Yukon_JackWhat's up fellas? 10months Monday. It's been a struggle but definitely worth it! If i wasn't clean and sober today I wouldn't be spending my 1st father's day with my daughter. Just glad to be alive today. I'm in a region where that fentynal is killing at astronomical # . Lost so many can't count them all. Life is good today.
jayiskgood stuff bro. just take it one day at a time and try ur best to manage stress/trauma when it comes ur way.
people selling the dope mixed with fentynal really dont know the right ratio to mix. they just put it out and if people start dying they realize they put too much.
the worse part of opiates is there r no days off. its the worse 24/7 365 day job u can have.
enjoy ur father's day.., they grow up quick
Yukon_JackNot even bro! U can't even find real dope in my city & it's the state's capital. Mixing it? It's pure white. Looks like blow. Dudes are dying off a,match head. They're mixing str8 fentynal with car-fentynal. If u know what that is you'll see what I mean. Haven't seen brown in almost 2 yrs. Not tryna glammorize this disease. The city mayor, attrny general & every authority in the book is calling it an epidemic!! Even Trump! Pm me if u wanna see the #'s. It's so sad bro. Mostly all good kids who chose to do just 1 more.
Worst part is when ppl overdose on it everyone says “damn that must be some good shit” and then they all drop like flies. I died twice last year getting hit from it. All it takes is one bad bag and it’s lights out. I lost 7 ppl in 2015: 8 including me if u count that other time I died and they brought me back. Glad to see another person made it out. Keep up the good work
Yukon_JackThe whole situation is just bad all around. I don't agree with this it I say it all the time, "the money is in the treatment (jail, detox, half way house maintenance etc), not the CURE.
For sure. The “cure” “declines outside funding and contribution, relying solely on its members”. Had to paraphrase a lil bit there but u get the idea lol. Some places actually offer treatment as a replacement to jail time but it’s always to shitty places that r state run or r in it for the money. But on the same token it floods the good treatment centers with ppl who don’t want it and just want to avoid jail. The whole thing is screwed up but it’s something bigger than me that I can’t control. Just gotta hope something eventually clicks before it’s too late.

jayiskWow thats crazy. where i'm at they still have real dope and it seems that cut way back on mixing fentynal.
Never heard of mixing str8 fent and car-fent.
mind as well play russian roulette with a handgun.
they need to track down the dealers and hit them with murder charges.
Yukon_Jack1st dealer was just charged, about 2yrs ago. State legislature passed some new VERY harsh fentynal laws due to it. Oh trust me they're handing out big #'s for it up here and taking the persons, cell phone who was found dead and just grabbing the dealers. Crazier thing is u don't need the poppy plant to produce it and it's so cheap it's sickening.can be synthesized in a,home like meth. Anyways have a good one and like u said bro 1 day at a time.
Welcome to anybody new. I'm still checking this thread regularly. Love you guys. I don't know about living my dreams, life is challenging today. Lifting light 5Xwk, not enough cardio= less than 10minutes of cardio like 3X week. Coming back to fitness. Thanks.
Dreams are overrated!
Dreams are overrated, but goals are not! Keep your head up & keep the fight bro!!
you guys must need to turn down your dream rating machine....
Lol... a dream is just a dream unless efforts are added to it & then it becomes a goal.
point taken
Thank you for being you & the efforts you make here bro!
dont count them out. dreams happen with hard work...
Sweet, we are back in the off topic section....

awesome to see this here. god willing i will celebrate 9 mos. on the 24th. work an unconventional program. fitness is a huge part of my sobriety. it's weird seeing how much my health can flip in the span of a year. congrats to all.
I'll have 10 years clean this March 8th. Now I'm wanting to put down the cigarettes but its proving more difficult Than any drugs I've taken. I tend to smoke ALOT at work. Work for the gas/oil industry. Graveyard shift. It gets stressful and I started smoking them back to back to back. Any suggestions fellas?
For me I know that I work well when I am being a leader of some kind. SO when my wife said she was going to quit for like a month straight I finally said here let me show you how. I had some motivation to stop yet I didnt want to.
Its been about 7 years now. quitting smoking really wasn't the hard part. The hard part was quitting the fkn routines! The habit of putting that thing in your mouth. Going outside to chat and smoke after a meal, sex, coffee, or just for plain boredom. Thats the part that was hard to get past. I couldnt believe how addicted I was to that part! Me and the wife would go out on the front porch and smoke, drink coffee, watch the hummingbirds in the morning, and read our just for today book.
About 5 days went by of me not going outside with her before she finally noticed I hadnt smoked since saying I would quit.
SO first thing I would say is start looking at your daily smoking ROUTINE, then figure out what you could be doing instead of that. Bring some tooth paste and tooth brush, little hard candies like lemon drops, blowpops(no homo), and gum. The real trick for me was having something to do with my hands too, so suckers work good. When you want to smoke go brush your teeth. shit you not after brushing your teeth ten times a day youll get tired of thinking about smoking. lol
DOnt go hang out with everybody smoking if you can avoid it.
Throw your cigerattes away and leave your money at home.
Bet someone else you can go without smoking longer than them. Motovation/healthy competition is good.
I've set a date of February 24th. I'm going to buy a 5 lb bag of bio pops (NO HOMO) or may e those little Dum Dum suckers you get at the doctors office. My wife says she is going to quit with me. I hate to say it but the woman has ZERO will power. Maybe like you suggest, me being a "leader" for her will help us both. Shit, just thinking of the money I'll save is exciting to think about. I have to buy both of ours everyday. Me 2 packs and her 1. That's roughly $18 per day, $127/week. That's $540 every fucking month! That could be a new car note or more towards the mortgage on a bigger home. Or even save all that money and take the wife and kiddo on an an awesome weeks vacation somewhere.
Sweeeet bro, so you got 11 days off cigs?
Awesome! You can do it. Once your past the first couple days it should get easier. Do your beat to stay busy. And yea, check that app out. It's crazy watching the money you save pile up. I wish I put the 9.50 I spent a day on a pack in a jar. Im up to 11 mo 12 days 5hrs and have saved $3,230 fuck thats a lot of money that I would have blown. Good luck!!
Ten years ago I quit smoking tobacco June 2007, after like 30+years, i know i'm old(15yo+30=45yo + ten clean = 55yo dam) It was the most painful three days of my life, and I've buried two lovers. Quitting is soooooo worth the efforts. Withdraw hurt so bad, I remember so clearly that I have never picked up another. I didn't use candy or gum. I filled a coffee can with butts for awhile before my designated quit day. When i wanted one I opened and smelled the contents. Didn't take long before I didn't need to open the can to get grossed out. I had 3 days of a clear schedule to get through worst withdraw. I kept busy, but no work, no family commitments. I slept a lot too Good Luck~! Keep doing!
Damn, that's a hardcore plan. I have to try something. This may just be my answer brother. Thanks!
I quit almost a year ago. I spend a lot of time driving so that was the worst for me. When I finally said fuck it I need to do this, I wore a patch for 3 or 4 days. Chewed nicotine gum every time I felt it was needed but the biggest help was having an old coffee can on the passengers seat filled with lollipops, hard candy, gum, etc...For days I constantly had a pop in my mouth. But slowly I got through the worst of it. Your right. Its definitely one of the hardest things to do. I also ran an app called Smoke Free. Which tracks how much time you havent smoked and how much money youve saved since you quit. Good luck man, you can do it!
Thats some great ideas. Im going to buy a bag of dum dums as soon as I get off and I definitely have to find that app. I figured it up and me smoking 2 packs a day plus the wife's 1 pack, I was roughly spending $450 a month on those fucking things! Its time. That morning eyes could go to so much more.
This is an awesome post & lounge.... I wonder if it would be beneficial to have an actual “recovery group?” Some of the personal posts could be hidden that way & maybe people could open up more.
What do y’all think? I’m sure Roid Noid wouldn’t mind making one & I would help anyway possible!
I like the idea. Count me in.

Awesome bro!!
Great idea! Theres alot of us out there in the fitness community that, let's be honest, owe our lives to the gym and the catalyst it can be for recovery, that would love a spot to open a vein regarding our struggles, past and present.

have at it, im not on here much anymore.
Just wanted to poke my head in and let you all know that today I can say I celebrate 2 years clean!!
It’s been a long rough road and I’m still learning about myself and struggle with different defects of character that I have but everyday is an opportunity to be a better person than I was yesterday. I wake up clean and go to bed clean and pray I continue to do so.
I’m very grateful that this thread is on here and am able to speak about my issues with other people who do what we do. Thanks to each and every one of you.
