+ 27 Blood Pressure Help
Every once in a while We see a blood pressure question and the truth is, its probably the biggest health hazard when it comes to doing what we do. Most of the young guys running gear, I was one once upon a time, just look at roid rage as kinda cool often and dont really realize it is likely the result of high blood pressure. High blood pressure could be responsible for a large percentage of all disease related to cardiovascular or organ issues. We should talk about it more and in my opinion there should be no single person running gear without a BP monitor. I figured it out many years after running my first gear, I thought rage just meant I was a badass! Lol. So anyway my answer is cardio early and often, eat as clean as possible and take my omega3 fish oil along with a few other heart supps....hopefully everyone can drop in their control methods and thoughts. I happen to believe even blood pressure medication is a good thing if you need it when compared to just letting it get out of hand. It is depreciating you which is the opposite of what we are all trying to do to begin with. A motor that runs nice and smooth that granny drives will last longer than one in Goths ride given he just boils the tires at every intersection and thinks he's so fuckin cool with his dollar store jewelry and his felt hat and gold tip cane! TELL US WHATS WORKING FOR YOU....

AnonAs what i learned in nutrition every vegetable has phytosterols and oatmeal has alot of it, phytosterols cleans ur arteries by breaking down the cholesterol therefor allowing HighDensityLipoprotiens aggulate to cholestrol and taking it to the liver where it can used for many things including the production of testosterone
So as long as u eat 5serving of vegetables and consume at least 45g of mono and polyunsaturated fats and limiting saturated fats to 20g aday, vitamin wise niacin is the shit make sure you get the mosy bioavialble one which if im not mistaken its nicotinamine, also vitamin B5 helps your metabloism at the electron transport chain process fats better and burning them more for fuel and therefore also lowering ur bad cholesterol get B5 patheol or patheotic acid sorry for mispelling in med school we dont get graded for spelling but for the idea of knowing what the hell is right for your body.
Cardio of course helps alot by acclerated ur metabolism,
water helps ur digestion, absorbtion of protien and help deliver nutrients for effciently and also helps having a perfect pressure in arteries to not let cholesterol accumilate.
Excellent post, sometimes it's easy to rely on supplement after supplement when deficiencies in ones diet if taken care of can make a big difference. Relying on a lot supplements and vitamins can cause further stress to the liver and kidneys when being processed as well as the possibility of causing side effects, imbalances etc.
AnonYes i agree depending on the supplement the liver nutrilizes everything by the use of enzymes the more prescription drugs u take the more enzymes get elevated, kidneys filter ur blood and help blood pressure ,too much of a prescrition drug can cuase stones, kidney failure, and more problems
I don't know if anyone mentioned this in the thread but many of us bigger guys need to have our bp taken the oldschool way with a sphygmomanometer and a large cuff. I was getting consistently high readings with wrist bp monitor but when I went to my Dr. he said that the on guys my size a large cuff had to be used. It was only 128/74 taken this way. I control my bp with cardio, water intake and sodium limiting. I learned from my Dr. to only salt food after it's on the plate. I now cook with no salt at all.
2 weeks ago my bp at 28 years old was 158/87 ... just took it a few mins ago and its 120/79!
1200mgs fish oil 2x day
200mgs coq10 2x a day
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar 3x day
light steady state cardio, mostly clean diet, and religious training coupled with this regimen have brought my bp down to damn near optimal range. this morning i added in 81mg aspirin and will be buying niacin tomorrow to add as well (props to makavelicd). VERY happy and relieved its under control, even when finishing up an EQ cycle
Like meister down below. Donate plasma after your cycle... your hematocrit levels (RBC) count will be thru the roof using EQ, (Mine were) ...... But yes, using aspirin 81mgs and vinegar brought my BP as low as 100/60.... keep up the good work my man ;-)
i actually donated plasma for the 1st time in like 6 years on friday! i took my last shot of EQ last friday, but still runnin test for a few more weeks so not quite finished with my cycle. but dude, donating plasma and blood are 2 different things entirely ... plasma is just the fluid portion of the blood - all your rbc's, platelets, and wbc's are returned to your body so i dont know if it would have the same benefit of lowering hematocrit levels unfortunately.
i decided to start doing it to help pay for my cycles, then my wife cant be mad im spending our $ we earned from working on gear lol. its a win win sitch - shes happy, im stocking up on gear so im happy too, and its helping ppl!
Your right, you should be donating whole blood. I get confused sometimes, LoL
But yes, I always do whole blood donations about every 60 days or so.
Plus... you are benefiting people with leukemia and other blood diseases that need frequent transfusions.
So big ups nooka!!! GIVE LIFE BITCHEZZZZZZ!!!
I do cardio and eat extremely clean, but coming off of this cycle I have been having a few BP issues. I take "cycle support" to assist with BP help, but something went wrong this time. My red cells were high and my liver factors were high. Liver is most likely due to the amount of ibuprofen i take to fight joint pain (Ranger Candy) and the red cells from being on cycle. I donated blood today in hopes of helping resolve the situation, but I'll see the doctor again tomorrow and see what everything look like.
First BP reading: 147/92
My Normal: 117/64
Any other suggestions, let me know.
Ursodiol (UDCA) or tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA) are probably best for AAS induced liver enzyme elevation. Ursodiol is by prescription, but I think ar-r carries it. TUDCA is an over the counter supplement that is almost as effective.
Liv52. I used to think this was just another supplement but it turns out that it has been proven to decrease the progression of cirrhosis (end-stage liver disease) as effective as traditional prescription meds - check PubMed. It is genuinely effective at offering liver protection.
NAC, N-acetyl cysteine. Offers both liver and kidney protection and is used medically for such purposes in certain instances.
I've never used Liv52 bc I happen to have plenty of UDCA and NAC around. I take about 500-1000mg of UDCA per day when cycling and 600-1200mg of NAC. It depends on whether I'm using orals or not.
Regarding red cell elevation, you can look for donation centers that allow you to donate double red blood cells. This way they take out the same amount of blood volume but with double the amount of red cells. It will save you from repeat trips. When you donate blood, they take about 1 pint and the average male has about 10 pints of blood. So this is not a very significant amount if you have elevated red blood cells.
Regarding elevated BP, I'm not familiar with over the counter remedies for such but if you'd like help picking a prescription med that's best for you I can help. I always use one on cycle. But to find the best BP med I would need to know just a few things, like blood pressure range (you would need to take your BP twice per day at home or work for a week, which is super easy with automated cuffs), average heart rate, and any other meds or supplements you're on. Feel free to FR me if you'd like more help.
Btw, I know my karma doesn't make it seem like I'm particularly knowledgeable but I don't post here much after I got flamed the first two times. I do have extensive medical education and training however and am always happy to help out.
Hawthorne berry, coq10 for OTC blood pressure fixes.
"Drinking a daily glass of beetroot juice could be the key to preventing high blood pressure, researchers say.
A team from the University of Reading found that even small doses of beetroot juice lower blood pressure.
High blood pressure (BP), or hypertension, increases your risk of having a heart attack or stroke, the leading causes of death in the UK.
Previous studies showed that drinking 500ml of beetroot juice led to a reduction in blood pressure over 24 hours. However, the latest study sought to find whether the same effect could be gained from a smaller and more drinkable dose.
They found consuming just 100g caused a significant lowering of blood pressure in the short-term (0 to 4 hours) and longer term (0 to 13 hours).
Bread enriched with a similar dose of both white and red beetroot also reduced the level by a similar margin.
This effect is attributed to the high nitrate content of the beetroot, a chemical that when ingested becomes nitric oxide which increases blood flow and keeps our blood pressure (BP) low.
The study also looked at the impact of betalains, the pigment responsible for the deep red colour of beets. Researchers found red and white beetroot, which does not contain betalain, had an equal effect.
Professor Julie Lovegrove, of the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences at Reading, said: 'This new data strengthens the evidence for a beneficial effect of nitrate-rich foods in lowering BP, even at relatively low levels of dosage.
'Processing beetroot during bread production did not significantly impact on the effects of reducing BP, and our studies suggested that nitrate in beetroot contributed to BP reduction, whereas betalains had minimal impact.
'Further, enriching bread with beetroot may provide a useful vehicle to increase beetroot consumption, particularly for those people at risk of cardiovascular disease.'
The study, Beetroot juice, beetroot enriched bread and blood pressure, appears in the British Journal of Nutrition.
It comes just a day after scientists found bread made from seaweed can help dieters as it makes you feel fuller and reduce the amount you eat during the day.
Men who ate seaweed bread for breakfast consumed 179 fewer calories during a day ? equivalent to a treadmill workout, according to a study from Sheffield Hallam University."
i drink fresh vegetable juice with beet in it is that the same as what yr talkin about?
So I just had mine tested today, I've always had high bp( prehypertension area) and have ran tren a few times and never really had a bad issue with it but this time two weeks into cycle my body was 168/110 and that was the lowest reading out of 3,.... so I made a Dr appointment and probably going to drop the gear for the time being...... has anyone had tren jump it up that high in such a short time...I'm at 100 mg of tren and prop eod
yea tren is killed on BP.
I normally take a beta- blocker (selective, similar to metoprolol) for hbp but I have to add Cardura when I cycle. Cardura is strong stuff and I have the second to highest dose. it has an additional advantage of shrinking the prostate ( or preventing it from growing).
Controlling BP is always recommended whether through low salt diet (less than 2gm per day), aerobic activity, and/or medication (under a doctor's supervision). If you're pulse is fast too, consider something like a beta-blocker (and if u have asthma then make sure it's a selective beta-blocker, such as nebivolol, metoprolol, and atenolol). Non-selective beta-blockers, such as carvedilol or propranolol are generally not considered first line agents in treating HBP. Otherwise first line BP meds also include:
1) Diuretics, like hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), if you don't mind the constant peeing. And somehow it still works even if you drink plenty of water (except in heart failure patients).
2) Angiotensin 2 Receptor Blockers (ARB's) - the generic ones are losartan, irbesartan, and eprosartan
3) Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors (ACE-I's) -they work similarly to ARBs but with increased side effects. They are less expensive however. Almost, if not all of them are available generically.
ARB's and ACE-I's should not be taken in women of reproductive age bc of birth defects.
ARB's and ACE-I's are often found in combo pills with HCTZ because they have a synergistic effect. I think these combo pills are the best for AAS users without a rapid pulse. But they will make you urinate a lot so you need to drink plenty of water.
4) CCB's are also considered first line, but specifically amlodipine (Norvasc). Most of the other CCB's are not considered first line treatments.
5) Tekturna is a direct renin inhibitor that has been approved for first line use. But it only comes in brand and has only been out for less than 5 years I think.
I know many ppl like clonidine bc it can be closely titrated, but it needs to be taken more than once per day and can be too strong for some ppl, even at its lowest dose. It's also not considered a first line BP med.
Also, definitely invest in a blood pressure cuff.
anybody on this forum isn't a stranger to substances. I have naturally high blood pressure as well as unnaturally high blood pressure whenever i'm on any cycle. What I've done is i get me some tadalafil (cialis) which i recommend to everybody. The benefits are ridiculous, they're not just for old men with E/D issues. The extra nitrogen tadalafil provides your body with lowers your blood pressure, makes you pumps incredible in the gym, and has been shown to be a preventative medicine in heart disease since it lowers inflammatory markers in your artery walls. Blood pressure is the silent killer, and is the main cause of kidney issues amongst body builders in my belief. On top of a good PDE5 inhibitor, lots of cardio, plenty of water (but not too much since retaining water will cause high BP) green leafy vegetables, fiber, and potassium work for me.
Ive never done any research on stuff like viagra or cialis, so this could be stupid but i always thought that they raised your bp to help you achieve and maintain an erection. Like i said ive never done research on it so again im sorry if that sounds stupid, but to me it kinda makes sense.
nope, they lower your blood pressure which is why they say tell your doctor if you're taking nitrates as it may cause an unsafe drop in bp. what happens when you take viagra or cialis is more blood gets trapped in your little soldier. This is caused by the medicines' effect on nitrogen retention, it inhibits an enzyme that breaks down nitrogen in the body. Definately look into it though to make an informed decision.
Ya ;earn something new everyday! Thank you.
If you notice your blood pressure in elevated due to steroids, you can contact your doctor and ask him to try you out on a dose of LISINOPRIL. LISINOPRIL is an (ACE) inhibitor and will not effect your cycle in anyway. It's a very good drug for hyper tension and works for a lot of people. HCTZ is another good choice they can be used side by side if you have sever hyper tension or by its self. Figuring out what meds can and will bring your blood pressure down is a big game of trial and error. I just know these two can be used while on cycle. Obviously you are going to want to try cardio and natural remedies if its not that high, but if your in hyper tension i suggest you get right to a doctor and see what your options are. The will probably hook you up to an EKG just to make sure there are no severe symptoms before prescribing you anything. Blood pressure is nothing to mess around with. Like someone mentioned below if you're going to run gear its a good idea to obtain a BP cuff to monitor your BP once a day, better safe than sorry and for 60.00 at your local cvs or walgreens is a very good investment. Hope this helps.
I used to have high Bp. I was 154/80. This was due to using Clen which elevated it ad also 17aa orals. At which time tho my dr put me on Accupril low does 10mg and I dropped Bp to 124/75. At that time he put me on Accupril also because accupril also helps get rid of toxins/bad enzymes in your kidneys. So it was doing 2 things at once for me. That was many years ago however
For about the past 8 yrs I have not touched any orals or Clen.. Now my Bp is Fine without oral and Clen use. I only use injectables and nothing toxic like tren
I routinely get blood work done. 2x year and all blood work is perfect. I'm a high believer that 17aa orals play a big roll In Fn up blood work !!!!
On the other hand some people have high Bp that runs in the family and not much u can do but go on a low dose of bp med to control it
Cardio
Lots of water
Carditone off Amazon
Garlic
High dose fish oil
Hawthorn Berries
Baby Asprin
Limit stimulants...
jasonhmy bp was running around 150/90 for awhile, i cleaned up diet and rely upped the cardio (5 days a week swim or stair climber) just did check up down to 112/80, thats on cycle(equipose, npp, testp and anavar) think cutting the high fat foods and the cardio really did it as i take the same supplements know as i did when bp was up (fish oil, mens prostate health blend, multivitamin, niacin, calcium magnesium, milk thistle and garlic)
You have to feel better as well, right? I was doing prop ED @100mgs, eating everything I could, not giving a shit about sodium, potassium...etc. BP was 150/110 and I thought my head was gonna explode...hehe Your doing it right my man, nice work!
yea i developed hyper tension. Hawthrone help drop my bp about 10 points though. not bad
is that pulmonary hyper tension?
Tough topic, I'm on 10mg lisinopril daily. #1 thing to stay clear of... Energy drinks,an instant B/P increaser. Keep caffiene, sodium intake low. Also sad to say heavy weight training. I've found anarobic training works best. Avoid overhead presses (sure ok), sit nap after training. My B/P avg. 140/60, 65bpm, Again lifting heavy all the time should be avoided.
i have lowered my saturated fat intake dramatically and my hypertension dropped down to the prehypertension phase. with cardio, my bp is normal.
Very low dose lisinopril Helps me out. Its about the most harmless heart med there is out there and doctors will prescribe it all day long.
Christ on crutches I've read two pages of "remedies" for high blood pressure and I'm surprised many of you guys are still alive. Steroids cause the body to produce more red blood cells and may also increase blood cholesterol, both of which cause the blood pressure to increase do to the change in the fluid viscosity of the blood. It's easy: pump water or pump mud which is harder on the pump. And NO ingesting vinegar, curry powder or snake oil will NOT lower the blood pressure. Tell your doctor your taking X, and that you need something for your blood pressure he/she will prescribe a drug like pravastatin that will lower the bad cholesterol but the red blood cell increase will remain as long as the hormone is elevated. Also remember that colossal digestion of any food with high potassium or sodium will adversely effect the heart at it p-wave, long term diets high in these nutrients will have an adverse effect on the ion charges in the cardiac cells.
Hawthorn berries and omega 3 and cardio
Anongood post, tread. i agree 100%. i actually had written a thread about this topic recently not knowing you had already touched base. i think both of ours mesh together well each with something to add to the other:

Thanks for the heads up Tread-m.
I went to the Dr the other day because someone's sick little germ infested rug rat slobbered on every door knob in my home and I caught his chest and sinus infection. In any event, I assumed it was the chest infection that caused my oxygen level to tank that then caused my high blood pressure until I went to the Dr and just now read your post. Maybe (chest cold) but now I know to look for it when I am healthy. Funny though - The nurse asked me my age; "48" I said. When looking at the veins in my forearms and chest she then asked me if I was taking any suppliments; "well, lots of protien suppliments and I go to the gym every week" I said. Nurse said with a smile - "No, I mean the suppliments that come in a vile from overseas, that could be your blood pressure problem". I told her that I would take the antibiotics and lay off the suppliments and gym until the meds ran their coarse. After reading your post I went on Ebay and ordered a blood pressure monitor - Thanks Bro, you're a stud, appreciate the heads up! +1 BTW - Muta's Rips are sure solid.
verry informative post
Sleep apnea is one of the leading causes of hypertension. The silient killer and I'm sure theres quit a few bros here with oversized necks which is a leading factor to sleep apnea. If your tired through out the day, occassionally wake up with a headache in the morning, waking up several times during the night for no reason and have increasing or high blood pressure theres a good chance you have sleep apnea. I have it and have to wear a CPAP machine when sleeping and don't mind it at all, sleep better, feel better and corrected my blood pressure problem without having to use meds the rest of my life. Probably preventing me from having a heart attack down the road since that runs in family history.
AnonAgreed, been thru alot of it but female issues. Thx I liked the story ish , had my blood pressure checked many times after on and not on gear and is always hypertension, not good. I'm still 5'8 136 have taken equipoise and t low t I seem to get good with that. No weird vagina issues. Clean lady here
I have been taking coq10 and it has helped, my blood pressure has gone down.
I think I have said this before here. But here go's again apple cider vinegar a couple of table spoons a day helps tremendously. Thank my great grandma. That stuff cures a lot of ailments that we deal with. Taste like piss but what the Hell my heart is healthy as well as my liver and kidneys.
Ya man ive been using apple cider vinegar for a week now and it works. The day after i started it went down. Good stuff its cheap and easy to get. I also take a daily omega3 that helps. Thanks for the info tho bro.
i mix it with apple juice, bad taste gone but still smells.
hmm..gonna have to try this
I read the same post and have been taking it most of my test/EQ/ anavar cycle now at start of week 10 and my bp is very good on cycle and no issues so far, ive had checks at one of the local pharmacys that offer free bp checks and they said im A OK.... But the stuff does taste like piss :/
drinking lots of water year round to help pull subq water which strains the blood vessels. l-arginine and flax seed oil, also throughout the year.
I've been swearing by Metamucil for the last year or so. My blood pressure has always been low(112 over 68) but after my last cycle I got checked by my Doc and it was actually down to 102 over 60. On cycle I was around 124 over 68.
I got one of my clients hooked on it too. He takes BP meds and he went from 135 over 78 down to 95 over 68. He's going to see his Doc about getting his med dose lowered now.
This stuff just works so add it to your stash.
Remember the days you could go into Walmart and use there blood pressure machine. Now the cuff makes it to my elbow wtf. I had to buy this thing that looks like a watch for retards.
o.o?? i just checked my bp for first time and its 150 over 88
is that bad lol
Prehypertension its not great kinda high
im with sw_87 on this i had slightly high bp 130/90,i was told by a friend to eat celery.it has emzymes in it that relax your blood vessels, and i also use hawthorn berry,3 pills 3xdaily.when i went back a few months later for a check-up my bp was 120/80,which i believe is the sweet spot.
I find the best things for blood pressure on cycle are sticks of celery, and hawthorn berry. I eat around 2-4 sticks of celery a day, its hardly got any calories in it. In fact I think you burn more calories than whats in it, by simply chewing it and eating it. Always good if you don't want to increase your calorific intake.
I always run an AI to help with estrogen and stop the rise in blood pressure caused by bloat.
I find that you have to have a large enough cuff as well. If you have big arms, and you're still using a normal cuff you will more than likely be getting false readings. So your blood pressure could be fine, but the machine isn't reading it properly due to the size of your arms. So I always use a larger cuff.
I also do cardio 2-3 times a week.
