As an IT professional I would not recommend doing any of this. you can not be certain of any payload, or exploit the "hack", certificate, or shared log-in would take advantage of.
Freeware is not free. Hacked freeware -even less so.
Besides, any "illegal" activity follows the money and shipping trail; NOT who MIGHT be sitting on the other side of a keyboard in a coffee shop. It is not illegal to browse the internet and research steroids, TRT, bodybuilding, nutrition, and the like.
CleyonAnd your machine may end up being a nice proxy server for child porn! LOL, as a Network Security Architect I should have thought of this earlier.
What guarantees do you have logs aren't being stored by these vpn providers, and turned over to authorities?
this is what the owner of the VPN host states on his site guess you have to trust that is what is actually happening.
Our privacy policy is simple, we respect your privacy since we do not host our servers in countries where mandatory data retention laws exist, we do not collect any information or log any internet activity. We are not required by law to hand any information over unless by court-order, and to date Romania has been one of the best locations for privacy. The only thing we log is the I.P address and time the connection was made. Connection logs are automatically deleted every 3 days, if authorities contact us we simply tell them we have no logs.
Why do they log the incoming IP address and keep it for 3 days?
There is absolutely no need for that.
zewiYou have zero. That’s why you should use a mask ip which changes your proxy, and then connect to VPN. Than the ip your sending to the VPN is fake IP being connected anyway. Instead of your IP address you router/provider gives you.
Cleyon^^^ This! However using any web anonymity scheme gives you another layer that would have to be dug through before it got back to you. There's a reason TOR's logo is an onion. The only truly secure computer is one that isn't connected to a network.
does this set up keep the browsing history from being saved anywhere on the hard drive or in swap files?
or you could just use firefox and turn on private browsing that way no files should be saved on the hard drive
i think it still stores files on your hard drive you will just need to keep clearing your cookies and offline files its just there is no way of tracing you through the internet and keeping check of what you are doing online.
CleyonVPN only creates a secure tunnel between your computer and another. So all the browsing history ect will still be stored on your machine if you have it set to store. Also, the Private browsing only helps if you are trying to keep your wife or kids from seeing that you were surfing porn.
Still very beneficial, not necessarily because it's VPN, but because it allows you to use a different host as the connection point. Depending on where that host resides it could give you a good deal of protection. Basically this means if eRoids was taken by LE they would see the connection origionating at the host computer and not your personal computer.
no shit...hmmm, I'll have to look into this. I get sick of Tor 'sticking' and shit.
yeah i know i thought TOR was a good idea until i began using it, this is so much better the servers are really quick and just makes life a lot easier.
