This might be a charged topic. What are everyone's thoughts regarding all this culture regarding filming at the gym? There have been a lot of hot button style issues with we bros being "creeps" for checking out our gym sisters. Good lord that sounds incestral! Whatever.
I will place my hat in the ring as saying I do not believe cams are appropriate in any gym setting that includes a membership. If you are truly into filming yourself working out then take your profits from those videos and invest in a home gym setup where you can film your "expertise" in private. Leave everyone else out of it. I mean Marvel studios doesn't film on an open set and I don't wish to be a part of your weird influencer circle.

I literally left my old gym because i couldnt move around it without being catched by a camera or phone.
You know this kind of small gyms where theres people from all backgrounds and ages, always same familiar faces, doesnt matter if you are old, young, fat, thin or roided as hell, everyone is "friends" and its a welcoming atmosphere ... after some time a nearby gym closed and we got a plague of this new generation of idiot "influencers"
I was already irritated by seeing dorks and 20yo att whores taking 30 "workout time!" pictures while i did like 3 sets. Guys doing shirtless bench press to show off on social media. The day i saw a girl bringing a tripod to make instagram videos i cancelled my membership. Needless to say im totally against all this social media era, people are getting so fucking dumb.
The problem is that they have an audience for it as there’s obviously people that watch it or they wouldn’t be doing it I assume. I’d rather it wasn’t done around me personally.
Its one thing for the ladies filming for thereselves checking form and whatever. But when there filming to recieve views on instagram or only fans !!!!! COME THE HELL ON !!
There something about dressing comfortable and dressing for VIEWS. Guys and girls are gona look and if there not looking YOUR DOING something wrong

Filming is more for private gyms that are less busy and have less people that try to start random arguments.
We would have full camera crews following us around a private gym to film for sponsors and the owners would be happy to have us and involved in everything. You cant do that at a private gym, you go to take a picture and everyone hates you.
If you dont go to a private gym then I recommend not recording or have a buddy record you
I really don't care what people do. I'm not so sensitive to such things. I don't mind to be respectful of the hustle or maybe they're recording to see their form. I'm also not a dick if they ask me hey can you not walk this way for a bit. It's the world we live today. No sense in putting any time being butthurt over mundane things. Besides, I love the exposure I get.

Lifted-presence92Filming in the gym is flat out stupid unless you are a pro doing a short clip and tbh anytime I’ve ever seen anyone filming there physique is not impressive what so ever girls and guys. This younger generation views the gym as a social hangout it’s become a trend to workout these days not a passion/hobby.

Last week lil 110lb toofpick set up tripods, cams, phone cams to cheat with bad form...hell naw! His gf lifted heavier and she was built like an avid gymfreak.

Used to be a time when filming in gyms were exclusive to the top pro bodybuilders who were in contest prep. Top of the ranks elites prepping for Olympia/Arnold or other prestigious, national level and known contests. Nowadays anyone and everyone who has a phone is filming and not being mindful to other members who also pay a monthly fee in order to use the facility/equipments.
Times like these I am grateful to know few close friends who own and operate their own gyms and having my own at home set up helps tremendously. Nothing fancy...basic power rack with Lat pull down and mid low row setup. An adjustable bench with bowflex dumbbell going from 10-90lbs, various kettlebells plus 800+ lbs of Olympic plates/135lb basic bar, and 25lb Olympic preacher curl bar. More than enough to get the job done for when I prefer to stay home and clang and bang. Served me well during the pandemic/lockdown.

That’s whyw when you watch all the old school dvds of Ronnie, jay, Kevin levrone, Dorian Yates etc… they only filmed them lifting heavy ass weight bc it’s what the people wanna see! Lol Dorian Yates even talks about it in his documentary he corrected the photographer saying no let me row this 100 dumbbell for the cover of the magazine that’s what the people wanna see. That’s why open get paid much more at the big shows I mean I love the classic and all but I wanna see freaks lmao.
It's one of the reasons why I'm glad I can train at home with all (nearly) the equipment I need as it would do my head in, this obsession in todays society of having to be on the Internet in every brief moment of opportunity when you should be concentrating on other things does my damn head in. I walk along the street and I've got idiots walking straight at me engrossed in phones videoing themselves, I'm in the supermarket shopping and its the same, waiting at traffic lights and they are doing it not watching the road, waiting in the dental surgery its happening, waiting in a shop que and people pay more attention to them than paying for their goods. I swear people will be doing it at bloody funeral services next. I personally think when people are recorded without their consent it should be classed as illegal, because ultimately these clips will be posted online or similar and everyone should have a right to their own privacy especially where they are paying gym fees to be a member of. Hell if it can be made illegal to say 'he' or 'she' when addressing a Non-binary then I am sure that gyms can outlaw this behaviour!
It's a lil different over here. Kinda. I don't care if you are filming at a park, on the street, from your own front yard etc...It's termed a reasonable expectation of privacy. An expectation one doesn't have in public. But a paid gym membership is private and if I'm going to perv on someone it's my dog gone right to do so without video evidence!

Its too cold for the pigeon's to be out over here atm mate, its been snowing the past 2 days so they are all hiding away. Plus all the puke they usually feed on from people on a Friday night is frozen solid so they are busy sleeping currently. We’ve been working out at 5am, so we’ve been lucky enough to not have a single camera rolling. I’m not a fan of it it, but as long as they aren’t holding up the equipment I need at the moment, I really don’t care that much. What I can’t stand is the guy that is browsing his phone in between sets, while doing five to 10 sets on the same damn machine. I would barely have enough time to pull my phone out of my pocket in between sets, let alone browse the net. It’s like, you’re here, that’s the hard part, now get in it. Your phone will be there when you leave the gym. These are the same guys probably running around claiming that their workouts are two hours long, SMH.
Damn gym is more crowded here at 5am than it is at 5pm. I am not a morning person though so it reallly doesn't matter

Agreed. In a public space one has no reasonable expectation of privacy. In a private and paid gym the glove is on the other foot my friend.
Personally, I don't give a shit. If you're filming in a gym, you get walked in front of. No one is there to cater. If there's a hot chick doing the ass enhancement trick for yoga pants, she wants to be noticed, I don't give a shit what anyone says, she just doesn't want others to think she wants to be noticed and personally, I don't see a problem with looking at anyone in the gym, so long as you're not over staring. Normally when I look at anyone I'm checking out their composition and form but lets be real, we all check out way more dudes than chicks in gyms.
