+ 31 Getting Gear Tested

ad

Getting your gear tested is allot easier then you may think. But you will have to do some serious chemistry homework first. For those of you who live in the USA, most universities offer these services to industry and the public for a fee. First locate a major public university, I say "major" because Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry LC/MS machines don't grow on trees, although some smaller school may also have them.
Lets take world famous UC Berkeley for example, their fees for analyzing samples by LCMS are here: http://qb3.berkeley.edu/qb3/msf/rates.cfm

I agree it is a little pricey at $153 per sample but if you think your going to buy a whole bunch of gear it could be worth it. I have seen fees as low as $10,, sleep with that chemistry graduate student and get all your samples run for free.

How much sample do they need? Literally 1 drop will do, the machines are extraordinarily sensitive.

So what does an LC/MS do? It separates all of the components of a mixture and determines there molecular weights. How does it do this... get a PhD.

So if you test a vial of Test Enth, the LC/MS should show a large amount of ions of molecular weigh 401.31, because that is the molecular weight of the Test Enth molecule,, +1 for ionization. You don't have to tell the people at the facility what your sample is, in fact most of the samples they run are unknowns (that's why they are testing!). Just say your looking for a mass of 401.31. If your sample doesn't have this large number of ions then there is no Test Enth in your sample.

I recently had a sample of the new Syntrop DPL4fifty from one of eroids top 5 suppliers tested. It was suppose to be composed of Test Enth and Drostanolone Enth. It did test positive for a large quantity of Test Enth, but there were no significant ions at 417.33, meaning no Drostanolone Enth, it was fake, but it would still have given me results if I had used it because it was loaded with testosterone. So now I have a question for you, how does anybody know what this steroid or that steroid actually does when you have no idea what's in your vial?

How do you like my first post?

Riekopo's picture

Can you tell me what lab would do it for $350?

Leechfreak's picture

I found

steroidcheck.com
looks ok to me
qualitative and quantitative
based in the netherlands, they accept worldwide samples.

Solid post, broski. I've always wanted to know how to test supplies.

Why not do it yourself with the home testing kit?

http://www.labmax.ca/

will end up cheaper in the long run.

if you have experience with this kit give us your reviews Smile

bigHVW8's picture

only problem with labmax is it only gives a positive to whether the substance is there but not how much. so you could be getting real lose dose and tons of filler.

Any place like that in the San Diego area?

Great stuff! Thanks will definitely look into taking advantage of this at university.

Or if your order gets seized and the po po test it they will let you know. lol.

I don't know it was a good read but I'd personally would be Lil nervous to take a non prescribed drug to a lab to get tested an to think oh they don't have time for Lil ol me is bunch of bull cause that's precisely the kinds they like easy to catch guys that they know they can get court cost an fines an probation fees from you they got to much time for the few Lil guys

Mmmiron's picture

Great info! Not sure if my university would be ok with me dropping off unknown samples for testing though. Might raise some unwanted attention. Smile

I don't know anywhere a private individual can actually walk in off the street and request analysis of unknown substances -with no real scrutiny for their possession of them- when the results come back. Better know someone or get a good fib ready.

Lab supervision isn't as stringent as you might think though Kasinova. Especially for a grad student. Lucky to get your professors to answer an email some days, let alone come into the lab while you run HPLC samples. I'd be more concerned with a nosey, loose lipped lab mate. Many private labs are the same, assuming it isn't big pharma.

Another big suggestion, as mentioned below, don't just check chemical composition. Get it plated and cultured and/or get sterile 0.2 micron syringe filters. The last thing you want is an infection from non-sterile product. Pharmaceuticals cost so much not just because of R&D but because internal use drugs require every batch to have QC work done to ensure dosage AND sterility.

Kasinova's picture

I would just like to add that I am a member of a covert chemistry forum, and all labs must be approved by the DEA to handle controlled substances for testing. They will also report any unauthorized chemicals they encounter. Of course they would, no lab is going to risk millions of dollars in funding for a measly $100. The grad students might be the ones doing the testing, but a professor will be there overseeing their work. If you are just a small user of controlled substances it might not be a big deal, but if you are running a big operation, it might not be a wise idea unless you cover your tracks every single step of the way.

I second the premise of this post but can't thumbs up. Uni labs run the risk of defunding for the whole institution too, so publicly available labs would likely follow the rules to the letter.

But the question someone should be asking: can anyone clarify if Uni labs offering analysis as a public service send cumulative or individual reports for controlled substance positives? Also, do thy require individual identifying info?

Sent you a friend request by the way.

Just got your friend request and accepted, brother. Thanks!

Very nice stuff indeed guy! I agree with this "Getting your gear tested is allot easier then you may think. But you will have to do some serious chemistry homework first". Testosterone help in thickening of the vocal cord, the alteration in body musculature and fat distribution, and the retention of nitrogen, water, and electrolytes.

That's a nice post but is there any chance of law issues in the country (USA) ?
SRSC used to do it but stopped for public analysis

FelixT's picture

Great post!

Snapper125's picture

Are you aware of the laws in the USA? Is there a possibility if I were to have any of my gear tested that I could be reported to the authorities for being in possession of an illegal substance?

Hello, I am new to this forum and community in general. Could anyone offer insight into the prevalence of home/clandestine manufactured gear being sold by sources? I would hope to only ever get legitimate pharma products. Have read various disturbing posts about people and sources home brewing, in their garages even.

I am the "grad student" and work in the field. Given my understanding of the analytical equipment and its limitations, I would never in a million years inject non-pharma manufactured gear unless I saw the production facility and was sure they knew their stuff. Either that or I would run extensive testing on it, specifically for pathogens.

Any insight?

Great post. This is exactly why I started making all my own gear from cattle products. Or purchasing vet pharm AAS. I can invision most UGL labs blindly purchasing powder from china, adding some ba/bb and calling it good. I have used a few sources on this board and never had any satisfactory gains. I have spent several months (close to a year) questioning my training, diet, and rest. Went as far as to see a dietrition, weighed out all meals, kept a food log. Had reminders on my phone to eating, paid a well respected personal trainer, the whole shabang. Nothing better than watching my test crystalize in my kitchen Smile
Honestly I don't think the government has the time to piss around with a few guys having a couple drops of gear tested. Now, I wouldn't go and get every purchase tested at the same university. shit just crack a joke and tell them you have created, what you think is a new element.
It's a revenue stream for the universities. Usually its a great way to pay for the equipment w/out raising tuition or charging students crazy high lab fees to play with acid. It also gives students the opportunity to utilize equipment they will see in their chosen career path. But then again what the f*@K do I know. I'm just a software nerd. Either way I enjoyed the post, and also some of the reply on biogen stuff

HydeMind's picture

Good point. $150 a test is a good bit of cash for the chemistry department and it provides graduate students with experience using the machines. But I'm sure there has to be some oversight by the professors and they could lose million dollar federal research grants if its discovered that they are testing AAS in there labs for the public. Good idea and great post but I'm gunna stick with the ole fashion test of AAS into the glute then hitting the weights.

Thorus's picture

Great post but I don't think they wouldn't ask you questions at an university if you brought them something like that...

As for "no Drostanolone Enth" result...I guess it was UGL?

HydeMind's picture

That what I was wondering. I know the campus police at my school are A holes. They are always walking around campus with drug dogs looking for shit.

Lordajax's picture

Does a university call the police if you have them test gear?

mantid01's picture

Some compound pharmacies can and will provide this service, and or if you call one they can certainly point you in the right direction- I have delt with 3 compound pharmacies in the past and they are extremely helpful, want to solve issues, and are willing to take the time to explain- It's much different that the local pharmacy on every corner

Anyone know how to test concentrations? What if you want to know if something is under or (unlikely)over-dosed?

Roid Noid's picture

there is some guys around here that are doing this but you got to know someone who knows someone Smile

nice tutorial. I guess the reason for not checking blood levels instead is that some of us want to know what we are injecting pre-pin not post-pin.
