Steroid abuse the only cause of LowT?

ad

My friend's wifey is a personal trainer... Not a 4yr degree trainer, but the 4 month crash course local infomercial school trainer. I give her props on form, but she doesn't know shit about gear or science. I just spent the evening listening to her rant about the effects of juice lol. I keep my usage very low key, so they don't know for certain that I partake in anabolic ambrosia. Her argument tonight started with her claiming that this whole "LowT" epidemic has been caused by people who abused steroids early in life, claiming that diet and exercise alone will enable a 70yr old to have the same testosterone levels as an 18yr old. Then provided to tell me that steroids only increase muscle size- but make them weaker? And that off cycle you always loose more muscle than you gained during cycle... I just find it appalling that someone who is a certified personal trainer knows so little about the internal biology and chemistry. Either way, I'm done ranting for the evening.

A huge part of low T is the environmental overload of estrogens in the meat and dairy...also the BPA (Bisphenol A) in plastics is another huge contributor of estrogen.
The amount of estrogen overload is staggering also contributing to the breast cancer epidemic amongst women. There is also the age factor our hormones do decrease as we age.

p.s. yr wifes friend has no clue what shes talking about even putting aside her lack of knowledge of gear...i have little knowledge of gear but a lot of knowledge on the role hormones play in both the male & female body and as a trainer so should she.

alayna, are some of these synthetic estrogens even avoidable anymore? i mean, i can avoid plastics and canned goods to stay away from BPA... but idk for meat and dairy... what are we supposed to eat everything organic?

alayna's picture

Yes thats all you should eat...every store pretty much sells organic meat and dairy. organics are not much more expensive. food is so overpriced that organics are competitive in price. also you may want to avoid farm raised fish...if you read what they feed the salmon you'll be shocked. The nutritional value of food has decreased bec small farms are not supported any longer. these big companies like Tyson take over and they treat the animals so inhumanely and keep them in such deplorable conditions that the animals get sick so they pump them up with antibiotics and hormones to make them fat. they have no regard for the quality of their product or the consumer its all about making money. personally, nearly All my food is organic..def my chicken and dairy.

What ur saying make sense, ru some kind of scientist to know all that?

alayna's picture

haha no im not a scientist but i've done a hell of a lot of research...its really scary how much synthetic hormones are prevalent in our environment and fyi BPA affects men moreso then women.

a lot of high or low estrogen can be completely genetic. meaning that no matter what you eat or dont eat, products you use or don't use, nothing will make enough of a difference. In other words estrogen levels can be off and having no relation to environmental factors.

But you are right environmental estrogens do play a role as well.

What is causing Low T is LACK of proper diet and exercise. (not discounting the occasional health issue) and it is a natural part of aging which is only now getting the attention it needs.

Technology has us working less physically and spending our free time in front of a TV, video game, or computer. Instead of family walks, bike rides, and softball games. (things we used to do in the 70's kids)

Lower muscle mass, higher body fat/estrogen, poor diet (one or 2 big meals a day) = lower metabolism = low T.

She is correct in saying that if you start back up and eat right, and exercise you can increase your natural test levels. But, she is incorrect to say that a 70 year old who eats properly and exercises will have the same T levels as an 18 year old

Bro science vs School science debate never ends good.
I got friends at late 20's who already choose to blast and cruise. My question will be after how many months/years of not comming off cycle can messed up ur testis for life?

Or simply just to keep people from getting big & muscular. Kinda like cock blocking you or muscle blocking you lol

I saw a PT trying to get someone who had never lifted before to do 70kg lunges. To take 70kg on each leg is like asking a noob to squat 140kg. WTF.
They charge £33 per hour for personal training!!!

In my gym... The main personal trainer got her "certification" online in a crash course as well. She's rather overweight and just WOULD NOT concede to me that I know how to diet properly for my goals ( no clue I use aas) She ended up going to Weight Watchers to learn how to eat....and she trains people.
