Bitcoin
For anyone that didn't already know Bitcoin will be doing a split as of July 31,2017. So half of the nodes will but running software that is not compatible with the current which will result in some nodes propagating confirmed results and that other won't recognize.
Basically, any btc received or sent after may get to its destination or it may not, and on the chance it does make it to the correct address it may disappear which means you lose money even when buying from atms or reliable sources.
This form of payment has become a big part of this community and when a source shared this with me I figured everyone should known if they didn't already. So spend them if you have them or put them in cold storage or on a flash drive or something else to keep your money safe.

If for some reason I've posted this in a wrong area can a mod please either move it or notify me and I'll make the changes.

Lots of up and down roller coaster riding these days but if you guys are not trading the Alts you are missing out. Greg is rich and preparing to move to his private island on XRP alone. Yesterday I doubled my investment on NGC, straight killed it on TRX and XVG as well.
Not sure why everyone is freaking out. I know it sucks to see the value drop however it’s only temporary. You probably have a couple big ballers with a sickening amount of bitcoin that sold big dropping the value of this stuff to turn around and buy more and double their money. Wouldn’t be surprised if it went down around 10K then they’ll buy more and it’ll go back up.
Happens with hedge funds all the time however with a hedge fund it’s more of a risk. Btc is only worth what it’s worth because we put that value on it so I’m positive it will go back up. For now take advantage and buy if you’ve been thinking about it.
These alt coins also fluctuate based on bitcoin so might be a good idea to look into some of them too. My buddy bought in with cardano around $.12 and made 20k off it so play it smart
What's interesting is the recent news that, in America, billions of dollars have been withdrawn from the stock market because of the new tax bill. How many have been avoiding taxes by placing a portion of their money into cryptocurrency, I wonder.
I have watched the alts, religiously and have a pretty good handle on them but have still not traded in any BTC on them to date. In fairness it is hard to beat 1200-1500% return BTC has given but at this point them big gains may be had on some of the alts.
For sure I wouldn’t expect any major gains off of bitcoin anymore and the alts are definitely going to be your money makers but it’s actua pretty genius. Major influencers can sell large amounts of btc which makes prices drop, people freak out and start selling which drops it even further and then they pick up more and the value goes back up to what it was again or even higher.
I have a few buddies who are financial advisors and lawyers and they said it’s a textbook hedge fund play. But definitely pick up some of these alts while the price is down. Ripple and a few others are on Binance now so it’s not like pulling teeth to buy anymore.
"crickets"
Hard to type when you're holding your breath and being berated by your wife, "Why aren't you selling!?"
No crickets, just volatility we knew was coming. Sure it sucks to see the better part of a hundred grand disappear but does anyone really think this is the end? I don't.
We also fully anticipated those without skin in the game to crack bubble jokes and have their fun. For me I am still up an ungodly amount and am confident 2018 is going to be really good.
If you have been waiting to get into crypto today I have a feeling is your day to make the move.
I had the good fortune of trading some on GDAX sold at 17K and placed a buy at 13.5K ... picked up almost half of a bitcoin.
In the meantime it hurts to look at my crypto portfolio balance...
Look for an app called blockfolio on google play, pretty good at keeping tabs on your holdings
I wanted to sell off a couple last Sunday but like before I just haven't been able to pull the trigger. I am trying to convince myself right now to trade in some BTC for XRP but again, I remind myself of Daffy Duck, "mine, mine, mine!" lol
I am curious, if you cash one and just let the cash sit in your account waiting, was that a problem. I know I do that with my stock exchange but I have not done it on Coinbase or HitBTC. I am a little sketchy about using coinbase to trade since they are most likely to rat us out to the IRS.
Coinbase and GDAX are linked you can move funds and coins between them for free and it is far cheaper to place your own buy order on GADX than it is to suffer the Coinbase fees. I have 1 BTC on GDAX so I can take advantages of dips like this one.
I'm not always right. If I place a buy back order too low and the market corrects itself I buy an altcoin v buying back bitcoin at a loss. That's how I got 10 ETH, 10 LTC, 1000 XRP and 3600 CVC
So I "miss it by thaaat much" often...
How long have you had that 1000xrp?
since May... it has been very disappointing up until this last week. (it was a pain in the ass to acquire)
Yeah, it may very well be a buying opportunity.
Time will tell.
It is hard to make money without volatility.
Exactly. But I won't lie bro, sitting back and watching it happen has not been easy. Had a freaking migraine last night, I could feel the disturbance in the force coming lol. If someone is playing with money they need I would caution them to stay the fuck away from crypto and the stock market right now.
A rollercoaster ride is not supposed to be pleasant and calming.
Dammit, I was told a lie!
AnonI'm thinking about dumping my annual bonus into it and seeing what happens.
19.89. Today could be the day she crosses 20k. Now the question is will it trigger selling and drop back a bit or will it flip the afterburners on? One overwhelming theme I am hearing is the difficulty people are having buying BTC. If coinbase and the other exchanges get their shit together a lot more money is poised to come in.
After a slow and sideways week we have a new BTC record.
AnonAnyone else get the "please invest responsible" email from Coin base talking about the unprecedented increase in digital currency and increasing the amount of their support team by 640% to keep up with transactions?
Yes,lol.
Remember kids, you heard it from Ed first. Today is the day to cash in the bitcoins. Today is the day to cut and run.
Today. Today. Today.
You won’t but just remember you heard it from Ed first.
All my love, no homo.
Worried about future short selling?
I did just buy my wifes Christmas present on Overstock with bitcoin, so theres that.
Lol, that’s a start.
It would jack my taxes up bro. Although I read today that APMEX is accepting bitcoin for gold. That could be a beautiful thing, no homo. Well maybe a little ;)
I'm thinking of taking a trip to the caymans or belize to open a bank account.
Sometimes you scare me how much we think alike, lol. This gold thing tho has some potential
Coinbase actually shut down for a bit, they were showing like 19,600 versus HitBTC showing 15,500, I can only imagine there was a run on sell orders at Coinbase. For me alone that would be a quick 40k
I took advantage when it fell to 15k and bought more. Gotta take advantage of these little selling sprees people go on.
It is still reading higher at coinbase. If I wasn’t such a chickenshit I could make a quick 10-15k
I bought as soon as the selling spree started and right before Coinbase crashed when it was around 15-15.1k and got the confirmation before the site tanked so Thank God I got that locked in but I feel like this will be becoming a trend and will be the best way for new buyers to get involved. Paying attention to it and waiting for people to start selling so it dips. Otherwise it’ll keep climbing.
Like another friend pointed out it appears Coinbase is trying to game noobs that are looking to buy in.
I mean I think people should be investing what they can regardless I just happen to invest more when the price drops.
I just got the go ahead from the mrs to start investing a split in btc. Late to the party but better to have a position than not i reckon
18 hours later, over 15K.
2 hours later @ $16,900
At this point, BTC would need a 40% correction to get to $10,000. It dosn't feel like much of a loss if it retreats to a price higher than what we had only a few days ago, and, reinforces the belief that it will go higher on the rebound.
48 min later... $17,600
@ $13,100... 13,110... 13,120...
13,400! Hang the fuck on Captain she can't take much more of this!
Closing in on $14,000 as we speak brother Pale! :))
Edit: Correction-$14,389 on Coinbase!

Bitcoin reached anther all time high today of $11,800! Just read an article where a technical analyst stated that it breached an important $11,395 resistance level and could be reaching $13,000 sometime this week!
Wishing you all prosperity :))
you called it, and only took til wednesday to do it.
Funny thing brother Greg, I entered the cryptocurrency market with apprehension! I purchased Bitcoin at around $2,700 and really wasn't sure what to expect! Thank you my my friend for your edification, knowledge and being bullish on these currencies! You were the one who called it :))
Over 15,000 on the Korean exchanges. Surely there is a way to take advantage of the price difference?
You open account on a Korean exchange.
Transfer the cheap BTC from your US exchange to the Korean exchange
Sell it for the higher Korean value.
Take profit and buy BTC from the cheaper US exchange.
repeat.
This thread is like watching a ticker tape on Wolf of Wall St.! I thought i did well when my order change doubled from €2 to 4!
Enjoy the ride boys, its going to go wayyyyy higher
