Metatarsalgia

ad

Has anyone else had to deal with metatarsalgia? Other than than my shoes being old for the life of me I can't figure out how the hell I got it. How long did it take to go away?

I can relate to experiencing metatarsalgia as well. It involves inflammation, which means I can't exercise. In my case, I found that rest and switching to new shoes with ample cushioning, such as Hoka's, were beneficial. While I briefly tried using foot pads to relieve pressure on the ball of the foot, they felt uncomfortable and didn't work for me personally.

I went and bought a new pair pair of arch support sketchers. I've had the previous pair for nigh on 2 years. Age is a bitch and getting old isn't fun. My feet are feeling better. It went from feeling in the middle of the ball of my foot to the long portion of the big toe and now it's abating on the little toe length of my left foot. Sucks ass to have it and taking care of ones feet is more essential the older we get. Fucking foot asshole! Don't be cheep like me and buy new footwear as the case is needed. Thank you for the responses.

My experience with metatarsalgia has been on the treatment side. I’ve never had it myself, but have had plenty of experience treating it. First thing is obviously shoe wear. Spend the money on a comfortable shoe. Second, is if the pain is chronic, persistent, even in non-weight bearing positions, then you may want an X-Ray to rule out stress fracture.
Now, onto treatment. Ice will help. Look up KT taping techniques on YouTube also. There is a ton more I could share, but will spare you TMI.

I went to school for it. I don’t know everything by ANY MEANS, always learning, but I LOVE helping people get better. It’s a career, but more of a passion. My kids are always asking me for treatment, even when they don’t hurt, they know that Daddy will make their “headache” go away…lol

I put frozen peas on it and elevated. Shit hurt like a motherfucker! My poor baby girl (13 yo) heard me dying and tried to help me to the bathroom. It was obvious after a diagnosis from a pediatrist that my falling apart shoes that I wore all the time were killing me.

I have dealt with plantar fasciitis up until a few months ago, which is pain in the heal/arch tendons of the feet. Would be very painful to walk when I woke up from long rest and prevented me from running/sprinting. I could have rested from the gym and probably would have healed on it's own but I couldn't do that for an extended period. For whatever reason it has recently subsided after 2 years of varying degrees of severity.

I'd like to say the gH cured it since it's gotten 90% better since starting, but can't be certain.

Oofos sandals really helped with the pain, they have a great cushion and don't look like orthopedic shoes lol. I never ended up seeing a podiatrist but if it's really bothering you it might be time for that. Hope it gets better foot pain sucks!

I had thought it was that. I couldn't even step out of bed on my left foot, but it wasn't the heel it was the entire ball of my left foot.

Sucks man, I really hope it heals up for you! For footwear the oofos slides were a godsend for my foot pain. Also the adidas cloud foam shoes were decent and stylish, too. If you're saying pain spread to toe might be worth checking with doc. Might be a form of gout potentially.

Edit: didn't see you already checked with doc so disregard that last part.

Shitty shoes were the cause of my fasciitis also. Walking around a large white stone gravel RV parking lot on a family vacation in shitty sandals is what caused mine.
