Hilary Clinton is evil and I still hope by some crazy means Sanders is able to take her down. But Trump is still worse and by far more dangerous on the world stage. What ESPN doesn't want is the media turning this into a shitstorm and all the negative publicity that comes with it, it's a risk:benefit analysis and the executives decided that the risk is just too great for them.
Just look at it this way. If something has a potential of costing you millions, would you sit by hoping it goes away or take pre-emptive action to make sure it goes away/mitigate the risk.
