+ 5 Karma is meaningless? U sure?

ad

I have a question. Well a couple questions. First,.. Is anyone confused on what is considered karma whoring?
Give me a list of things you would consider pimping yourself out for points? Let's clear the air.

I already know how much karma means to some of you. And how proud you are of the tag next to your pic. But I'll be honest. About 80% of you who sky rocketed up to advanced or higher in a year or less , you didn't get those points from being an AAS guru and helping everyone in the forum. I can count maybe 10 people in the last 12 months who really dedicate their time to help with cycles and other questions. Other than them, it's almost ALL from posting pics one after another after another like we don't see the patterns. Some even send Mass PM's telling ppl to check out their pics without actually saying "hey give me some karma".

I'm making it clear here and now! I'm going to start digging through ppls karma closely to look for patterns. I hope you don't have a little clique of friends who circle jerk each other's karma because It might just disappear from your page. If you think you might fall under the spotlight and want to come clean, I might let you go with a warning and a doc. Karma may not be important in reality but wait, you sure about that? Because I know of sources who send shit loads of gear to high ranking members in promos thanking them for their service to the site. So there is a lot of free gear at stake which makes it very important to a lot of ppl.

If I find anything suspect and it reveals anything obviously underhanded, unless you came clean , you won't be shown any mercy.

I see a lot of ideas for changing the system. Some are actually really good. Don't not so much.
1). Stop giving karma for gear pics.
Here's the problem with that. You do remember buying that bottle of test e in the gym and dying to get online to check the images on google to see if they match? I do. Or the sust amps. We all had Karachi at some point. Your boy says "yo those are bootleg homie" and you don't wana believe it and again can't wait to get home to check the google images for a match. Those images are coming from the top AAS sites on the planet. Well who is number 1? We are! So those images are your gear pics. It's an important part of the site. But I don't think you guys should be bumping karma for a pic of a bottle of test prop. If there's an impressive stash or big order , letting us know you got it.
2). Put a cap on karma in pics!
Not bad. I can see that. 5 point max with all the upvotes you can handle. Works for me.***
This one is classic,...
3). Have a book and bail system implemented for karma whores
If you get caught in a circle jerk or whoring for pics you get a temp ban (booked) and you can return after x amount of days with a warning and a points dock depending on the level of the offense. Do it again and you get booked with a temp ban but this time no ROR. You gotta pay bail to get back on. $25 fee to the eroids fund. Help pay for the server or any other expenses the boss has. Get 3 months probation (no karma awarded during probation). Do it a third time you're permabanned unless you pay $100 bail and get 3-6 months probation (no karma awarded during probation) with a reset of your score upon your return.
Now I'll admit this is kinda ghetto. But it's actually not a bad idea

Another by iron game

So I'm posting this at the request of a fellow member who could not post it themselves due to some different reasons I dont even understand lol. So just just wanna make that clear, these are not my thoughts, just helping out a fellow eroider who sent me a message asking to post this for them.
"The problem with the karma system is not the people who post pictures. Posting all the time is stupid, but it gives you no karma. The problem with the system is the people giving the karma. People need to think before they click, is this picture appropriate, helpful, a good representation of eroids? Most likely the answer is no, then do not up vote that picture. Make a comment, "nice pic bro" or whatever but do not give people karma just for the hell of it. Limiting the amount of points per picture is not a good idea. I have seen people get 30+ hits but it's normally because of amazing progress or fast results. I have also seen incredibly out of shape people get tons of karma, and this blows my mind. If a person posts a shot and they look like they have never touched a weight, why are you giving them karma?
IMHO Gear pics should not be availble for karma. Post the pic sure, but only because you need to show what you got. Too many people post the same vials in different poses over and over and over that's ridiculous."

How about a slightly different angle? Instead of detailing how points were earned with codes, how about a different tag if you earn x amount of karma from the forum? Lose the tags altogether except for those that have earned a certain amount from advice in forums? Maybe different tags that only mods can award that show thus person is a solid advisor / mentor? I've thrown this idea around before, certain people being giving something that identifies them as a cycle advisor, food advisor, training advisor etc.

I'm proud of the fact that I'd bet 90% of my karma comes from the forums. The rest from gear pics, I don't post self pics due to my line of work and contractual restrictions. I do worry about some of the danger of people with little knowledge dishing out advice because they have an adv tag, but is that enough to make me think it's worth a huge amount of BFG's time to modify? I'm not convinced.

Chucking some ideas into the pot......

I think this is a great idea. The 'value' of karma would increase. You've earned the majority of your karma from the forum, I know that because I see you in the forums helping people very day. Others have been here for like 10 minuets and they almost have as much as you. They may not have a clue what they are doing because they gained most of their points from pics but the new eroider coming in asking for advise is going to trust our system to tell them that this guy is the real deal and he's not. Now this is in my opinion worthy of BFG's time to sort out. It will make the site safer.

I like the idea myself. I've never posted any gear pics and only two self shots but one I asked for no karma. I've earned all my karma in the forums and cycle logs. Be nice to be recognized by tag where u earn your stripes here

New guys do need to earn karma some how. I think it should be by reading, learning and helping people in the forums using their own experience.
It would take longer to get karma and it would involve a lot more work. As a group of people who appreciate, dedicated, persistent, hard working individuals that give back to the community, would this not be the perfect way to gain karma instead of the quick pic with loads of karma gained. A shortcut to karma if you like. I thought we didn't agree with the shortcut mentality?

Didn't say they should jump straight into cycle help. They would need to gain the experience first. Experienced steroid users would start gaining right away as they could pass on their knowledge (if they choose to contribute).
So the people who contribute most and with the most knowledge would have the most karma. Doesn't sound too crazy to me.

No karma for posting pictures, labs, self shots and all that other bullshit . It's a steroid review site, no shit theres going to be pictures for it . that's where that stuff goes. No need to 1 up me for it ..Ok great you received your gear. It was wonderful . So leave a review . Because the smart guys/gals will focus on the review history .

I already explained why this isn't a great idea. Or why it won't happen anyway

I'm pasting this to the top

I've been following, so i guess it's my turn. Get all the new guidelines together. I think that legit karma points for progress pics is a good idea. Keeps motivation high for the real ass busters. Gears pics should be awarded by karma by the srcs. Labs no doubt get karma. With that said just reset everybody's karma and let gets this thing rolling.

that is assuming all sources "give" out gear based on Karma... I know several who do not

Dickkhead's picture

I like my source very much and don't intend to change. He's one of the biggest sources on here and I have yet to receive any information from him regarding free gear. May the Lord be my witness - I didn't know anything about karma = gear until I read about it in this thread. I'm not gonna give the guy any different review today than when I joined eroids and had 1 karma. Or maybe my karma is still too low. Is the magic number 1,000? So someday if I ever get there the flood gates will open and I will be drenched in free gear?
