweat dripping of my nuts in the winter imo. clomid blocks estrogen at the pituitary and hypothamalus, nolva is similar to estrogen, but it inhibits estrogens interaction with cell receptors, it raise test, we keep its usage as short as possible generall 4 weeks to prevent negative effects long term use may cause, serms if used correctly do not raise estro, if they do, its not note worthy, thats why nolva/ clomid work and have been used for more than 3 decades by aas users, not because someone tried it a couple of years ago imo. oh and lmfao your 22 years old!!
Ahhh sick burn LOL... I read his comment and knew it was only a matter of time lol
lol i stole your sweaty balls comment bro cheers lol.
I noticed dude... props on that impress display of colorful language. I was reading through it and I couldn't help it, I was laughing my ass off, had a flashback.
bhahahaha funniest shit i read on here was that comment you made! cant wait to say it in real life oneday, fkn synthol lol.
check it out dude.. me and you when we step inside the gym..
fk yeah! chalk on hands, mean faces, in and out, other ppls socialising in the gym affects me as much as the sweat dripping from my balls when i squat.... fkn show ponies, lol
hahahah sounds familiar
lmao..... we done the rite thing, it will just be a lost legend of eroids " champion of the minds burner! lol pmsl gold!
LMFAO.... turn that burner up dude.. I'm trying to lose some water over here XD ...off my balls when I squat hahahah
lol!
oh ya...diet also..saw someone said that..that is the number one most important thing imo...but sometimes for some ppl not enough
ive been in a few situations where doc was telling me pressure was way high, but i realized if your arm is 17 or over they cant get good reading..make sure to tell them to get the big cuff...some places wont even have them...ya..my arms were almost 19 and i squeezed it into one of those automated bp machines and broke the fuking thing with my arm size....haha fucking classic..i can only imagine you truly big ifbb type mofos...how could you even get your bp done accurately with a 22 inch arm?haha..anyway, its something to be aware of at the docs if you are at 17 or more...lost of water, but dont wanna hold it..gives me hypertension....i also sometimes run small doses of catapress depending on my pressure...but i dont recomend unless you monitor yourself....bp medicine can KILL you if your self prescribing and fuck up so probably better to see a doc for that.
Celery seed extract, turmeric, vit e, cayenne capsules, good multi. I take these daily and my blood pressure has never gotten out of hand. Cardio is also key! I do 15min hiit 3 times a week and 30 min low intensity on sundays. I can easily eat past the caloric deficit on a bulk and its well worth not having a stroke or heart attack
Water, Low sodium, blood donation, and aspirin.
Should be more than enough.
I find when my blood pressure is high, I usually take aspirin to help thin it out, if that doesn't help any I will donate blood and it's an instant relief for me. I don't usually get high BP unless I'm running drol or dbol. I read somewhere estrogenic side effects associated with AAS causes high BP, so the application of an AI with help decrease the side effects due to the ability of the AI to block the estrogen. If I can find the original article, I'll post a link.
waiterBlood pressure can and should be controlled with diet and nutrition first. Its often as successful and more longterm than meds. A diet low in bad fats, sodium, and cholesterol. While rich in oats, fiber, and a wide array of greens especially raw. Also you should be on a good greens powder and ciaga juice. Also do some research on what kind of diet and supergreens help with blood pressure. I have seen guys in the gym before on blood pressure meds thinking its from the juice. When these guys happened to be borderline obeese. Maybe the juice did contribute but being borderline obeese was more the cause i would bet. Especially my cousins friend. He was on meds before 30 saying it had to be from the juice. Maybe, but if he would have got in shape before doing the juice i bet he would be ok. My cousin is waaay out of shape right now and hasnt started training again yet. He is also on pressure meds. He is 6"0 over 300lbs and blames it on the juice!!!!!!! Rediculous!! He does however have some bulk leftover from liftling days unlike his friend who never had any muscle even with the juice. He was borderline obeese trained halfass at best, got fatter then blamed the gear for being on blood pressure meds before age 30. Im rambling but i do have a point i want to make. If anybody is concerned with blood pressure from a cycle, they should not do one til training and diet is in place first. Not just a muscle building diet, but a healthy diet rich in greens, oats, fiber, lean protein, other good carbs and healthy supplements like a good greens powder and ciaga juice while low in bad fats, cholesterol, sodium and simple sugars. If all this is in place before cycle then blood pressure should be fine. Being in at least decent shape and at least a good bodybuilding diet with good training is standard already before beginning a cycle.I would like to see some more good info on blood pressure diet and foods on here and learn some more about this. For now i hope this helps...B Cool, Waiter
bugjuicer13Im pretty sure i was getting majorly pissed. I do have high blood oressure. Glad to have a little more insight. Thanks
I agree to all of that. A 'silent killer' indeed. I take my bp EVERY DAY, manually, not with one of those crap digital ones. If you don't know how to do it manually, it is worth your time to research it...even at the doctor's office, I have been checked on their digital unit, read high, then had it done manually. Huge difference! Personally, I use Omega 3 fish oils, triple strength, once a day...niacin to clear fat from blood. Knock it if you want to, but my labs show I'm doin' something right:) Take care
Search "University of Maryland Garlic". There is a May, 2013 research paper that states Garlic can lower blood pressure from 5 to 8%. From reading a story in the UKdaikymail a September, 2013 piece has a researcher claiming Garlic pills can lower BP up to 10% in 12 weeks if taken in dry pill form. He claims one would have to eat 30 cloves to get the same dose as a pill and they weren't sure if the fresh Garlic worked. I guess they couldn't find a poor sap to choke down 30 cloves a day to see if it worked or not. Who knows. I see a few posters have Garlic in there regimine and there is some supporting data that it works.
Well, I had to go to the Dr today to get some real cough syrup (this chest deal has gotten worse again). Anyway, been taking the tumeric and doing cardio most days for more than two months now and I am happy as hell to say my BP was 120/80. Awesome!
The best BP meds are ACE inhibitors. One proper dos a day regulates both systolic and dyostolic pressure. There is no pissing problem like with alpha blockers and no weight gain as with some Beta Blockers.
These drugs usually end with the letters "Ril" eg. Accupril, Quanapril, Elapril etc.
Hope this helps.
Good info brother. +1
Tadalafil clean diet and cardio fixed my bp issues pretty quick on cycle, I do 45-60 minutes cardio Ed, and 15 mg tadalafil.
I'm 40 and my doc put me on a diuretic (microzide) for blood pressure a month ago. I hate that crap. I have to piss all the time. I stopped taking it 2 weeks ago. I go back tomorrow so hopefully I can get something else. I have started taking fish oil 4x daily and doing cardio every workout. I wasn't doing cardio for a while because I didn't want to burn excess calories because I'm bulking. That was stupid of me. Guess I wont have to worry about getting big if I have a freaking heart attack. I need to eat cleaner also. Guess us old farts need to worry a little more about our "healthy as possible" before "big as possible"
BigBmajThere is a lot you can do to manage that naturally. Take a look around.
Do you know how many guys including my self on occasion, completely disregard cardio work. It's not fun but gotta be done . Tumuric works for me when diet and cardio don't work on a tren cycle. I'll take a whole spoonful of tumuric then gtg. You can buy it at your local grocery store
All I know is iam 43 been takin gear over 20 yrs gettin ready for shows and offseason or in really good shape when ur on it goes up I monitor it and take bp meds while iam on, it runs in my family and it only is hi when iam on , and btw the b/p meds giv me bad sides but thats better than high bp
Aspirin gave me crazy nosebleeds and cialis is way too strong, I can't work out on cialis.
Just lowering bodyfat/weight helped me a lot. And reduce water retention.
Taking an occasional aspirin or two is safe for most adults to use for headaches, body aches or fever, daily use of aspirin can have serious side effects, including internal bleeding which you face via nose bleeding. I think you third step of lowering body fat is the best thing you did for your heart and BP. I am sure you are doing great now.
AAS cause platelets to aggregate which can lead to a blood clot. Low-dose (baby) aspirin prevents platelets from functioning, thus reducing the risk of a heart attack, stroke, etc. At that low dose the risk of excessive bleeding is minimized and the potential benefit outweighs the risk.
Doxazosin is what I primarily use for blood pressure, low dose, 1mg twice a day or 3x daily.
Cialis is part of a NO stack I was referred to.
My blood pressure was quite high, introduced low dose aspirin followed by low dose cialis, it is now spot on !
No longer taking aspirin as I was never a fan of how dangerous it can be, 10mg cialis in the morning and at bed time, works wonders.
After two weeks of cardio every day I stopped back by the Dr's office to have my BP checked again as per his wish. To my surprise it came out normal 130/80. The nurse was telling my that them 13" monitors will always read way high on us. I asked her before we started if the monitor she was using on me was the right size? She laughed.
Less than a week later BP was spiking again. I drained off the better part of another pint. I imagine that I cannot do that again next week now if it spikes again. I felt it come on after benching last night at the gym. It was slightly elevated earlier in the day but then blew up. I bought the BP monitor but of course it is one for only 13" arms, it seems to go on ok tho and works.
Does our pump from working out effect our BP reading? Also, at what point is it too high?
why are you draining blood? Have you ruled out all other options besides it being due to high rbc? I highly doubt thats your issue unless you have been on EQ for a year at 2gs a week. Sounds like your bp could be from other things. Have you had your cholesterol checked?
Yep everything was good. It was also good on Test alone, I am suspecting the 1test cyp. I picked up some turmeric today as well. I will be getting week 4 bloods done this week as well.
oh I'm sure 1-test raises rbc as well it's a boldenone/primo derivative but I'd still rule out all other options before draining blood
This is the most important thread on this forum.
Here is what works for me.
The first, and sort of a fix, not a cure is beet juice. Buy a juicer that is easy to clean so you are more likely to stick with it. I prefer over a cup of red beet juice per day, with apple / carrot added, some ginger to help with digestion, and some lime. Total volume of about a pint (.5 liter). There is easy to find research that this should help.
The next is making time for breathing.
Breathing is not going to make you less manly, and if you are worried about that there are probably other issues you need to resolve that may help your blood pressure. Back to the breathing part, other side effects besides lower blood pressure might be that you are able to think clearer, be a little nicer to others, or hopefully help you tolerate assholes everyday life. Find 20 minutes a day to lie down on something firm, or sit comfortably. Start with 10 minutes to just observe the breath, don't try to change it. If you are able to do that, work on evening the inhalation and exhalation, with as little effort as possible, nothing forced. When you have that down, and don't rush to get to this part – this is where it starts to lower blood pressure – concentrate on making the exhalation prolonged, quiet, without effort. Spend about 10 minutes on this, then a couple of minutes just observing your breath quietly. If someone were next to you they should not hear your breathing, but you should be able to hear your own breath. If you have that down, try pauses during the exhalation - not forceful stops, just effortless pauses - but this is something to work up to over months. Eventually learn to pause at the end of exhalation before inhalation. If you ever get to the point where you gasp for air you pushed it too far and basically ruined what you were working on. Don't worry, just learn and try again. Take normal breaths if it is becoming stressful.
If you are too busy for 20 minutes, try 10. It will help, but not half as much.
If you go to a gym, and take a workout type yoga class where they mention Pranayama, what they are teaching is the WRONG way, it is DANGEROUS. I understand what they are teaching, often concentrating on a warming prolonged inhalation, and forced exhalation. There is a place for that, but not for people with high blood pressure. Those are meant to heat the body, and remove waste though the respiratory system. OK, they do those things, and they are good for those with depression, but...they increase blood pressure. The teachers think they are teaching something correct but they are wrong. The instructors have been told that what they are doing is correct, by another teacher that thought they were doing the right thing. They have their three sentence memorized piece of information that they absolutely believe is the truth. What they are teaching is something that fills classes and makes money, leaving the students with what they felt was a good workout, in a good mood or just so exhausted they don't know what they feel. They are not addressing the blood pressure issue.
Exception: if people are not getting any exercise at all, and only doing this thing they call yoga, then that as a form of exercise will be better than nothing. Some students will have lower blood pressure as a result of them getting off their asses and doing something.
If you have high blood pressure, for inhalation - concentrating, prolonging, and especially holding the inhalation is wrong. Don't do it. If you have healthy blood pressure and depression, give it a try.
To lower blood pressure, the breathing must be very calm, concentrating on an easy, prolonged exhalation. Measure the difference with a blood pressure cuff and consistent practice. It's not just the minutes immediately after breathing – which is not surprising, but 8 hours later it is even lower than immediately afterwards after a few days.
My blood pressure had always been low, but since being on TRT for over a year aiming to keep levels around 550, and HGH at low doses – never more than 10 IU per week but blood testing IGF-1 in the 300's, and my age keeps changing... I can have days where I hit 148/99. 36 hours back into my routine - I'm down to a 30/25 reduction. Honestly much better, if I don't miss days, my blood pressure runs below 105/ 65 – actually lower on occasions, but not consistently. I would say a real 110/70. This is taken hours after, not just minutes after I get done with the breathing.
For $20 you can find a manual blood pressure cuff but you will need to learn to do manual readings with one that cheap, and that's not a bad thing. You may want to ask the pharmacist for help with the purchase, pointing out your magnificent biceps will not fit the model for mortals available on the shelf. If you have a flex spending account, that should cover it even without a note from your doctor. If you are not sure how to use it, ask your doctor. He / She will think you are serious about your health.
I am not discounting the importance of cardio and diet. I take tumeric extract 3x day, have for years, rumors it works for BP, I was taking it for joints and liver.
This is what works for me, and I don't think it will hurt others.
this is very interesting to me and will give it a go. I need to get a monitor and get into a doc. I've always had some paranoia about my heart and high BP. Every time I've gone in and even had ekgs, they say I'm fine, but I get sharp pains in my chest. I don't say this out loud but always think in my head that I'll likely die from a heart attack.
A BP monitor costs almost nothing, and you can see what works, what doesn't, what time of day you need to chill, etc. . If you buy one, and ask your doctor if you are using it correctly I would hope your doctor would take your concerns seriously, and give professional advice. This forum may have some ideas, but it isn't a substitute for having a professional, that isn't yourself and your own interpretation of what you think is right or wrong. Your own opinion is very important, but your doc may have some ideas that will help.
My father developed elevated blood pressure when I was about to become a teenager, sorry Dad. He was the first one to give me a cassette tape of breathing exercises for stress. I did ask him recently and he is still enthusiastic about how well the breathing exercises work more than 30 years later. I was mentioning which type were good for blood pressure, and he is doing the opposite because it has a more profound effect on mood. I'm not going to tell him what to do.
I would edit the post if I could, but I should mention those breathing exercises are not for people with depression or fear of death.
My BP has been running high for a couple weeks. Well today I had a regular scheduled check up with my Dr, BP came in at 158/93. So he knows something is up, we danced around a bit but now he wants me to come in every week to see if I need to be on BP meds. When I got back home I figured I better take a shot at draining some blood off. I used the 18gauge spear and a measuring cup so I could keep track. The spear slid right in and it was game on. Filled up over one cups worth (1/2 pint). RBC must be cranked because that shit was thick!
After cleaning up my crime scene I do feel a bit better, wish I had a BP monitor to see how big a difference it made and so I will know if I need to take more next week before I go placate my Dr..
Hey Tread I've been having high BP lately I think due to the HGH that I added. Also a lot of stress and other factors. Anyways I'm sticking around 143/85 which is not horrible but not good either.
I have a family history of high BP and have had all my life borderline. The aas use slightly increases it, on cycle it goes up 10 points or so (I'm usually 130/80), and more if I'm using high dosages and multi compounds. So I've been trying to keep things cool and focus more on keeping sides down even if it means lowering dosages.
So I can't take fish oil. It gives me horrible heartburn. So bad that I can NOT take it at all. Do you have any other suggestions besides fish oil? Would you recommend me getting a rx for lisinopril? That's what my dad takes and it helps him out. I know I'm young but I also know high BP is dangerous. I just want to nip it in the bud before it gets worse. Hopefully supplements alone will be enough to bring it down.
Thanks
j223, have you considered using algal (algae-derived) EPA/DHA? It is more expensive than fish oil but perhaps it would not cause heartburn for you. Can you eat fish? Check out iHerb or Amazon for vegetarian omega 3's.
Also, I have just recently been considering lisinopil, too. I am going to look into it more. My BP is much higher when on steroids. And I never go off.
BigBmajHave you dropped your sodium intake yet?
I increased my potassium intake and increased water intake. Slightly decreased sodium but not much. Also I think my BP was high from the stupid blue tops I was using that shit made me retain water which pissed away after I switched to hyges. Feeling much better now my BP is at 130/72.
AnonVery well written tread. It is very foolish behavior that guys think "Roid Rag" is something kool. You can even see it in the court system when people are using "Roid Rage" as a cop out to their Immature behaviors and actions. If you are not mature enough to contain yourself and carry yourself in a professional manner while using steroids, then maybe you should not be using it. Clearly this is a problem for us that use and still have professional jobs. I myself work in a professional environment and have to make sure that these factors never come into play. Its pretty simple,IF YOU ARE NOT MATURE ENOUGH TO ACT LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING ON STEROIDS, DON'T USE THEM..
AMEN!
True that blood pressure can be controlled and managed with healthy eating, exercising and leading a healthy life. High blood pressure is related to genetic also. If your parents or grandparent have high or low blood pressure problem there are 100% chance that one day you will be taking your BP med.
Many researchers say that BP or hypertension is related to genetic, DNA, family history with other factors like bad lifestyle, pollution, chemical exposure, no exercise etc. The researchers have put forward the conclusion that newly discovered genetic regions are potential targets for future treatments.
