+ 1 Just getting back

ad

Hey everyone,

I hope I'm posting this in the right thread.

Anyway, I haven't been able to do anything in regards to lifting or eating right lately. Not so much that I can't and more so that I just haven't because I really don't know what to do.

To make a long story short... doctors put me on prednisone to treat bad allergy issues that caused my sinuses to swell shut and ultimately lose total hearing ability in my left ear and most in my right ear. That being said because of the length of time it took to find a resolution outside of this dangerous medication, I was on it for over a year and my body no longer produces cortisol on its own aka secondary adrenal insufficiency. I'm tapering down on the medication now as we've found a new resolution that didn't involve the corticosteroid.

I've tried getting back into the gym and I'm running into roadblocks. I'm not using and gear or peptides as I'm not in any condition nor have any need to use them. This is strictly to look at my plan for nutrition and an exercise program. I have an idea of where to start my nutrition. My body type is currently 5'10" at 173 lbs and 14-15% bf. Due to my body lacking in creating its own cortisol (it's getting better), I want to add some size back on and get back to where I was again when I was 190 and around 12% bf.

Nutrition Protocol:
- 2700 cal
- 200g protein (30%)
- 250g carbs (37%)
- 99g healthy fats (33%)

I'm wondering if this would be good for getting some size back?

As for lifting protocols, I've been having trouble getting to the gym regularly due to horrendous migraines that last for days on end after and only after workouts. I feel like I'm potentially going harder than what my body can handle in an effort to get back to where I was as quickly as possible. Essentially I'd chalk it up to ego lifting and it's doing more damage than good.

Any suggestions on what I can do moving forward to get back into the swing of things would be very helpful and appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Starting over is tough man and your making the right decision not to jump on the gear train. About two years ago I got back in the gym after 2 years off for different reasons and it was hard not to immediately get on gear but I was patient and waited 20 months to do a cycle. I stayed patient and just worked on training and diet and it payed off as I’m sure it will for you. Best of luck brother

I'd just keep things very simple and don't over analyze everything too much. Try and eat as much as and as often as possible - as much protein and carbs in each sitting if you are after size and strength etc. Just do the big main exercises when you can being bench, rows, squats, presses etc. Illnesses and external influences always seem to come when things are going very well or you are just getting over something else, almost a mind test to see how much you really want something as with most of the big rewarding things in life. Just look at the bigger overall picture 6 months down the line rather than a few weeks ahead...

All I can add is cortisol is a “break down and mobilize” hormone. It’ll take the fuel u got and Catabolize it to be transported to where it’s needed. Without it working out will be tough since a lack of fuel. I wouldn’t think eating more would do much good since the extra calories won’t be deployed. On a positive note anabolism happens best when cortisol levels are minimized

Setbacks and illnesses suck! The only thing you can do is keep persevering and keep seeking good info from those who know!

Sure your in a hurry to get back to where you were. I fall in that trap a lot. Im learning to slow down. Seems every time i think "hell this is getting good" i hurt my self.
Take your time it will come sooner than you think. Just dont push too hard.
Good luck bro and welcome back

For sure... It didn't really hit me until I stepped on the scale and saw that weight. I dropped all the water that was retained from the medicine so I basically pissed out at least 15 pounds of water it seems over the last month or so. Thanks for the positivity bro!

Good to have you back. Sorry about the situation bro. Lots of good guys here loaded with info. Makwa, MedDx, and giardap are a few I'd seek out if I was you. Good luck

Thanks bro. Reached out to Makwa in reference to this already. He's given me great info in the past so I'm interested to get his take on things but thanks for mentioning the other two! I'll try to message them privately to see what they have to say!

I'm not saying just those guys but I know that giardap is a research hound and has a vast knowledge of information at his finger tips it almost amazes me what he comes up with and how fast he does it. And MedDx is probably medically wise the smartest person I've talked to on here.

Ah I understand what you're saying. Honestly I think if I wouldn't have gotten lazy and pushed through from the get go I wouldn't have run into this issue and probably would've recovered from this much more quickly. Just don't know how dangerous this could potentially get with the lacking cortisol production. Being that I saw on the thread about having arthritis and the fish oil helping I figured he'd be the best bet since prednisone is commonly prescribed to treat the inflammation associated with that.
