+ 1 Is it good to continue a workout several hours later?

ad

I’m looking for some advice. Occasionally my workouts get interrupted by work related emergencies and I have to stop/pause after completing only about half my overall sets. I’ve never known if it would be better to continue the same muscle group several hours later in the same day, or just chalk it off and let that muscle group begin to recover?

I would say pick back up on your lifting when you can later on in the day - just remember to thoroughly warm back up again because the muscle you have already worked may have started to stiffen already. I am speaking from experience here too because like tonight - I have just finshed free weight flat benching. I am then heading down to the gym in 20 mins to use their Incline smith machine as its awesome for hypertrophy. I get down there and do a warm up again and go. If I now miss out that second part I love doing in there then I feel frustrated and pissed off that I never got it properly finished LOL

Everyday after walking for an hour I use an electric wheelchair the rest of the day so I don’t overwork my legs and allow them to get proper recovery time.

Thanks bro. I just did this afternoon. Haha. It’s hard not to isn’t it? Otherwise I feel guilty or that I’m slacking. I think it’s just been so ingrained in me that sometimes “less is more”, and that hypertrophy really happens during rest and recovery… that I overthink it and I don’t want to waste any progress made from the morning session even if it was only half. I’m sure I’m overthinking it so thanks for the engagement!

Yea, gym does more for my mental well being than anything. The side effect of looking good is just that.. a side effect hahaha
