Kidney function

ad

Hi all, so had my annual doctors appointment and my GFR was at 40. Normal is 90. Anyone know any supplements that help with this issue? I am a little concerned of course. Thanks in advance

Before you completely panic you will want to investigate further first. My eGRF was reading lower than expected off of the creatinine calculation, but this metric can be really inaccurate for highly muscled individuals. Especially if you have been supplementing creatine and were training leading up to your blood work. Like SeeOhShow said, you will want to get a cystatin C with eGFR test done as it is much more kidney specific and less influenced by skeletal muscle. If you want to investigate a bit on your own Marek Health has the test pretty cheap and you can just pop in to a labcorp any day. I would get a standard eGFR panel at the same time so that you can easily and accurately compare the readings. All in you're looking at maybe one hundred dollars so not much to get a more accurate representation of what is going on. Depending on those results you can make more decisions about how to move forward.

Get a “ Cystatin C with eGFR” test. eGFR calculated from creatinine is pretty inaccurate for our lifestyle. Much more accurate doing the cystatin test

This is definitely where to start. My creatinine eGFR was reading around 70 and my PCP was acting like I was going into kidney failure. I went and got a cystatin-C and my eGFR was 130.

I wish we could get these as standard on our Doctor based blood tests, they don't like doing them due to the fact it costs the NHS more though and obv we get em for free Lol

I've told my VA PCP. Not everything, I only said I take a trt dosage and GH. Which is a lie obviously. I have not lost any benefits but they are pretty annoying about it, aside from the fact that they have me come in every six months for bloodwork, which I'm happy to do. They refuse to test my hormones tho, thinking of if they do I might raise the dosage based on the results or something along those lines. Which is a bummer because I live in one of those states where I can't just go get bloods without a Dr. So I'm winging it.

Unfortunately, kidney function has a very limited capacity to improve once it has declined. Like @Jockstrap said, bp-157 has shown some promise anecdotally. I’ve heard of people getting good results with hgh as well. The main thing is going to be preventing any more damage, which probably means controlling BP a lot better. There are other ways your kidneys can be damaged but unless you are on some chemo drugs that you forgot to mention, it’s almost always chronic hypertension that messes the kidneys up. Work with your doctor to see what can be done.

Bingo! ^^^

Peptide 157 helped lady friend move up like 15points. 40 is getting bad. Latest material looked like 60s is common depending on age. Research bp157. Heals inner ogans and natural in our bodies. Might research hgh too

Thanks I am on 4ius of hgh now and have taken bpc 157. I will look into the education on it.

BPC-157 has lots of promising studies on it showing it helps regenerate the kidneys and improve filtration levels, there have been reports of people nearing the need for Dialysis who ran the 157 and improved so much they no longer needed to be put on it. Do a simple google search and you will see them all.

To clarify on some of the questions below. I go to the VA for all my medical care. I also get disability from the VA. I have not told my doctor as I am afraid I will lose my disability. I really do not run orals but have run Tren at least once a year for the last 5 years. My blood pressure was a little high so doctor placed me on 25mg of Losartan. My GFR went from 75 to 40 in 6 months. I am supposed to go back to get it checked as they said it could be dehydration as well. I do see some frothy urine . I appreciate all the support. Press I am buying supps right now on Amazon. Probably no more Tren for me. Also, side note. Doctor prescribed me 800mg Ibuprofen years ago and took them for awhile. I know this can cause issues as well. Thanks

Any updates??

Thinking about filtering 800mgs of Ibuprofen for a couple days is hurting me, let alone for an extended period of time. I would avoid Ibu, Asprin and a few of those other anti-inflammatory meds moving forward like Press said. They can be extremely harsh on kidney’s especially over long durations. The tren is definitely not going to help your situation either. You might be ok for the first 4-8 weeks depending on dose and ester but it gets to a point where the effects hit hard and recovery is difficult.

I would be drinking a lot of water to try to filter and dilute whatever you can. I only see that as a positive. Kidney function affects so many other bodily processes. Also, it is tied to liver function as well. I wonder if certain supplements could help in getting back to better function but you’d have to research which ones. I would definitely be trying the Bpc157 as recommended as well. That compound has helped me out a lot.

Okay I see your predicament with losing the Disability payment as it possibly wouldn't look good on your part if they were aware you are doing AAS. Do be aware that Losartan can cause a temporary loss of eGFR due to it expanding the renal veins leading into the kidneys, meaning the flow rate is not as high and as pressurised to help save further damage to the filters (Glomeruli) in them. This will come back when you are off it 'if' you come off it - Doctors allow for a 10% decrease in eGFR but if it goes over this they often try you out with a different medication. 800mg Ibuprofen every day will of DEFINATELY had an impact on your kidneys as anti inflammatories limit the blood supply to your kidneys whilst it is active, damaging them over time. As a kidney patient you should no longer take Aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain, instead use Paracetamol as it doesn't cause this effect. The frothy urine is down to protein - specifically Albumin leaking from your blood into your urine as the glomeruli in your kidneys have expanded too much and can no longer keep this protein your bloodstream.

Kidney function can definitely be improved using the right supplements as I have witnessed this myself, I increased my eGFR 5 points in just a month using Astragalus Root powder, Pine bark extract, Grape seed extract, Glutamine, Circumin, Cranberry extract. I simply put all this powder into a drink every night and had bloods done at the beginning and end of the month on the same gear, after 3 days rest from the gym etc. I have also seen another member on here begin to develop low eGFR from running around 800mg Test per month over a number of months - he then came off this and down to TRT level and he gained about 25 points back so all steroids can have this detrimental effect on kidney function. Some seems to be temporary and some that is irreversible. Stop the Trenbolone mate, its not known as being the WORST steroid for the kidneys for nothing - High BP, High Heart Rate and sheer Toxicity from it attacking the kidneys are all a nightmare. Great gains whilst you are on it cannot deny that - but they ALL go by the day as soon as you stop running it so in the end its fuckin pointless. You then end up wanting to stay on it each time to keep those gains and it all becomes a vicious cycle. Honesly try using those supplements for a month or 2 and get bloods done, if you use them everyday you will see an increase in filtration levels.

I also have kidney issues and recently started going to the Va. I was honest about my use and had no issues but also, I don't receive a rating from them. My ex-wife is a NP at the Va, and she sees junkies a lot and they don't lose any money. Maybe look into your bp meds as my pcp wont switch me to telmisartan because it can be rough on the kidneys. Few years ago, I saw a specialist and he wasn't concerned about using test but wanted me to stop creatine. According to him there are no supplements that will help raise the function.

press1's picture

I know a lot about eGFR and take it from me, whatever gear you are using you should STOP all of it now and go on low dose Test or TRT. That is not normal eGFR - that is Stage 3b kidney disease mate. I assume the Doctor has investigated and spoke to you about this - have you made him aware you are using steroids or have used them? If its to do with using them then high blood pressure and Toxicity from things like Trenbolone, Superdrol, Adrol etc will be to blame. You need to find out the root cause of why this has happened - there are a number of supplements that can help increase your eGFR a little over time by like 15 to 20 points but you need to find out the underlying issue.

Also have you encountered anything like frothing/foaming when urinating in the toilet?
