Lets hear your recent PR's

ad

Or whatever accomplishments, it's all good. Today after 6 weeks of working at it I hit 4x10 doing body weight skull crushers. Next goal will be 4x10 elevated. That is my new favorite tricep exercise bar none.

Pale's picture

I was going to have my buddy video it but realized how silly that was and didn't. lol

Pale's picture

I have done it a couple times. Maybe next time

Got to the gym twice in one week, weddings really eat up free time, 2 weeks and life can get back to normal.

Incline bench pressed 160kg for 8 this morning whilst mid way through a course of chemotherapy. Not the heaviest weight, but not bad full of poison.

Theophany's picture

Fantastic brother Catalyst! Nothing is going to stop you my friend! Wishing you the best as is always! :))

Pale's picture

Excellent brother! That is 352.739 pounds for us boneheads on this side of the pond. ;)

Pale's picture

Not a PR but today even tho I still have a bit of pain (especially on pulling exercises) in my left shoulder I decided to go heavier on dumbell shoulder presses today. After thoroughly warming them up with multiple sets of lateral and front raises and medium weight arnold presses I decided to go for some weight on just regular shoulder presses. Instead of working my way to 100 I first jumped right in and failed. So I regrouped and dropped back to 70 then proceeded to kill it 5lb at a time all the way back to 95. By the time I got up to 95 tho I was cooked. Maybe next week I will be back to shoulder pressing the hondo's. Smile

Theophany's picture

That's awesome brother Pale! You're definitely hoisting some serious weight! Mt last set of seated dumbbell presses is about 40lbs for 8 reps! You're lifting double that!
Kudos my friend

Harley1969's picture

Do you do them seated or standing? I've noticed I can do a lot more seated.

Pale's picture

Seated. I would imagine standing would be a sure fire way to line up a back injury with that much weight. By the time I made it back up to 95 I had so many reps in that there just wasn't much left in the tank, lol. I still put 8 reps up @95 but they were not as pretty as I had been. Next week I will get the 100's.

Drop-set's picture

I cant go heavy on shoulder press unless I go bar on the smith. Kicking the dumbell off my knee sucks.

Pale's picture

Yea shoulders are finicky bitches. It is a rare (and I mean rare) day that I don't have some issue with one of mine. I had bursitis in the left one all winter and now maybe a slight tear, but again it only really hurts on pull ups or pull downs of just about any kind. This is the first time I have gone past 60 or so in a long time, probably a year.

Drop-set's picture

Your numbers are great though. I usually stop at 50. I go heavier and it kills my left shoulder trying to get the weight in position.

Pale's picture

When I had bursitis I could not flip the weight up. During that time I used the shoulder press machine we have at the gym.

Drop-set's picture

These bench stories bum me out. I have a partial wrist fusion and it hurts to bench. I do a lot of chest machine. I have big pecs, but no numbers. :(

Breaking-bad's picture

705x3 deadlift (gym video). 575 raw bench (judged) 405x19 raw (gym video) bench 315x37 (bodybuilding comp) 225x54 (rep comp event) those were all don't when I was 280+ body weight. I'm hanging around 265 atm leaned out a Lil for summer. Did 405x10 pretty decent last night. Pretty cool for powerlifters when I did my 315 for 37 I was suppose to go against eric spotto in kings of reps. Then he got injuried... I'm very good at reps. Not one rep max...

Dragon992's picture

Not as impressive as everything I've been reading here... but a few months ago I did 1RM testing on my big 3. At 190lb bw I got 315 on flat bench, 405 on squat, and finally pulled 500 for deadlift.

My current off-cycle goals are 15 reps on muscleups, squat 315 for 10 reps, deadlift 405 for 10 reps, and incline bench 225 for 10 reps.

uminchu's picture

365x6 squat. May not be much for some of you gorillas lurking around here but I'm happy with it.

legendinthemaikng's picture

I have had many strength accomplishments. I did 315 on incline bench for 15 reps. I benched 540 raw for a single ass down. I have had many others but today I did the elliptical on level 18 for 25 minutes and I am damn proud of that PR.

Pale's picture

Right on! That is impressive as hell. I can only hit 315 six times or so. I should try it fresh out the gate once and see if I can up that. I am up to a clean 15 full reps at 225. I am killing the body weight skullcrushers these days as well. My arms have finally cracked 18"! My shoulders, chest, traps and back grow with ease, arms I have had to really work at.

kodiakGRRL's picture

If I hit my body weight on skull crushers .. right now they'd crush my skull lol..

Catalyst's picture

Legend is a strong boy.

Body weight skull crushers for 15 is top work DP. I know guys with bigger arms than you that wouldn't even touch that.

Pale's picture

I love them bro! Nothing I have done has had a more positive effect on my arm size and that is fact. I have shown several of the guys at the gym how to do them and usually it starts with a great deal of frustration for them. They have a very difficult time trusting themselves to point their elbows at the floor. Once they do get over that tho I explain to them in 4-6 weeks time they will be cranking out 4x10's or more with ease. The last couple weeks I have been alternating them with regular dips, one set BW skullcrushers, one set dips for 4-5 each, it seems to cook them tri's pretty good, lol

Catalyst's picture

"point their elbows at the floor"

Talk me through this please mate, interested to hear how you're doing it. I've had a lot of painkillers today, maybe my brain isn't working......

kodiakGRRL's picture

no it isn't you I m trying to figure it out myself

Pale's picture

You can do these feet on the floor or from bench to bench. Off the floor is a bit easier. You know what, this is going to be easier if o just look up a video. Give me a few minutes to find one, lol

Pale's picture

https://www.facebook.com/joeydfitness?fref=ts

It is a pain in the ass but there are no other good videos of it I can find. Scroll down to his February 15th video.

Bodyweight skullcrushers:
Maybe my favorite of all arm exercises cause you seriously need to man the F up to do these especially at 250 pounds.
Now before I get into details: If you have never done these, do not go right into the advanced move and blow out your elbow or tricep. Start with the feet on the floor, hands shoulder width on the bench. As you lower yourself keep the elbows rotated down. Do not let them flare. Letting them flare makes the exercise easier. Tuck your chin to your chest and go so deep the top of your head actually clears under the side of the bench. Even my workout partners who are beasts have a tough time doing 4 sets of 10 with good form. If you can master 4x10 with good form for a few weeks, then try elevating the back feet to increase the difficulty. It is extremely important to fully activate your core keeping your midsection in line. Your arms will blow up from doing these like no other exercise

Catalyst's picture

I wouldn't call that a skull crusher. That's why I couldn't work it out.

kodiakGRRL's picture

ok I m with you ... skull crusher.. easy curl bar laying flat on your back on the bench with triceps at 90 degree angle while you let the bar go down towards your forehead and you press back up ... ??

Pale's picture

Don't kill the messenger, I didn't name it,lol. If you watch the video tho it is about the closest thing you could get to its name. The difference is you are facing down instead of on your back. You are still carrying through in the lift the same way you would a typical barbell skull crusher. (basically) therefore I think the name is decent.

Pale's picture

You have a better name for it? It is kind of a tough one to name. I will vouch for them tho, it really is a top notch tricep exercise. High difficulty to begin with but with weekly sessions you build strength and confidence with them quickly.

Too add a bit to his description. I don't really grip the bench, I more less palm the bench and I am usually slightly narrower than shoulder width for hand placement. In order to point your elbows to the floor and get the full benefit of these you will certainly have to toy with hand positioning.

Catalyst's picture

I call them bench dips. For some reason they're one if the few exercises that still aggravate my shoulder. Those and wide grip pull downs.

Need to start putting plates on yourself for extra weight big fella ;)

Pale's picture

I do switch it up and use chains or plates on the regular dips. But with them I have been going just body weight for the last month or so and repping out. I think my left rear delt is aggravated a bit. It has been getting better the last two weeks so maybe just one more shoulder day with out extra weight, then I will up the iron..

At my current weight of 235 hitting 20 reps at bodyweight doing tricep dips is not a problem.

legendinthemaikng's picture

Skulls are great for mass in the tris be careful I really wore down my elbows doing them for years.

Pale's picture

Right on brother! I have been there and staying that strong during PCT is a feet of strength in and of itself.

I had lots of strength today for chest myself but I have been banging a half a letro with my aromasin for over a week to knock down a couple little lumps, well today I think I reached as low as I want to go on estro because my joints are popping and tendons are a hurtin. The lumps are just about gone so I am gonna drop the letro and let my estro drift back up a bit.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

And thats why Hitman got stronger on PCT ... i bet he ran Ai throughout the cycle?........... this is another reason why i also preach Ai "on hand"............. estro equals power = power equals growth = running Ai cookie cutter style is wrong, but we see it advised every single day.

Ai on hand.... feel the anabolic effects that estro brings and utilise the power levels to maximise your cycles guys.

DBG's picture

I personally like my estro higher than normal. And honestly I always felt better not taking an AI...as a matter of fact I'm gonna quit taking it for a few weeks or just drop my dose first

NoWeakAces's picture

This is another one I learned through trial and error and my own experience. AI is always "as needed" for me now.

And it's these little nuggets that have slowed me giving much cycle advice. If 10 guys give me advice on a cycle containing A, B, and C, my experience can still be different than all 10. Genetically, I'm 1 of a kind. Throw in the facts that my diet and training will differ from yours and boom, my cycle results and experience will be different too.

Pale's picture

The whole AI thing is probably the most unpredictable aspect of everything we are doing. I ran for months at TRT dose with not a single need for AI and then like flipping a switch all of a sudden it is there and growing. We all are different and all respond differently to the available AI's. Adex doesn't seem as stable for me as aromasin but once I have a lump going nothing will reverse it like Letro does, but with letro it builds up quickly and my joints will be popping within several days. I have heard of yet another method I am going to try out soon too but no sense talking about it yet until I try it.

Pale's picture

I try to run it minimal but you know once there is an estro flare and you have a lump or two best thing to do is bang it down. The last time I had to do it I found the estro bounces back pretty quick once you drop the letro. It sucks but it works.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

Yous gonna laugh now... my nips are tender as fuck this week, and thats just from 125mg TRT dose.. i have even dropped the mast/mest combo....... this sus must be good stuff bro.... gonna wheel out some nolva to get this in check.

Just goes to show that combo worked well for me even on big stacks with up to 3Gs of test it stood the challenge.

Pale's picture

The nolvadex I am going to try next. I look at letro as a last resort for me. Some of these guys can actually run it all the damn time, lol. I don't get that at all.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

i can handle it EOD long term......... how you splitting it? i forgot what you told me............ i know some that use it once pr week with results............. folks get to thinking about half lives with Ai products and thats all wrong ..... the actual barrier created by the drug lasts longer at the specific area than any half life advertised..

Pale's picture

We hadn't got to the frequency of nolvadex yet. I will try it at a lighter dose I would imagine to start but I won't get going on that route until I have this all stabilized again. Probably two weeks from now I would guess. Were you running a full 20mg EOD?

betz7's picture

65lbs for 1 rwp on machine shoulder press. I had that pin in the 60 slot, yep most people stopped working out to watch when word spread. Then I said f it, lets go hard in the paint, and I popped that 5lb plate at the top with a pin slot too, so that's right, I had 65lbs at the tip on my hands with the much assisted machine. Then I waited for that hot blonde to nearly pass out from what kind of weight I was about to put up for 1 rewp max, and I exploded through that sh!t, and got a standing ovation. After I took 15 mins of autographs I tore my bicep when I tried for another personal record on the ez-curl. Needless to say, when my bicep heals in 6 months, i'll tackle that 40lb ez-bar curl again.
