Trying to walk after getting out of bed this morning was a blast from the past lol.......... not done it for a loooong time but i wore my aged, raggedy calf shoes that i made about 20yrs ago,,,,,,,,, i wore them for a two hour session in the gym and wore them around the house for the rest of the day and evening (just walking around cooking etc)......... seriously i feel like its the first time my calves have been hit properly for ages, the Gastrocnemus and the harder to hit Soleous are screaming!!.
These are going on every session now....... i dont care how stupid they look or who laughs lol.......... feels different walking around at 6.5 too hahaa
lmaooooooo...................... thats a bit kinky
Lmao!.. if we had inherited the characteristics of the majority of males in the animal kingdom...this flamboyant "pea cocking" could have been the norm...phwew
you know these are hot also .. a little bit more your speed? it takes a LOT of man to wear red stilletos
Aint gonna lie those are cool...I'd try em on in the privacy of my basement....with the lights off but a flashlight to see how they looked lol
For some strange reason I picture Vik out there prancing around on the stage with the figure competitors showing off his fancy high heeled shoes. ......Check these out bitches mumbling under his breath.....
Im picturing a geisha taking tiny steps brother...no wearing a robe while wearing those around the house lol...no, actually never heard of them. By the looks of them I can see why the calves would be mush wearing them for an extended amount of time. Im looking at my stairs right now getting ideas...
try em brother........ you might get a burn like never before......... your bodyweight alone all up on the balls of your toes will have your calves screaming in seconds
Oh I have no doubt! You know I went straight to my stairs and went up them around 10 times slow, on the ball of my feet, heel off the edge. Just to get a feel for what they might be like. It was like...hell lol. My conclusion is I will make a pair out of an old pair of tennis shoes and I think I'm going to call them bear traps...showed the Mrs. a pic of them to better explain...she said I have problems haha yes, yes I do lol! Thanks for showing us a new torture device brother!
You know wearing Suzy's high heels and calling them "calf shoes" doesn't make it more socially acceptable right? ;)
Lmao brother Catalyst! Would love to see a picture of that! Lol Well done my friend!
lmaooooo............... Crossdressing Crossfitter!!
Post a pic up brother Vike or it didn't happen! Lmao
Hey Vike, are those like the same ones Boyer Coe used to promote in bodybuilding magazines back in the late 80s? A 6'5" Viking must be an intimidating figure! Lol
Hope all is well my friend!
Yes brother, that was the first time i saw them and hacked together my first set, but they fell apart really quickly... the ones i have now are made from an old pair of addidas training shoes with 4in thick plastic blocks all cut to shape and glued in place with epoxy resin instead of nailing through the soles into a wooden block.
I also dug out some ankle hooks that i used to use for hanging upside down and working the Abs......... i dont think i could handle the blood rush now so those went back in the box lmao!
Very interesting brother Vike! We'll have to add tradesman to your many list of accomplishments!
As far as the ankle hooks are concerned, back in the box! Lmao
I'd probably pass out at this stage of the game! Lol
lol.... i am a trademan bro, i build houses for a living
Much respect brother Vike! I wish I had that talent! I'm all thumbs when it comes to home improvement!
I am picturing all of this, lol
X2 lol!
you know what!....... when we had our last calf conversation i forgot to tell you about this trick, you need to make some bro they really hit deep being on the balls of your toes all day.......... its not easy keeping the heels off the ground but i you love deep burn and having to close your eyes and do breathing control to handle the pain....... then they are for you lmaoooo
Be sure not to use a stiff soled shoe or it defeats the object........ flexible soft sole is what makes you work the calf every single second of the day.... glue a bit of rubber , like pond liner on the bottom of the toe block for grip.
i used old inner tube and it works fine.
Any links to a picture of these contraptions?
These?

yeah thats the idea........... you can see how you can make your own from the pic of those black ones.
some say gimmick........... i say ouch!!
they hit me hard enough, some of the lads have been wearing and they love em.......
If memory serves me correct brother Pale, the ones pictured seem to have evolved! I'll see if I can find a picture of those shoes from back in the day! But the concept is the similar!
Shoulder/squat day today. Shoulder is feeling pretty good no fussing so I think Cat's quick shoulder routine is in order...then burnout squats with medium weight high rep to get the heart rate moving!

Good deal. I also did squats and pullups. For the squats I figured it has been a month or so since i did that 30 minutes squat challenge and today it just so happened I had the free weight area to myself so the squat rack was mine.
As some of you may recall the challenge was simply 2x315 every minute for 30 minutes. Similar to last time I started fast and by the seven minute mark I was already four reps ahead, so at that point I locked down the time and stated every set at the .50 mark on the clock. To my surprise that fatigue I felt the first time at the 15-17 minute mark did not happen this time. Matter of fact it never happened, my form even stayed good throughout today. This can only mean my strength and stamina has improved since the last try. Next time I suppose I must add more weight or possibly change it to 3 reps.
So then at the conclusion of the squats I jumped right up and started doing pull ups. I like to do pull ups with both squats and dead lifts to help decompress, I read it somewhere and truth be told my back has responded well to this combination. Anyway, after my sixth set of 6-7 I could fell my legs beginning to give out, they were turning into noodles, lol. So that was it for todays workout. Nothing crazy I know but for me it was just about perfect.
If I had to put down one area I feel like I have made the most improvement this year it is hands down in the squat. I have done great at times on the bench as well including PR's but the squat has been consistently improving, week after week.
I think we are in the same mindset as far as workouts in a way lately. Mix n matching switching it up. No set chest, back, leg, arm, shoulder day. They still come around but with variety. I can say I'm achy sore in areas that haven't been for a while.
To me it sounds like your stamina and strength increase are a biproduct of you tracking your macros and tweaking it to find where you hit on all cylinders. Bad ass really! Shit you say your workouts don't sound like much but that is determined by intensity I think...and I imagine your intensity is sharp. I can do 100 pushups fast not paying attention...I can do 30 with pure focus and body control and be cashed! The way I see it is if your increasing strength on squats...your whole entire self is becoming stronger in all lifts. Anyhow I get fired up hearing about your sesh as well as everyone elses brother!
this is so true. Lot of times people ask me the best way to grow their arms, I tell them squat and put an inch on your legs and you will put an inch on your arms at the same time.
there is no escaping this one ;-)
You worded that better but most definitely brother. Stabilizing the weight of the world on ones shoulders. Takes the whole body. Which creates a necessity for the body to grow in all areas to survive such future scenerios.
Right on, thanks. I have been trying to push things in different directions for sure and it is working. I know we probably all have to work at staying focused and intense with our workouts and trust me, I have bad days and even weeks. When I do I no longer get all bent about it I just ride it out and know the next day or week I will be back with a vengeance.
My legs are pissed today! I figure it is a good day to do bi's and tri's now.
Haha gluttons for punishment! Seated bi and tri work lol.....Good way to look at the days we are "off". It can totally ruin a rather good day for me. When it can be used as ammo to win the next battle.
I hit back today nothing remarkable since i m just starting back except maybe the shrugs... i like doing shrugs.. I can lift heavy ... today i hit the shrug machine standing 8 plates (plus Goth (200 +/-) standing on the back of it .... i do 4-6 sets until i burn out .. which usually means that my forearms go and my fingers uncurl by themselves while i curse the gods for having such a weak grip.. There is just something so satisfying about lifting heavy so none of this ease back into it for me ... i m going all out. I just feel soooo much better.
Fkn HOOYAAAHH! It's damn hard to ease into anything when you're toting 1000hp under the hood! Roast them tires Miss GRRL!
Goth should maybe post once and awhile, we start get the feeling he don't like us...
Grrl has put him in the naughty corner I think.
Let him out to play pleeeeeaaaaasssseeeee.
he's in the basement ;-)
He's been REAL naughty then.
I threatened him with your mother-in-law... he picked the basement ;-)
That was definitely the better choice. Nobody deserves that sort of punishment.
Incline press 15-30 4 sets 10 push-ups
Flat bench 15-30 3 sets 15sec pause15 dips
Butterfly machine 10 reps 5 half reps 5 full reps-isolateral hammer strength 10 reps 3 sets
That got the blood pumping for sure bro!
Unlike Cat's mine wasn't too insane today. I usually take a day or two off mid-week but for a change of pace this week I have been staying at it and trying to work around any sore areas.
Today I figured on doing Bi's and Tri's but with back to warm everything up a bit first. Did a few low weight high rep bent over barbell rows to start, really feeling the squeeze at the top. It actually amazes me how good a pump you can get with just a 45lb barbell with perfect form.
Next I figured I would give pull ups a go. I was slightly wider than shoulder overhand grip. Full clean reps never felt better than today. I went between 6-8 reps for 12-14 sets. Again, they felt amazing today. I felt light as a feather, lol.
Then I finally got around to bi's and tri's. I was good and warmed up so immediately strapped on my tourniquets and switched off 30lb curls of different styles to fail followed by rope push downs to fail. Then finished off with 5 sets of 10-12 of my body weight skull crushers.
Bent over bb rows are a tricky movement for me. Arms overpower the move. When I remember to do just as you did, lighten the weight a bit, I can feel the back being activated. I always equate back with heavy. Back for me tomorrow needed the reminder!
you have to imagine that your arms are like meat hooks and that they don't contract .... it takes a bit to get your head into it but it is just like working a muscle group that you might have difficulty getting pumps with.. untilize the mind body connection
Painted the picture perfect there!
lol... i just know cuz that's what i do ;-) .... plus my forearms are kinda meaty and i can't think of what else i could picture them as that would work for me ;-)
My little cousins have called my forearms bowling pins and proceeded to laugh histerically...needless to say my head was the bowling ball lol...but nope...meat hooks is gangster!
Exactly. In my mind and in reality I am pulling with my lats and shoulder blades. Kind of like pull ups too.
