ad
I am a electrical lineman so I work crazy hours and hardly ever have access to a microwave. Does anyone else have this problem. If so what are some good meals prepped that is nice to eat cold. I know someone is going to say I don't eat for taste I just see gains and yes this maybe true but why not have the best of both worlds if possible.

AnonIf you're a lineman then you're on a bucket truck right? If that's the case take what you would normally eat in your lunch box with aluminum foil. During lunch put your delicious high protein food right on the manifold under the hood for about 10 minutes and boom, hot meal of your choosing. Atleast that's what I have done.
Nevermind, I just scrolled down and saw KMCs post. Delay my last.....
You can cook eggs that way too
Tuna rice and corn mix mayo as a dressing to keep not dry.
Tuna pasta and again a dressing to keep from being dry.
You can substitute any protien and even add beans for more protien to everything
Tortillas filled with any protien on a construction site wrap in tin foil and you can shove it in your back pocket or work belt and eat as needed without touching with nasty hands.
All natural pb right out of container
Hard boiled eggs you can even devil them
Real jerky not thesodium filled stuff from the gas station
I've got a bunch more i used to be a roofer and water proofer burn more calories than you can imagine so had to eat all day long while working with dirty hands. Its really hard getting your diet in working 80hrs a wk I know but possible good luck and good gains brother
Canned tuna and chicken. Hard boiled eggs. Peanut butter, RTD protein/carb drinks.
Hard boiled eggs, canned meat tuna/chix breast, smoked meats of all kinds including fish, Peanut butter, blanched chilled vegetables, mixed nuts (no homo), grilled chix works tremendous as can be utilized with fresh greens (salad) sandwich, fajita, wrap etc. Pulled chilled rotisserie chicken also works great. You can also incorporate fresh fruit like blueberries, raspberries, mango, papaya, etc.
I always like to travel with a large thermos with a real food style shake I make in the am combining products like whey isolate, steel ground oats, and pasteurized eggs/whites. I combine with fruits and sometimes yogurt. Its a great way to keep the body satiated.
Another things I do, ever since I was a kid I have been hooked on cold cuts, which everyone knows totally blows for your diet. What I like to do is early in the week to buy large primal cuts - like Hotel style turkey Breasts and eye round roasts. I like to season, prepare, cook, chill, and then slice as needed in order to make my own cold cuts. In the offseason I also use meats like pork lions and lamb legs as well.
I hope this gives you some ideas brother.
For me it's all nasty cold. I'm always trying to find easy foods to eat cold. Like a lot of these guys said, tuna is always good. Peanut butter and some jelly on Ezekiel bread. If you have a good lunch cooler mix up grapenuts cereal and milk in a blender. It mixes well. I do two cups of grape nuts and 1.5 cups of milk put it in a shaker cup. That's 1065 calories right there. Fast and easy and it will keep you fueled through work. Hope that helps!

I really like that one never tried that its getting added to my list
LMAO at your youngsters............ ok, I pre-date microwave ovens.
Have you considered tin foil and an exhaust manifold???. It just take a little planning.
Yah I too remember our first microwave,...cooking bacon in 2 mins!
For some reason, cooking on a manifold always gave me gas.....bah da da....
RustyhookerBeans n wienies will explode on manifold without vent holes. Lol. Ol school baby!!
Any canned food will explode.
But chicken or sandwich wrapped in tin foil just gets warm to hot depending on exposure and time.
Just another use for tin foil,.............. as opposed to wrapping it around your head to keep the radio waves out.
We know that will never happen.
I'm sure we have a few Federation Academy hopefuls.
ie: space cadets.
backonroidsWhen I'm in that situation I go down the pasta route chicken pasta , tuna pasta , wraps , fajitas , boiled eggs , bananas , milk skimmed as it won't curdle as quick .. shit like that - just buy a cheap cooler bag
I'm not picky. I rarely heat up leftovers at home.
X2,
I eat almost everything cold. Its going to sound nasty but I bake salmon portions until they are dried out like jerky and eat them once they are cold. Fucking yum!!
Merces33letiferDude my man. Smoke the meat. Where I'm from us construction guys always have dried smoked meats in our pockets. not the store bought jerkey stuff. Fish, cow, pig, deer, etc. We also have these seaweed wrapped meat and rice hand meals. But canned tuna is also the bomb.
Rice with low fat chickenburger raisens and green vegs
Wrap with chicken tomato salad onion chunks ketchup
Bagel salamon salad cucumber ketchup
.... here is a good begin read that this is intresting stuff + there are alot of ingredients in it that you can eat cold and you can combine the ingredients to a meal that you like https://www.eroids.com/forum/training-nutrition-diet/workout-exercise/th...
Kind bars, tuna, trail mix, boosts/ensures, peanut butter jelly (roughneck samwhich), wheat germ if you got milk in your cooler, yogurts... im not good at prepping meals for myself when im out of town so just try and pack what i can on ice.
Rice and chicken is good cold i like them mre's lot of food in em just anything is better than nothing i like snacks i can fill my pockets with to eat while im working.
Yep bagged or canned chicken/ tuna is where it's at
Them little tuna boxs are nice with tuna, crackers, relish and mayo
Can of tuna with some balsamic vinegar on it with a handful of rice cakes, doesn't even need to be cold.
There are some chilled tomato soups, like gespatcho that you could toss some diced chicken and some rice in.
Steak salad travels well with hearty greens like kale.
Mediterranean style pasta salads with diced chicken would be good, a little red wine vinegar and olive oil to dress it.
Egg salad with bread on the side so it doesn't get soggy.
And what I call "the freshman" a pint of liquid egg whites straight from the carton and rice cakes. Got me through college.
Cant beat egg salad
RustyhookerChicken wont spoil. Brown rice and broccoli mixed in. You can flavor it anyway you want. Asian, bbq, Mexican , italian...etc etc.
Most dip sauces come in packets or even simple lemon squeezed over top... spelling... caloquin. A guam dish.
Canned tuna. Squeeze out water and splash on hot sauce. Mix in rice. Etc etc. Fast and easy
