+ 27 Blood Pressure Help
Every once in a while We see a blood pressure question and the truth is, its probably the biggest health hazard when it comes to doing what we do. Most of the young guys running gear, I was one once upon a time, just look at roid rage as kinda cool often and dont really realize it is likely the result of high blood pressure. High blood pressure could be responsible for a large percentage of all disease related to cardiovascular or organ issues. We should talk about it more and in my opinion there should be no single person running gear without a BP monitor. I figured it out many years after running my first gear, I thought rage just meant I was a badass! Lol. So anyway my answer is cardio early and often, eat as clean as possible and take my omega3 fish oil along with a few other heart supps....hopefully everyone can drop in their control methods and thoughts. I happen to believe even blood pressure medication is a good thing if you need it when compared to just letting it get out of hand. It is depreciating you which is the opposite of what we are all trying to do to begin with. A motor that runs nice and smooth that granny drives will last longer than one in Goths ride given he just boils the tires at every intersection and thinks he's so fuckin cool with his dollar store jewelry and his felt hat and gold tip cane! TELL US WHATS WORKING FOR YOU....

I am on Propranolol, I was never on anything else. My BP was hanging around 150/100 but my pulse was still low 70's. Now it is 120/80 but pulse at rest is barely 60
Molinin302http://heartratezone.com/pulse-rate-for-men/
You're fine champ, heart rate and BP are two separate issues. BP is usually dictated by dilation of the blood vessels, heart rate, well, is your heart rate. One can have a high heart rate and low BP and vice versa. I find for me diet is the biggest factor. A few days of bad eating and salt, there goes the BP. Too much caffeine or nicotine (yeah, I know) and there climbs the heart rate. In a nutshell, RHR is something you want on the lower side. No reason for the heart to be pumping hard and at 85bpm while you're watching Matlock on TV.
Pretty sure the propranolol works like metoprolol by lower hr rate results in lower bp I would talk with your Dr about possibly a different med ...I mean less than 60 is good if your Lance Armstrong but for an average weight lifter sounds way low ... I think the risk is if you consume something that increases those effects you might bottom out
Yeah it isn’t supposed to be this low
What dose of Lisinopril are you taking bud?
10mg
Wow they have really dropped it then - that Lisinopril is supposed to work wonders too for high BP, even just a small dose instantly drops it.
Its also supposed to help strengthen your heart my cardiologist told me they mainly give it to people who have had cardiac events
I've ordered some so it will be interesting to see the results, looking forward to losing at least 10 points! Should make training much easier and not get worn out so easily. Did it make you lethargic or anything like that at first?
I didn't notice anything but they told me the same thing
I know donating blood worked for me. Im going to continue every 60 days so my blood isnt sludged and increasing my blood pressure. I cant do the "power red 2 pints" every 4 months because you have to be a negative type. I also feel a lot better and next time i see the doctor ill see what other benefits i get from it after bloodwork. Donate! I also have started 3g omega3 with the EPA/DHA and red rice yeast with COQ10..
I have recently seen a member say that overall, blood donation can cause more harm than good in terms of blood thickening and pressure - apparently when you donate then body over compensates for the loss of blood and produces more blood cells than normal actually making things worse. I'm not sure if this is the case or not, I know I have seen others say it makes little difference too. There must be some studies online to show if this is the case or not somewhere.
Im sure he is right also. It probably works only for people like me with very high red blood cell count that is causing the hypertension. If you are normal i dont see a need to go crazy with donating. It helps my situation. I may be a lone case. I stay around 156/95 and it brings me to 140/76 and around and my chronic headaches go away.
I wouldn't be surprised if donating contributed to mine as well, but I also have high RBC
I think for people in our circle there are more pros to donating blood than there are cons. As with anything there are always consequences but ill accept them to feel much better after depositing a pint of red sludge.
I definitely feel better after donating. Matter of fact my appointment is tomorrow.
I did last monday. The Red Cross App is perfect with Rapid Pass
I use it as well. Sometimes Versiti if no local drives
Yeh I just read something where they say it brings it down around 20 points on the top level for someone sitting at 160 - I think it may be more beneficial for those sitting at the high end of the range maybe. I hope it does work anyway as I am booked in next month hahaha Not doing it all for nothing Lol
Yeah if you get headaches all the time or more than often i found out that high blood pressure is a main cause. Some claim more energy after and some claimed ability to gain more afterward but i just wanted the headaches gone.
I know after monitoring myself a lot over the summer that if I am sat around 130 (which is bad I know) I am okay but workouts still suffer - But when it starts creeping to 140 I get the constant headaches, especially when laying down in bed. Heat makes a massive difference too - if you live in a warmer climate you are definitely at a disadvantage in the BP and HR stakes. I know here with it being cold most of the year it makes things like tren much more tolerable no doubt about it. Probably how Thor manages so well LMAO

I use 3g of garlic oil when I wake up and its good for me
I gave in and went on beta blockers. Now working out it is hard to even get my heart rate into the 90's
I had them years ago pale for anxiety. They made me feel dreadful after roughly a week
The main problem I found with them was the fact they block Adrenaline so heavily - it made training extremely tough especially when you are wanting to get fired up for a lift and have the CNS activated. However the pay off is the lower heart rate and blood pressure so you don't get worn out half as quickly and don't feel over exerted. I had propanalol but things seem to have progressed since then with newer ones.
That is the one they have me on. It has been about 6 weeks now. I tried talking the Doc into letting me go back off them but he shot me down. Part of the reason for going with that one is it supposedly works to stop migraines as well. When I first started taking them I had two in the first ten days or so. Now it has been like 4 weeks since I had one, so maybe on that front it is working. I am trying to be patient like everyone says to be but I believe I have gained a few pounds and I have had basically a non-stop cramp in my left calve. I give blood on Thursday so I will be curious what my BP is.
I just remember feeling really tired and shitty all day so I dropped them
Do tell girly?
Honestly when ever I creep up in BP from either diet and or sauce I take a PD5 inhibitor every 3 days, always works for me.
For me blood pressure was solved with garlic coq 10 fish oil and hawthorn berry.
Hawthorne berry is amazing give it a try my brother!
This is what I do and it works for me. Taking testosterone or any other anabolic substance will spike my blood pressure to prehypertesnion to stage one hypertension. High blood pressure runs in my family so I am normally in the high end of normal for my Systolic and Diastolic readings.
Ubiquinol 400mg ED
Astragalus Extract 4g ED
Carditone 1 tablet 2x a day
Krill fish oil 3g a day
Beet root powder 1400mg ED (Warning Do not take Cialis, Viagra or any other ED medication with this. It contains nitrates which will cause blood pressure to drop to dangerously low levels.)
Have you ever used L-Arginine before for this purpose? Gonna order some potassium tabs this second and thinking of throwing a bag of that in also ....
Taking potassium without having labs drawn is dangerous. You can get hyperkalemic (>5.5) and that can cause a lot of cardiac issues.
Someone a while back recommended Iodoral to get some iodine for my thyroid. It’s potassium iodide and one of my last labs actually came back with hyperkalemia so I know it’s working in terms of potassium.
I take L-Arginine everyday. I have tablets. It is also in my BCAA and preworkout beverages. Anything that increases nitrogen retention will have BP lowering effects.
You find Beetroot powder good for it mate?
Potassium tablets are supposed to be good also .....
Beetroot juice bro and cranberry juice!!!!!!
Honestly test it at home with a bp machine. Take bp, drink a pint of half and half then retest 15/20 later and you’ll see how ch this drops.
Keep this up and the nitric oxide builds up in your body causing the effects to last longer and longer
Fuck all these pills and powders if possible go for the real deal....... carrot juice is awesome also bro
A few years back I bought some Beetroot juice and I just couldn't hack it bud Lol Uuuggh 2 gulps and had to call it a day - Cranberry juice however I love the stuff but never knew it affected BP?! Cranberry and Vodka was one of my favourite drinks back in the day - kidded myself it was actually good for me Lmao
I drink diet Cranberry juice(less sugar) as much as possible & it’s good for the kidneys too.
Potassium is great I don't know where you are in the world the recommended rda is 4.5 grams in the US the fda only allows pills to contain no more than 99mg so the best way is to eat fruits and veggies that contain high amounts. Stan efferding has some YouTube videos on this ...All I know is blood pressure is probably the # 1 thing to worry about with long term aas or even trt use i know cause mine was always borderline high ...I just had a blood clot in my one of my arteries had a heart attack had to have a catherder go in through my thigh and suck it out ...I only cycled twice in the last 4 years and been on trt...I knew I needed better diet more cardio but didn't take my BP that serious neither did my doc it was always in the prehypertension range ...Glad I'm not dead I had no heart disease at all he said my arteries were very large no plague build up ...this is serious shit glad to see some posts on this thread
I'm in the UK mate, how long were you cycling gear before the heart attack out of interest? I bet that was some scary shit wasn't it, I'm guessing when it hits it's just intense pain in your heart region or chest and what did you do - ring an ambulance or did someone else? Stuff of nightmares but realistic for all of us if we don't take precautions ....
I've been running off and on for almost 20 years ... I'm including at first I ran a lot of prohormones in my early 20s probably at say 22 or 23 I started gear very little as the internet stuff was just getting started and the gym guys were complete ripoffs 23 to 30 I would cycle and pct but slowly the time off got shorter and shorter tell 30to 35 I pretty much blast and cruised thought I wanted to compete as mom was a very successful competition bb she won pretty much every show she entered ... than I figured out the health risk weren't worth it so I tried to come off long pct probably 1 and 1/2 years clean test never came back fully started self proscribed trt after an endocrinologist told me to wait it out longer but the depression lack of libido drove me insane... but yes it felt like a elephant was standing on my chest i could breathe fine but the pain was severe i was at dinner i thought I had indigestion but my hands were in lots of pain too so my wife drove me to the hospital that was very close to the restaurant and yes the scariest shit in my life I mean at the hospital I basically prayed my last prayer in cause I thought it was my time but the surgeon saved my life ... the hardest part now besides just doing the common sense stuff cardio diet no gear i mean I'm still gonna run trt but much more close eye on blood work imy blood pressure is good now from meds also my cholesterol is good it was never bad I mean on cycle it would get higher but always go to baseline but the doctor really has no concrete reason why it happened besides prior steroid use and like stated unchecked hbp.. so what I'm getting at is I can do everything right and it could happen again ...genetics definitely plays a role too i mean I know personally people who ran way more shit always way fatter never do cardio and these guys haven't had any issues yet so all I can say is I'm glad I didn't leave my wife and 5 kids behind and glad if I can help the people who have helped me in our eroids family or anyone else I will... i mean when I've heard stupid fucks say on here they'd die for this shit they have no fucking idea what that really means not just for them but for their friends and family around them are the ones who really have to pay for their selfishness
Your story is one of my greatest fears. My buddy had 4 heart attacks and didn't even realize it. He was in such phenomenal shape that he was still walking around albeit in pain. His situation was a wake up call for me. He ate clean and trained hard. His steroid usage was mild compared to mine. I was like fuck if it can happen to him, then it can happen to me. I started reading about BP and that triggered my research on treating it. I have always had higher than average BP. I knew this was making me a prime candidate for a heart attack. I've since gotten mine in a good range with my daily supplements.
I bought a beet root powder that contains 56mg of nitrates per serving. It is the nitrates that are key to lowering blood pressure. There was a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Scientists at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences examined the effects of short-term nitrate supplementation in a group of 17 healthy, nonsmoking young adults. They administered a daily dose of nitrate supplement equivalent to the amount normally found in 150 to 250 grams of a nitrate-rich vegetables for 3 days. There was also a placebo administered for a different 3 days. The average diastolic blood pressure was 3.7 mm Hg lower after three days of taking the organic nitrate supplement.
I know for a fact that it works. One day I took Cialis after taking the beet root capsules. This was a mistake on my part. I had forgotten that I taken the nitrate supplement. My blood pressure dropped to very low levels. I became lightheaded. I had blurred vision and cold sweats. I also felt nausea. These are all classic symptoms of low blood pressure. The ED manufactures warn about taking nitrates or eating nitrate rich foods when administering the medication.
I started taking inderal for anxiety and it was a total game changer. BP gets high mostly when I run orals, to the point I can feel my eyes twitching. The inderol and a good 2 mile jog usually does the trick.
This is something I have experienced for a long time now!
I was lucky enough to have a doctor, who have actually looked into the problem deeper, than just stating that my high BP was a reason of using gear. After numerous hospitals and a handful of cardio-vascular specialists, they have found an anomaly in my vascular system, that was causing the issue,I was born with it.
I have learned, that the high BP is a very sneaky stuff. Your body is is getting use to it very quickly, and you will not be feeling the difference. You may feel it one day, when it will jump up, but next day you will be like "Okay, it is gone now, I'm feeling great". Do not get tricked by that, it can still be high, it is you, who don't feel it anymore. So, daily monitoring is A MUST.
Every specialist advice that I have received, was pretty much the same:
1) Do your cardio! Do not skip it, it has to be done
2) Sort your diet out. Low sodium, reduced fat and as clean as it can be.
3) Alcohol and other nasty habits, reduce and then get rid of them
4)Before any meds, try to add some foods, that can naturally reduce the BP into your diet (greens, almond, celery, beetroot etc.) they actually done a good job for me personally, especially beetroot juice.
5) Keep a track of your readings to see what is affecting you the most.
6) Sleep, rest and maybe use some herbal sedatives not to get too stressed out on daily basis.
To be fair with you, as soon as I have got meds to maintain it, i thought "Well, I can come back to normal, I've got pills now" so in some point i started to ignore all the stuff I mentioned above. And guess what? BP has gone through the roof again.
So I think, well for me it is, better to try doing it without the meds at least to start off with. If it will not gonna help, then it is clearly the time to seek for medical advice. But,as i have said, from my experience, it is mostly down to the way you maintain your BP.
It is all just my own experience and I hope you may find this wright up helpful guys!
alpha-hic-upI have been also suffered from it, so we have started to take lemon juice + sugar. It helped me to get relief from that. Hope it will also help you.
Molinin302I do like to add when I can, hear me out on this. I didn't live the healthiest lifestyle in my 20's and 30's, but actually had issues before that. Dr had put me on amlodipine, it didn't change much.getting on TRT actually lowered it slightly, but in the end it was diet. I've shared this info with people in my personal and professional life, but it's really a game changer. I really thought I was eating clean, nope not clean enough. Try a ridiculous clean diet for one week, salads, yogurt, nuts, etc. 2 cheat meals, not days. And no cheating, eat clean like you're obsessive about it, I can almost guarantee 10 points off of your systolic and 5 off of your testing pressure. Oh yeah, only a pinch of salt here and there. Let me know results please, I've posted pics of mine. Thanks guys.
Im amazed at how many people have been close to heart attacks or have visited ER but still keep doing gear.
Gear is not for you, be smarter for god's sake.
