Sport Bike vs Cruiser... Let the battle begin!

I've owned 4 sport bikes over the years, and will buy my 5th next spring. So here's my argument- Riding should be an exhilarating experience, the entire purpose of a bike IMO is the aspect of nimble speed and track capability. Cruisers (Harley in Specific) have become slow bloated chrome covered convertibles. If I wanted open air and 30mpg, I'd just cut the roof off a corolla...

I had a DRM SM and you are right it was probably the funnest bike I have had. If you lived in a metro area that would be the perfect bike for all occasions. I live in the country tho, the DRM's short range got old after awhile. I still wish I had kept it tho...
What bike have you got now? I have a bandit 650 but thinking of swapping it for either the DRZ or a XR 600 because like you said tje fun factor is through the roof!
I have an HD streetglide now. My wife was not going to ride on the back of the supermoto, lol. All bikes are cool as far as I am concerned but eventually most of us end up on an cruiser. Especially if you enjoy riding with your wife. I like to joke and say it is quality time spent together without talking, lol.
AnonIt's all about the ride. Regardless of bike. We talk a little shit cuz the styles are so completely different. But I have to say its the journey and vision quest I'm after.
To see the blur of the road and the thundering roar of the wind in your ears. To know the difference between life and rather is inches away. To rely solely on your skill and your daring heart to go where you know nobody else has the courage to go. To white line going over 115mph between a semi and another car. To slow down in between them and reach out ur hands and touch both the truck and the car and live to talk about it. To hit cruise control and take a turn at 100mph using no hands just leaning ur body and using ur legs to take that turn without flinching. That's what I live for. Riding highway 1 from Frisco to Oregon is the best. The Fort Bragg highway from Willits is another amazing ride.
If you haven't been to the Redwood run in Cali ur missing the last free run there is. Sex Drugs Bikes Music and nothing but Brotherhood. No fights no drama just love for the life on two wheels!!!

AnonWhat is becoming more apparent to me in this thread, is ..... That its not the quality of your bike, but the quality of the roads you are riding on. The roads I go on I can have a blast on either a cruiser or a sport bike . If the roads you have are just long straight boring roads then yeah a wheelie is about the only excitement you are getting.
Or Im just easy to please, because I have fun on either and have ridden both plenty to know.
What straight roads? Only 600 miles of 80mph interstate between Dallas and El Paso, with at least 3 long gentle curves lol.

That being said, I have owned 8 different bikes, MX, supermoto, CBR, CB, but now I have a streetglide ( looks more like an ultra) and to you guys that think HD's aren't fast obviously haven't been paying attention to the engine mods we do.
I've been to the drag strips on bike night. Watching Harleys barely dip into the 12's and burning up the clutch after 3 runs... Meanwhile a stock modern 600 can run 11's all day while occasionally venturing into the 10's. Buell made a good super bike twin a few years ago though.

If you have no kids in my opinion get a sports bike I loved my gixxer 750 and if ur looking for speed but if ur looking to go on long ass rides and chill and be more comfortable get a cruiser! My 2 ♣★
Well ya'all can have yo debates but i for one am a huge fan of my son's bmx bike..throw a card in the spokes and gets that harley howl. And u want speed...hell this cardio queen can pedal faster than wiley coyote! I get speedin tickets racin down the tollway! Comfort....well ya need a small butt cuz them seats tend to ride up yo ass more than a thong. But it is multi purpose...i get my cardio..i feel the breeze in my hair...and all around its a great ride.

But as far as the purpose of a bike being its track qualities thats just wrong . The purpose of a bike is to be fun for the rider . I happen to enjoy long cruises on scenic country roads, and that has absolutely nothing to do with "track capabilities " . A Harley is very fun to me, It gives the full motorcycle experience.
I'll tell you what is wrong, is the 99 % of sport bike riders that cant ride worth a shit, they can blast down a straight section, but then in the turns are worthless ! How do I say this ? Because 99% of sport bikes I encounter I absollutely hammer ! And I am on the world worst handling bike ever made. So whats wrong is all the dickheads that by the biggest cc sport bikes, but never bothered to learn how to use them.
