+ 1 Weight loss and protein.

A guy mentioned to me that he takes in 600 grams of protein per day.
My nutritionist says I only need 60 grams. To keep at 170lb.
I was using 200 grams of protein per day on my bulk.
I cut 50 grams out and went to 150 grams of protein on my bulk and I was still gaining at the same rate.
My question is;
What is the correct formula for how much protein I need on a cut?
I’m 170lbs at 17.5% body fat.
Almost done with my current cut. So this information will be for next time.

I’ve heard anywhere between .8-1.5x bw. If I eat over 1lb per lb my ass goes nuclear. I also didn’t count trace proteins my first year into this, which is retarded lol
My nutritionist told me the same shit. But remember, they aren't bodybuilders. For most of them, their goal is to keep you healthy so they just repeat what they learned in school.
Fwiw, I'm at 1.5x protein per/lb of bodyweight, split across 5 meals, and getting great results.
This can't be real 600g of protein a day, unless this dude weighs 4-500lbs. That would mess up his kidneys eventually. You really don't need anymore than 1.5g to 1 lb. But I tell people try to get close to 1g per pound, and you really only absorb 30g maybe 40g per sitting.
That’s what every one else said. He sounded stupid. He got very defensive and posted pictures of his physique
Isn't it like 1.25g per lb of bodyweight?
Bulk or cut, it doesn’t change. Easiest way is to use 1g per pound of bodyweight. Just keep it there and adjust the other macros depending on goals
This is the whey
I had be told by a doctor helping an obese man that you should up the protein during weight loss. Of course this man was not busy building. He was only trying to stay alive.
That comes from just trying to help overweight people stay full longer so they eat less. Overweight people eat a ton of fat in combination with carbs that are typically from a shitty source that won’t satiety you so they also eat way too much of that ie french fries, potato chips, ice cream, etc.
