post up your last lift session!

ad

Mine was Catalysts arm routine...if you don't know...do yourself a favor!

That shit hurt's beautifully! Throw it up! Your last most recent assault on your body underneath the weights! Maybe YOU are throwing weight in a certain manner that will benefit a stagnant day under the weights for the rest of us!

Pale's picture

I bet it will! I will give it a shot for next weeks chest session. I tell you, I am still pretty tender, lol. I did Bi's and Tri's today and some of the tricep exercises were tough to give 110% on.

bolt781's picture

Thanks for posting that Darth! When I superset flys I've always benched to fly. It never even occured to me to go fly to bench. As well as the other lifts. It's always been heavy move to lighter move.

I can feel the pain thinking about it...game on!

Pale's picture

It was truly surprising how much them flies sapped my strength, lol

bolt781's picture

The deep burn was rediculous brother! Going to run this for a while on chest days.

Pale's picture

My chest has an unfamiliar DOMS pain today. Very tender, so I know I done hit them pretty good yesterday bro, lol.

Like I said I have several sites I get in my social media feed and I read at least 4-5 articles a day, sometimes you stumble on something really good. That article is one of them

bolt781's picture

Reached to scratch my shoulder, right pec sinched up...I think I am right behind ya in the unfamiliar doms department lol.

When you do come across a good read if ya have a moment, shoot me the link...I seem to be along the same lines with your approach to lifting bro.

robb's picture

Damn right you'll feel it tomorrow. I'm always looking for a good chest switch up, gotta keep my stubborn muscles guessing....Good on you bro!

In a promo × 1
Pale's picture

Yea, I probably read at least 4-5 articles a day and watch at least that many videos. You don't always get something good from them but there is usually some gold to be found and sometimes it is just reminding us of stuff we already forgot.

Catalyst's picture

Did some nasty heavy negatives this morning on arm training, biceps and triceps. Needed some assistance obviously to hoist them up, but did some 45kg Dumbell negatives on the preacher bench, they hurt. Got a feeling a cup of coffee is going to be heavy tomorrow.

Carrying more weight now for strongman event, gone over the 300lb mark for the first time.

bolt781's picture

I bet they hurt! 100lb db negatives is intense bro! Congrats on passing 300...now I can ask you the question you asked me...how is it putting your socks on?:)

Catalyst's picture

My arms are more today than I can remember in years! I'm training in a new gym owned by an ex Olympia contender. He reminded me of some of the stuff I haven't done in years like these. The guy is an animal to train with.

Socks - challenging! I'm so immobile it's ridiculous. Got my ass well and truly kicked at BJJ last night as a result.

bolt781's picture

The reminder flows down stream because I have my mind set on doing them next arm day! That soreness proves you did damage haha! What an experience to lift with someone of that caliber!

As limber as an oak tree as well. The Mrs. and I did a few pilates classes which Vike had recommended and it did help. Reminds me we should sign up for more...seems time is flying right now though.

BJJ after lifting brother!? I tap I tap haha I'd be extra useless...provided I even knew how to do it!

Pale's picture

Very cool brother. I have been up my weight as well, instead of my top end working weight for deads and squats being 315 I have been hammering 405. I have also been cranking out a lot of high intensity lifts doing complexes.

Catalyst's picture

Nice mate, that'll do wonders for you.

bolt781's picture

A whole plate up is huge brother!

bolt781's picture

So the Mrs. and I hit the beach today. Wasn't pleased with what I saw. Which lit a fire under my ass to really nail down a full body assault!

I'll keep it simple...I deadlifted to squats...repeated...over and over. Lamb of God carried me through a literal 2 hour session. I know I hit 7 plates on squats for 2 at one point and hit the same on deads for 4. Shit pissed me off my hands completely gave out...I haven't lost anymore bf and Im just about fed up with that shit to be honest! Maybe I'm going to be what I should be...a fkn monster!

kodiakGRRL's picture

post up ur diet and lets see if we can tweak it a bit to get it jump started

bolt781's picture

Pm sent:)

Pale's picture

Yea, I have been struggling with the cut this last week. Still not doing bad but my body is screaming for calories.

bolt781's picture

Definitely brother! I was extra frustrated yesterday...venting in a way. It carried me through a hellofa a workout though because I feel it this morning lol I'll keep at it...

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

post up your last lift session!

struggling to type im that knackered................... thats how gruelling it was............... nuff said!!

bolt781's picture

I gather you were the sledge hammer and the weights the recepient! Goddamn right!

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

drove 30 miles to get a session in with my son today........ he,s a fkn animal bro! properly relentless set after fkn set, after even more sets, no counting just wild horse type stuff............ shit! i go at it but fkn hell he gave me a lesson today.

No joking bro... i am struggling to even move my facial muscles tonight i am seriously wasted.... lol.... low carbs dont help either, and i bet i sleep like a dead man tonight...........

bolt781's picture

Haha he is the blood of you and the Mrs! Thats the evolution of it! Had to show pops what was given and learned can be given back and taught! He has got to be quite the specimen brother!

When a sesh gets brutal like that, it can change a man! I know I've hit that blackout moment, maybe a second wind you could call it, where you become fkn posessed! Then when you come through, it's as if a tornado just passed through...dead silence...wtf just happened lol! That moment...fkn complete in every way!

Anyhow like brother Darth said it is truly awesome that you both are able to engage in real time spent together. Sort of becoming a lost art within families. Knuckles bro!

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

he really has got the bit between his teeth now, had no interest in bodybuilding until he hit about 25yrs old.... honest to god he really has got some venom now....... i have to admit he knocked the shit outa me lol........... i dread to think what he would be like if he used roids.

bolt781's picture

I'm game! I'll be on the next plane to the U.K. haha! I need a beast to butt heads with here lifting! Keep training with your boy and you just might be in the best form at 56 come stage time brother!

If and when your boy takes it to the next level he will have a killer coach!........Any chance you and the Mrs looking to adopt? Hahaha Anyhow have a great weekend brother!

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

Thanks bro.......... i have his son this weekend (my grandson).... thats harder work than a 30 set chest routine lmao!!, hes just turned 3 and a right handful............ good though Smile

bolt781's picture

I know just what ya mean brother! Energizer bunnies they are...they keep going and going lol. Almost need a high protein diet just to recover from a day of play with the lil monsters moreso than the lifting. A wonderful exhaustion though.

Pale's picture

That is awesome getting to lift like that with your son.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

I love it bro, its priceless!

28 now and hes really getting to grips with this game......... still natural though which im proud about to be honest.

Pale's picture

Mine is 19 and obviously on a different journey these days but I hope (like your son) someday he comes around and wants to lift with the old man.

Pale's picture

Today I wanted to do a bit of a mixed bag so I started with squats. First with just the bar I like to go all the way down and then like a yoga move breath until I relax down into the lowest squat possible. Then started with two plates and added two each set up to 315 where I did 4 more sets of 6-8.

Next I switched to deadlifts. 6 reps x315 for 7 sets. At that point I decided to make it a back day and locked in to s groove. I next did pull ups alternating grip width each set. Wide, regular and narrow. 5 sets of 6-8 each for a total of 15 sets.

From there on the last pull down I did a different look that I have read a few times where instead of pulling straight down, with a wide grip and my body leaned back at a 45 degree angle I pulled t my chest and held for a one count and slow released back to start. 12-16 reps for 8 sets. I finished off with some strict form rows

bolt781's picture

I like that...starting off with squats then deads to determine where the workout takes you. Shift on the fly in a sense! Just finished up shoulders and tri's. Shoulders are burnt...reading the pause at the chest pulldown makes them feel more exhausted lol!

Warmed up with jumping jacks then started with seated military press 225 for 20 straight to side laterals 30 for 20. Did another set same weight. Put 315 on the bar for 13 then grabbed the 40's but my shoulder said nope...so I grabbed the adjustables put 25lbs and went till failure side laterals. Didnt count but the burn let me know it was working! Took off a plate back to 225 till just about failure...had to be able to rack it then straight to side laterals for a final burnout set. My rear delts suck ass I found out taking a back pic so I murdered the shit out of them doing face pulls to rear delt flys. 5 sets each wasnt counting.

For tri's nothing special just rope pulldowns 3 sets to failure. Then skullcrushers light weight till failure. Was going to go kind of heavy but shoulders were cashed so I just concentrated on the tri doing all the work...keeping as much of the forearm out of the lift as I could. Did 3 sets of those around 100lbs I think...dont know what my eazy bar weighs exactly...fkr is ancient...anyhow it was a good sesh...if you or anyone has some rear delt tricks or tweaks let me know because like I said...yikes...not impressed lol

bolt781's picture

Haha total typo or brain fade 315 for 13! For 3. My shoulder would have exploded even if I could do that...my bad

Pale's picture

Impressive brother. I still cannot hit 20 at 225. I think it is more mental than physical, but this reminds me I need to get back around to breaking that personal barrier. Thanks.

bolt781's picture

Now that it crossed your mind you'll make it so no doubt! One more rep, one more set, weight increase whichever it is when your hitting your presses and your mind will have no choice but to get on board! Knuckles brother!

Catalyst's picture

Today I did my first ever session specifically targeted to strong man competition.

As I suspected, static events no problem, presses, deadlifts, squats bring it on. Mobile / carrying events - oh dear me. I was expecting to be crap, but I admit I underestimated just how crap. Crap is something I'll have to work hard on just to be, I'm beyond crap.

Those boys you see on worlds strongest man are way fitter than they look. Then bare in mind I'm carrying about 295-300lbs of body weight, way less than a lot of those boys.

bolt781's picture

I can imagine brother! Being mobile with tonnage is a different beast. Occasionally Ill grab the 150's and walk the driveway. Whole body shaking like a baby deer! The ache in the knees and entire body is numbing! And thats childs play in that world haha!

Like you said too...these guys are heavier so it's insanity!

They also have been conditioned for that. You have half the battle won with the lifts...so the war is winnable! You aren't the type to settle with crap haha. Quite humbling I'm sure. Anyhow imagine how this will positively translate over to your everyday lifting and workouts. You are going to hit another level training in the gym with this new experience brother! Awesome on all accounts! Keep us updated Cat...knuckles

Catalyst's picture

Stuff like farmers walks etc, the weight isn't a problem, it's my lack of cardiovascular fitness. Heart rate through the roof rapidly. When you look at someone like Ed Hall, he's 50lbs heavier than me and pulling this off. There's the fitness and also a major difference in these guys conditioning to accept pain for prolonged periods!

bolt781's picture

Brother just the thought is intimidating. The initial shock has got to be brutal! I jogged/crawled a mile on sunday with the Mrs. and I felt terribly out of shape. Realizing cardio is something I need to take a little more seriously if I am to continue shedding bf. So in light of you being put through the ringer on a much larger pain scale I will have no excuses!

It was all fine and dandy lifting crazy weight till "ready...set....GO" came in to play haha!

Catalyst's picture

I've never been a fan of cardio, bores the living day lights out of me. Bizarrely my brother represented the uk several times as a triathlete, talk about opposite ends of the scale! He is, quite literally half my weight mind you Smile

kodiakGRRL's picture

I used to do triathalons... I was about 90lbs lighter and I hated running ;-) still hate running lol... will always hate running ...

bolt781's picture

Maybe if we had the moons gravity here it wouldn't be so bad! The impact of it is jarring. Felt like a brontosaurus ...crash crash crash

kodiakGRRL's picture

ummm yeah I m afraid that it's going to break ..lol...

bolt781's picture

Shoot I should probably just ride the bike...then we will see who beats who!

Catalyst's picture

I don't do running. Other than chasing after kids / huskies.....

kodiakGRRL's picture

lmao... I did run after the malinois a year ago ... she decided to take a jaunt through the woods one morning instead of coming back inside ...

bolt781's picture

I agree! I get that "standing in a line" feeling, thinking, geeze I wish this would hurry up! This is basically my thoughts on cardio...

Oh yea the Mrs is 130 and she was bouncing around jogging backwards coaxing me along, jogging in place waiting for me...she loved every bit of my suffering haha

Catalyst's picture

It's a swear word in my house.

I was just not designed for cardio. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

bolt781's picture

Hahaha! Always room for a good laugh! Might very well be allergic to it as well...
