Cell phone plans!

ad

Hi ladies and Gentleman! I'll make this short and to the point!
My wife and I are looking to get new phones and plans! I'm not tech savvy so my wife who is better than me is doing the homework!
This is a possible Sprint plan:

-2 Samsung s8 phones
-Unlimited text, call and data 4g
-10gb. Mobile Hotspot with each phone
-activation fee waived $60
-$50 credit with the first bill

A monthly bill of about $135 for both phones!
How does this sound guys? Good deal or not! If you know of something better or have any suggestions, please share! Thank you all in advance for your time! :))

You don't need two phones... Earbuds will give you stereo.

I've got a beeper through AT&T and that shit seems to be fine too.

vhman's picture

I saw a guy yesterday that was sporting a beeper. Instant respect!

Engineereddisaster's picture

Important life rule # 347: "Never mess with a bro who's rocking a beeper"

Greg's picture

was he a pimp, drug dealer, or an olde time country doc?

vhman's picture

He was a generic white guy in his 50's. Maybe an astronaut....

Engineereddisaster's picture

You are lucky that he didn't kick your ass. A bro like that is a like a like out of his cage.

I was with at&t for 12 years and never had issues, recently swapped to sprint ro save a little cash. Bad idea! Sprints service is horrible, wont work in certain buildings, lot of dead spots and dropped calls ...galaxy s8. Saving some money is nice but id rather give back the 25 a month i saved and have great service. Once this contract is up or close to ending im definitely switching back.

Theophany's picture

Ok brother C and thank you for sharing your personal experiences! It would appear some providers are better in certain locations! Thanks again my friend for your valued experiences! :))

Greg's picture

I have that plan but with 4 phones. $140 per month.
The hotspot 10gb is for high speed internet, over 10 they throttle you back so you can't stream movies; but you can pay $15 per GB for continued high speed connection if you choose to do so.

If you have not done so, ask about auto pay where they charge your cc automatically each month. That cut our service fee from $160 down to $140.

Pale's picture

At&t here as well. Of all the carriers in my rural type area they have the fastest data

Theophany's picture

Ok brother Greg! Thanks for the heads up about the cc savings! I know you're an extraordinary bright man and very tech savvy! Thanks for all the help you me given me recently, you're such a good person! Much respect Greg and have a great week my friend!

Pale's picture

They also have discounts for different trade groups sometimes as well. Always negotiate

Theophany's picture

Thanks brother Sauron for your informative input! That make it so difficult, my wife was on the phone almost two hours trying to negotiate the best price possible! They fight you at every step to secure their best interest and not the consumers! Thanks again my friend and have a great week! :))

I use straight talk from Walmart it's 45$ a month unlimited talk text and data but the first 5 gigs of data are high speed or if you want you can pay 55$ for 10 gigs of high speed data but I've used straight talk for years and never had any problems

Ok brother Rick, thank you for sharing your experiences! I do like service where you're not locked into a long term contract! Personally, I've never heard of straight talk, you learn something new every day! Thanks once again my friend for taking the time to help and enlighten me! :))

bigrick2017's picture

I got the iphone 7 plus...unlimited minutes,messages,3GB internet and I pay 42 pounds a month...for US 53 dollars.. I think is a good offer...The longer you wait the better deals you get. I made that deal when the new iphone came up!

Theophany's picture

Thank you brother YS for your valued time and sharing of experiences! Our main computer is a Mac! Thanks again my friend!

scootloko's picture

Check out your local Metro PCS if you have them in your part of the country. You'll be surprised. I pay $30 a month, no contract, mobile hot spot, upgrade every 90 days. I have yet to see any benefit of being stuck in a contract and paying more money lol. Some people look at Metro as a cheap ghetto phone company but phone service is freaking phone service. I haven't had any problems with them, nothing but good things to say.

Theophany's picture

Ok thanks brother Scoot! My wife and I are looking further into Metro! Thanks again for your time and valued input! :)). Be well my friend!

Engineereddisaster's picture

I only have a landline since Trump took away my Obama phone so I ended up getting a kickass cordless phone from Costco and that shit is off the hook. (No pun intended!) I can pretty much take it with me to any trailer in the trailer park and get service. Yeah I get a lot of shit from the neighbors about being a high roller And shit but you know what they say....pimpin' ain't easy!

Sam I Am's picture

Lol I actually remember getting one of those around 87. Big deal in those days.

Lmao! Thanks brother Ed for the comic relief! Here I am stressing over a cell phone and you come in and put things in perspective! Thanks for that my dear friend! :))
Brother Ed, I'm closer to 60 than 50! I still struggle with land lines and rotary phones! I long for the simple days of two cans and a piece of string! Or better yet smoke signals, simple, easy and recognizable!
Thanks again brother for your gift of comedy and I hope my comment brought a smile to your face! :))

Engineereddisaster's picture

I've got a Campbell's soup can string system set up in my bathroom so that if I run out of toilet paper I can call the wife for a re-fill.
The rotary phones were badass back in the day but sucked when in a time crunch. Once in during a tren rage trying to call my woman... I dislocated my finger dialing her 1-9-7-6 number trying to force the rotor back to zero after each number.

Theophany's picture

Lol brother Ed! Rule #1 you never want to get stranded on the bowl without a roll! :!)
I too remember trying to forcefully dial it back to zero in my impatience! Wow, I haven't thought about that in a while! Lol. Have a great week my friend! :))

Theo my man. Long time. As a family your on the right track. Me myself, straight month to month cash only. 45$. Never run out of data. And that's not even hooking to a wifi. I love hearing people complain about their data. Like that commercial states. Who's your data. Providers of cells are fighting each other. They are all running off same satellite to tower. Hell llook at Metro piggy backing off Verizon. And a bunch more small company's coming into play. "Cricket". The good ole days of ma bell are over. Depends your region will make the best decision. I could probably get a 30 dollar plan. I just love hearing people talk about their data

Theophany's picture

Brother Ironcarpenter, I hope all is well with you and your family my friend! Thanks for weighing in and offering some solid advice! I like the idea of not being locked into a plan and would rather pay monthly to keep options open at all times! And yes location and region are paramount as far as signals and connections are concerned!
Thanks again my dear friend and I wish you and your loved ones well! :))

scootloko's picture

I use Metro, $30 a month and only ran out of data once lol. I could get more data for $40 but $30 is fine by me. Free upgrade every 90 days, no plan, mobile hot spot. I'll never use a plan phone again.

greenlantrn2's picture

Do you have family you can build a shared plan with? That's what we did, 10 people on one shared plan, with plenty of data and unlimited minutes, it got our monthly bill per person down to $30 or so through at&t. We all pay the one person the account is in up front months at a time and huge savings.

Theophany's picture

Wow that's awesome brother Greenlantrn! I'm happy for you and much respect for having a tight knit family!
Unfortunately, my family became scattered through the years through job relocations, relationships ect!
Thanks again brother for keeping my best interests in mind! Be well my friend! :))

333's picture

You get 2 phones but will be paying on them monthly probably around 40 bucks each so add 80 to the bill then there are hidden fees they saybtjere isn't but there are I had sprint for years then went to Verizon my phone is almost played off once it is I will be going to a pre paid where they charge 50 bucks even no tax nothing and it's unlimited everything. So if you can afford a couple hundred dollar phone I would go pre paid I'm going to be on t mobile pre paid here soon enough.

Theophany's picture

Ok thanks brother for your input and experience! Much appreciated my friend! :))

Verizon Wireless

2 Phones & Smartwatch
Samsung S7
iPhone 6s Plus
Samsung S2 Watch

Plan
Unlimited Talk/Text
4GB with rollover data

Price
$125

But that is a great deal you've got going already!

Theophany's picture

Awesome brother Hondarider! Thanks for sharing your plan and price that you pay! This puts things in perspective and I so greatly appreciate that! Thanks again my friend for some solid information! :))

dudebro's picture

I've been using cricket wireless for a few years now and never had any problems. $55 unlimited and they use at&t's network so if at&t is solid in your area you'll be golden.

https://www.cricketwireless.com/cell-phone-plans?woo_campaign=Internal&w...

depending on your usage you could easily find something for less than $100 a month w/ 2 phones. The downside would be I think you have to pay full price for the phones.

Hope all is well with you bro!

Theophany's picture

Why thank you brother Dudebro for you solid advice and accompanying links! That's fantastic and greatly appreciated! :))
I hope all is well with you to my friend! Forgive me for not keeping in touch!

Theophany's picture

Thanks brother Ace, I greatly appreciate your reply! I hope all is well with you my friend! :))

daksmack's picture

Depends on your location. Sprint ain't bad where I am. And that's a good deal, for the package your getting. I'm a Samsung guy myself and the s8 is nice. I would look into seeing if that $135 is a lock down price for the reminder of your contract. I did the same type of contract with sprint some years ago, looked into fine print when one day my phone bill doubled, that's how they get you to buy new phones. Was told we can get you back to that price if you trade your phone in and sign a new contract, so we did....
Good luck

Thank you ever so kindly brother Daksmak for the heads up! The last thing my lovely wife and I need is a bill that doubles! I tell you, they're so unscrupulous! I wish they would keep it simple, effective and honorable!
Thank again my friend! :))
