I did medicinally for 2 months until I switched to Methadone daily; suboxone or its cousins, subutex, etc,
It is Harder to work toward that painful pump in the gym. But my pain threshold is high. I can handle alot of pain which can be dangerous for lifting heavy weights, because of this stuff I take. That's just my opinion and my doc just tells me to bri g my Testostrrone levels back to normal. He knows that I lift and knows about my medication etc. you just need to use your own judgement when lifting. Everybody is different. But that stuff will numb you significantly, they are a synthetic opioid pain med and are prescribed for pain. I cant say if it's good or bad unless misused or abused, but that goes with anything mind altering or a central nervous system depressent.
I'm not complaining. Im under a docs and nurses care. I'm putting this out there for your Info; lot of professional athletes and bodybuilders whom are prone to Injuries....that synthetic crap Nubane is supposed to be bad news but that's just from what I read and I'm not condoning its use. All opiates or its derivatives are painfully addicting and ruin shit, but work well for those painful pumps and soreness.

I know its not a drug but gambling is just as addictive I've been clean for 3 years this coming April.
My game of choice was Black jack.
Gamblers Anonymous did work for me seeing people getting ready to head to prison do to embezzlement and other criminal activity to fund their addiction.
What really helped is making my addiction known to my family and friends also signing a Self Exclusion in my state that bans me from all casinos in my current state,if i step foot in the casino they arrest me and i'm charged with trespassing.
when its all said and done in my 4 years of addiction i lost over 100,000 USD much of it from my business
I'm Thankful to God first and foremost and my wife who stuck by my side and helped me to quit,it wasn't easy i would shake when i wasn't gambling and id have bad anxiety.

Glad u were able to pick up the pieces & get your life back! Never look back & keep moving forward!

Good for you My man! :-) A massive achievement ....

I can imagine gambling easily becoming very addictive - I got quite attached to doing lottery scratch cards about 8 years ago, it came from nowhere just going into a shop to do the odd one to having to do 3 every time I bought something in general. Its the euphoria and adrenaline rush you get when you win that you begin to chase isn't it - constantly thinking this 'could be the big one' & if I don't buy it I could have just lost out on an opportunity to change my life. Luckily I had to stop as my finances simply wouldn't allow me to carry on doing it, I was also an alcoholic at the time and drink easily took presidency over scratch cards Lol! Otherwise I was the one rattling at 6am no joke ....

Hello I'm 32 years old... I have always liked to party sense my teens... Though after a really rough brake up after my daughter was born at the age of 20 I became addicted to pills then within a year I was introduced to heroin and was shooting it up... So I had always played sports in school and was amazing at them.I also had always weighed trained up till my addiction took over like a wild fire!! So for ten years from age 20 till 30 I used and abused myself so so bad and it's so so sad!!! Two years ago I caught my first two felony's ever and I got sentence to 2 flat and 2 post... While locked up I was able to get clean I was able to get my mind right as well as my body... I started reading again and I mean alot and as well as eatting right n that means as healthy as one can while in the joint... I had picked the weights back up and had soon realized that reading and lifting were to become a way to escape mentally from that very depressing place it was my therapy both mentally and physically I went in prison 175 lb and I came out 190 to 195 pretty solid I got my mind n body back as I had shown an after prison pic on my homepage. I've done two cycles sense being home. I have no plans on stopping besides in between cycles I am very happy where I am today still clean the still addicted to drugs. Though I have three years clean right now and I never thought I could say that I ever!!! So for anybody out there struggling because of addiction or something else find that one thing you love and put your all into it mine was something that I always love to do that I had lost sight of and in my darkest moment it came to light once again!! Thank you and take care...!!!

Respect!!

I got asked to do a lead(my first clean since aug 28 2012) in a Mexican neighborhood.... so I have to do it in Spanish .... my polish is on point.... but it’s hard to carry the message in an unnatural language, do I do it?
I’ll be saying a lot of “como se dice _____?”

press1's picture

I'd say go for it Bud - people will read into your emotion and how its said more than your broken Spanish.

Forehead's picture

I think so too, it’s back in my hometown too .... I visited and they all were proud.... sometimes it feels surreal ya know!? Like 11 years ago I was using cigarette butts on the street and puddle water to shoot dope and now I’m doing the complete opposite.... strange how a couple doses of prison and recovery can change ur life.... u gotta want it tho, and that’s a daily struggle 5 minutes from now I can’t lose the desire and need to find it again real fast... but drugs wasn’t my only problem .... but ya wish I could share the lead with u guys somehow...

I used to do tons of H & I, Jails and recovery center stuff. talk at drug court and various other kinds of courts. After so many times being in uncomfortable situations and realizing how much it makes me grow I used to sort of fiend for it. I didn't know at the time what was happening but later on I ended up in a career path with sales and all the work I put in speaking paid huge dividends. If you can, always accept honorably, when asked to speak. WHile it is for everybody else you grow the most...

Yo ...... good to see this is on here

Fell off, again. I'll be back when I get my shit together.
Getting sick and tired of myself doing dumb shit.

House, Welcome Home~! Thanks for sharing your story here. I believe in you. You can do this. Follow the NA way bro'. Sounds like you know the road to stay on, and the path to stay away from.

House's picture

What's up fellas? I just got out of lockdown after a year. It was a long ride. Long!! Got out last wed and been hitting meetings every night. Not going to front like I stayed clean inside cause I did not but hitting the streets I wanted to do something different. I had 9 yrs at one time with NA, meetings, steps, all of it and been hard to get that fire back. Hurt alot of people. Lived in the streets. Did things normal people can't comprehend and neither can I. I got the vivitrol shot done to give myself some time and opportunity to change. Love and respect.

Hey mate, I've got a question I've been meaning to ask for a while to someone who's recently got out if thats okay. I realise a lot of guys train in their cells to keep motivation up and stay positive through it all which of course training is Awesome for - But isn't it a real head doer when you've finished as when you are feeling great and want to get out and about like you would after a normal gym session you are still confined in a room and can't do anything but stay put? Doesn't it feel like a bit of a double edged sword?

House's picture

Sure it was. It sucked. We had no wheights. I did pull ups, push ups, and used water jugs for awhile I was a runner on my block so I was out all day but nothing changes the fact and it's always in the back of your mind that your not going anywhere.

Do not all prisons have weights and benches then? I was pretty sure they did esp. in the States where training is so popular?

Slowly's picture

In most prisons that do not have a gym, prisoners make bottles with salt in them.
A 2-litre bottle can hold about 4 kilos of salt.
The bad thing is that when the perquisition arrive, they confiscate it, and everything has to be done again. That's how you spend your time in prison.

Forehead's picture

That’s why you use thick heavy books. Sometimes they don’t take your extra books because it’s not too terrible to hoard that stuff in the states.... they will take water and salt bags everytime.

House's picture

No they don't and alot have gotten rid of them. Some do if your lucky. Where I was didn't on top of the food sucking I put on alot of bad wheight. Working it off now though.

Yeh not doubting you at all bud it was just something I assumed they did from all the films always showing people training etc. Are they getting rid of it all as they don't want inmates over powering the guards or as a general way of making things tougher and punishing people more?

Bill1976's picture

They have weights in the prison system In The state where I live. The weights are welded onto the barbells. Have dumbbells too. We have machines and everything. It’s where I started lifting.

House's picture

I didn't think you are doubting me I'm not sure why. I was in county for a year. I didn't go up state. Up state they have wheights in some places from what I was told. I'm trying not to visit any of them. I got a year for possession and dirty urines. I been staying clean for the most part and trying to rebuild my life again.

PREACH...there is no middle of the road solution. I put anything in my body and there is a good chance of me robbing 3 ppl before I get home. Probably won’t make it home, probably be working out in the same cell this dude just left. Massive amounts of AAS push me over the edge sometimes too. Mostly trt from here on out.

Take it one day at a time brother. Glad you are back
