+ 27 Blood Pressure Help
Every once in a while We see a blood pressure question and the truth is, its probably the biggest health hazard when it comes to doing what we do. Most of the young guys running gear, I was one once upon a time, just look at roid rage as kinda cool often and dont really realize it is likely the result of high blood pressure. High blood pressure could be responsible for a large percentage of all disease related to cardiovascular or organ issues. We should talk about it more and in my opinion there should be no single person running gear without a BP monitor. I figured it out many years after running my first gear, I thought rage just meant I was a badass! Lol. So anyway my answer is cardio early and often, eat as clean as possible and take my omega3 fish oil along with a few other heart supps....hopefully everyone can drop in their control methods and thoughts. I happen to believe even blood pressure medication is a good thing if you need it when compared to just letting it get out of hand. It is depreciating you which is the opposite of what we are all trying to do to begin with. A motor that runs nice and smooth that granny drives will last longer than one in Goths ride given he just boils the tires at every intersection and thinks he's so fuckin cool with his dollar store jewelry and his felt hat and gold tip cane! TELL US WHATS WORKING FOR YOU....

I'm sorry Dr. Astronaut Pilot Monkey Jesus Pickle.
I defer to your excellent geniusness.
I will now withdraw to the primordial ooze from whence i came.
Ha ha, back in your hole you Morlock!
Love you brother!
I've got an Awesome beach towel cape.
Great read and feedback guys, Im 35 and i just got put on lisinopril today at 10mg because my past 2 appointments my bp has been 160/100. I know its due to AAS. I knew I'd find some good info here. 1 question, does BP medication work pretty well while still on AAS? I don't want to quit the game but also don't wanna leave a wife and 3 kids behind either. This is all new to me, I'm gunna switch to short ester cycles from now on if i do continue to juice. Any feedback is appreciated fellas
AnonLisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, so, once dialed in, it should work pretty well for you.
I'm a benzapril man myself. Ace inhibitor can work for me if I keep my weight down a bit.
With the assistance of covid I went from 248 down to 236 and my BP dropped with it. I am 130/88 now versus 148/99
But now a month later weight is still 236-237 but BP is back 150/98 range on the first check. It always goes down a bit on the second attempt. I am getting serious about dropping weight now however so we will see.
Good deal, extra weight kills my bp too.
Been trying to control my bp for years. At the age of 22 I was diagnosed with hypertension, now 27. Current meds as of yesterday were 20mg lisinopril and 10mg amlodopine. Just yesterday evening I had my doctor change lisinopril for 40mg telmisartan. Read tons of benefit of that drug, including increasing endurance at higher mgs?? Currently averaging around 150/88 all day.
I eat my cloves of garlic, liss 5x/week 30 mins, fish oil, eat cleaner than anyone I know, quit drinking, lots of water, lowered my salt, decreased my carbs, keep all other organs in check with bloodwork every 3 months etc. just apparently have horrible genetics regarding BP.
I’ll keep ya guys posted regarding the telmisartan
AnonSome of us are just designed to run at a higher pressure. Ha. I feel like shit all the time on my meds...and still have higher side BP like you.
In general blood pressure is elevated by one of three things: constriction of blood vessels, increased heart rate, and viscosity of the blood. So when looking at root causes we generally assess factors like renal function, cardiac function, and respiratory function. The majority of the time it is either fluid volume insufficiency and the kidneys are working to preserve volume by constricting vessels which makes the heart have to work harder to circulate that volume against resistance, poor metabolic regulation (diabetes or hyperlipidemia), or resistance from pulmonary pathways causing fluid to back up into the heart. So my advice would be to keep a close eye on fluid volume intake by monitoring urine output, clarity, and turbulence this will let you know how your kidneys are, regulating your glycemic index and trying to lower your cholesterol (niacin works wonders) and obviously not smoking or ingesting too much salt (salt is pretty much added to all the shit they sell in cans or bottles).
Anon+1. Simply stated:
Pump (heart)
Volume (blood)
Container (vessels)
Change in one effects the other two....requiring adjustment.
+2 for the original comment also.
Very informative
I appreciate you writing this, I am using test, tren and proviron. I like to enter here and read to acquire knowledge
Fuk fuk fuk
Very under talked about topic in my opinion. Something that has just hit my radar and take notice so any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated!
I suffer from high BP. Mostly due to AAS I’m sure being pre-use my BP was perfect.
Sadly this year, my doctor put me on a BP med. I’ve noticed a difference in attitude as a result oddly enough. I’m a bit more tame than I was which wasn’t the goal but here we are. I’ll be following up this week to see where I am at this point.
High BP isn’t a force to fooled with. I had no symptoms of high BP whatsoever, it was by complete chance that it was discovered by my supervisor of all people. Literally in a random convo that resulted in a random check.
Long short, it was high enough that he sent me directly to the ER where it was confirmed. I was in strike area.
With all of that said, at that time I was also running Tren A in moderate to low doses.
Well, whilst giving blood today they checked my BP and I will be damned if it wasn't a perfect 120/80. I still hate these beta blockers, but the case against it is not holding up.
Have you tried Bisoprolol Furmarate before? I have just been using 2.5 to 5mg a day from an old box I got 2 years ago and they really help, alongside Fish oil, 1 tab of Potassium and 1 Magnesium. Just from a couple of days its come down from 145/90+ to 126/80. Feel totally different and no longer breathless doing menial tasks. I've used Propanolol many years ago but found them pretty heavy going and they made me very lethargic, the Bisoprolol I find much better :-)
Update: Its now averaging 125 / 74 so its definitely working, well worth a try
I will definitely look into it. Is that stuff prescription or OTC?
It's prescription mate from the doctor
If you need a reason for changing it tell them you've heard the lethargy is much less on it than with the propranolol, this is the reason I gave and they allowed me to change medication.
How would you compare the lethargy to lisinopril if you’ve tried that one? Just recently was put on it and I’ve never experienced this fatigue from blood pressure medicines before. Can’t stop napping every day
After trying various protocols mate I've found 2.5mg EOD works best for me bud, if I go 5mg all in one go it makes me feel very tired. Takes around 12 hours to properly get into the system then BP and HR tends to stay low and controlled for the next 24 hrs but then climbs back up again. The side that I least like is the internal cold feeling and cold feet Lol Well worth it though if you are getting around the 140 mark and want to tuck it back under 130. Massive difference doing general day to day tasks and the bigger exercises.
That's great. Where is it normally without them? Did you ask them about the over compensation hematocrit rise after donating or not get into it?
I was running 145-150/95-100
Thats exactly where I was at now I'm on lisinopril and metoprolol #s are much better now
What dose of each are you on?
TRT I run 10mg of lisinopril, on cycle I can run as high as 30mg Ed of lisinopril to get my Bp below 130/80
Have you noticed any need to increase the dose or drug itself over time? My usual 200mg daily of labetadol has kept me at around 120/80 with a RHR of around 85 and out of nowhere it’s slowly trekked up to 145/95 and RHR of 90-95
No I haven't myself...I would just speak to your doctor there's many different medications out there if that ones not working anymore or needs increased they'll take care of it ...have you had any changes diet exercise stress weight those could all be factors
My appointment is next week. Stress is a pretty big influencer for me. I’ve tried propanol, amlodipine, valsartan and now labetadol. Same trend with psych meds I build a tolerance until I’m at the max dose then need to switch. I was curious if anyone else has this problem and found an explanation so I can bring it to to doctors attention
My dad did I should have mentioned so its probably common
Just wanted to give you an update and ask your opinion. The doctor said they would rather not keep increasing the beta blocker dose and put me on a diuretic instead to see how I respond. I’ve never had a doctor do this before and it seems strange. Any experience with this?
A diuretic like hydrchlorothiazide is actually the first line treatment of HTN instead of beta blockers. Just like everything else the algorithm for treatment of these problems starts with the most conservative and progresses to more aggressive treatments. Hope it works for you sir.
My doctor is getting older and a bit lazy imo. Have weened down to 10-20mg of the beta blocker now. And been drinking a glass of beet juice amongst other things. Been keeping my lower number under 100 at least. Usually high 130's over high 80's
LOL. I do everything that I’m asked and I’m still a little high. Not sure what’s up, but I’m doing all that is asked if me.
Pale I'm assuming that you have tried a hydrchlorothiazide in the past? An ace inhibitor by itself wouldn't control mine but with the diuretic it works amazing.
Yeah this is not working right now. It is knocking my pulse down at low dose but not my BP. I gave blood last tuesday and barely got in at 148/98.
Yeah, might be time to try a different approach. 150/100 is hard on your body for sure. I'm not sure what you've tried in the past but the water pill worked for me. Good luck
Did u notice urself holding water to make u try water pill.?. I was going to try (especially since I take water pills in past), but a nutritionist told me that I'd throw off my electrolytes...
No, not really. I just needed to try something a bit different, it was creeping up. I've had electrolytes issues in the past from logging 30 miles a week running through the heat of summer. It's very low dose and I just watch my intakes and my sweat production.
Hell, I'm willing to try a little bit of anything as an experiment to keep my bp under control. My doctor was 100% on board. We'll have to see when summer comes, I only log about 10 miles a week running these days.
Ok thanks brother.. I originally took hawthorn berry, l-arginine, and cod fish oil. Had no effect after two weeks. I was going to add an water away pill but my herbal nutritionist friend tripped out on me about it.. smh, I shldve tried it.. well anyway I'm on Benicar now!
Lots of truth to this statement folks!
Yes they asked me the samething to try a diuretic but one of the side effects he said I didn't want to risk so he chose a different med ....unfortunately some Dr's just play choose a different flavor until they find what fits with the least side effects the best thing to do would be to see a cardiologist and see if they can get you sorted out obviously its not something you want to mess around with
It’s from the cardiologist by the way. Echocardiogram was fine but the ekg was slightly abnormal and I bombed that stress test. They said the ekg is abnormal because my heart beats really hard not because it’s out of rhythm. Main concern with the diuretic is high hematocrit and kidney issues since that’s what started the cardio issues in the first place.
I have noticed my ability to get my pulse higher exercising has improved a bit. But it drops off fast as fuck as soon as I stop. I am only two months in, also I have not had another migraine now since the first week
I know this post is old but I think I read that you take propranolol? Their is a newer beta blocker called bystolic, it’s more cardio specific so has less sides than older 1st and 2nd gen beta blockers.
I'm on metoprolol also cause my resting heart rate is high ..I wish my pulse would stay on the lower end but I'd say all in all the lisinopril is doing you good ...were you getting migraines from the lisinopril or high bp ?
