And just like that...

ad

My gym decides to close it's doors again. Hello darkness my old friend.

I'm mid cycle, I'll find a way to make this work. I have a few friends with home gyms. It's just crazy to think how much I've come to rely on that Iron palace, that tears my body down, and eases my mind.

Regards to all my guys and gals out there facing this struggle.

press1's picture

Wow I've just had a look on Ebay for myself to see what you guys are having to pay to get a small weight set together and the cockroaches really are taking the piss aren't they - $150 for a single 45lb plate!!!!

SO even just to get 6 plates and a cheap barbell you are looking at $1100.

Nothing like trying to take advantage of the situation ......

bigbain's picture

See what I mean?!?! Any where you look , seems people have caught on to the "now" prices.

It's one thing to want top dollar but...........this is nuts! Maybe we can all sell our wrist straps or something along those lines for $150 to buy weights? Lol

Bill G's picture

Bad enough it closed in the first
Just to close again.
Talk about how to rip a guys heart out

Nicolai's picture

Oh, but they sure took out that months payment!

press1's picture

I bet they bloody did!!! Lol

Nicolai's picture

Those cheeky bastards.

BJ's picture

Check offer up app! Lots of crackheads on there selling shit cheap

Achak's picture

Speaking of crackheads they stole my mountain bike last night. It was chained up and now it is gone. They somehow managed to unlock the bike lock.

HLA's picture

The struggle is real!!!
And every jackhole with equipment for sale wants almost $3 / lb for plates at the moment. Even the plastic sand filled crap you see parents buy for their 15 year olds...

Must be out of their damn minds...

Nicolai's picture

Dead ass serious.

junkyarddesiel's picture

Buy weights

Nicolai's picture

That never crossed my mind.

Sorry Bro, I totally relate to your struggle brother. The gyms have have closed again where I live. Thats my therapy, my high point of the day. Luckily there is a gym close to me that lets some of its members come in anyway through the back door.

I feel it. Just when I kicked up the meals and the intensity, bam. No more gym. The PR's and body image is one thing, but it's really about getting my stress handled. Im a angry dude sometimes. Thats cool you have a place to workout though.

That sucks man same around here in Texas everything is closed. My buddy is a personal trainer for his upscale apartments so I just use his gym.

Nicolai's picture

That's really nice your friend hooks it up broski. I'll need to talk to my boy.

My gym opened up about a month ago and but you have to schedule a appointment to go what a joke I there is no way I could make that work around my schedule it like you have to call and ask if people are there and there always is

Nicolai's picture

I ain't even sure how to feel about that broski. How does the appointments work or the limit per time?

xflipside's picture

Bummer, sorry to hear that.

Edited for security reasons.

That sucks. If you were in my rural town I’d let you guys train in my dungeon.

I'd take you up on that broski. I like the name.

The gyms here opened anyway and there have been outbreaks already directly traced to them. They refuse to make anyone wear a mask so unfortunately they are going to end up embroiled in lawsuits. I was one of the gyms biggest supporters going into this but seeing how they are now I am done with them. I have a fantastic home gym so they can fuck off.

Nicolai's picture

Germy fucks. I'd like my gym open, but nobody wore masks here either. That's probably what got mine on lockdown. Good stuff with the home gym. I've only a few free weights broski. Missing the hell out of the 45 rack right about now.

Eagles 2013's picture

The gym my wife goes to requires people to wear a mask when they walk in and when they are in the locker room- but not when they are on the floor actually working out... a lot of good that does. I am in the market for a home gym myself. I don't have much confidence that public gyms will not be shut down again soon in our region.

What kinda logic lol. Good on you big brains for home gyming it up. I'm slightly jealous, but know you all busted your asses off for them.

Eagles 2013's picture

I know right? You would think that the time you need one the most is when your actually working out and breathing heavy!

That’s the way to go. Don’t have to leave home. me and two buddies are chilling in on some gym supplies. Ben he’s and what not. We are going to spend a good amount of cash. Waiting for the closed gyms to start selling their equipment. The energy from a gym is great though.

It's money over people's health.
Need some leadership on it all.

Some governors are starting to grow balls, looking at the science. Now I can send my kid to school, what the school board wanted to do? Everything optional? Morons.

The Planet Fitness, next town over from where I live is requiring masks.

Home gym is where it’s at brother. I know not everyone can swing it, and I feel bad for people that can’t work out, but it was the best decision I ever made

Zee's picture

How was the adjustment I've started working out at home but struggle to get full motivation and intensity like in commercial gyms. It's still work in progress though.

Bill G's picture

It helps just knowing some one is watching. I have all mine in the garage. Better bet when the neighbor's out side I get a little louder. Then I started realizing I wasnt out there for them and hardly even notice them now

Pale's picture

It does take an adjustment period. In my case I started putting together the home gym several years ago and had barely used it. Full Rogue rack, full set of dumbbells I refurbished, heavy bags, etc. Probably around 12k now total but spread out over years. But once I was forced to use it it didn't take long to realize this was better in many ways. The only thing missing is the social aspect.

DfromPhilly's picture

I’ve honestly never had that issue. I don’t really like to be around people tho so it’s probabaly just a personality thing. I got a “block rocker” speaker that gets loud as fuck, I just drink my coffee, turn up some heavy shit and get to it.

Sam I Am's picture

Me to. This morning I was rockin the Capt and Teinell.
Then I tried to “Rock the Boat” before work,
Wife wasn’t amused...
Guess it’ll be The Huges Connection in the morning..
No one under 60 will know wtf I’m talking about.

I grew up in a family store that played nothing but the oldies station. I got every reference. Not sure if that’s a good thing, but I got them nonetheless lol

Still think my state will keep gyms closed forever. But read today they are going to allow yoga, pilates, and karate to open.

Nicolai's picture

Don't say forever broski. That scares me lol. If they open those other activities, I wish you luck on an opening for your gym soon.

vhman's picture

Bummer. There are rumors that they will close the gyms again where I live, the way things are going. I’m hoping and praying to the iron gods to protect our gyms.

Nicolai's picture

I pray they don't close down on you broski. Just because they got me pinned down, don't mean I want another brother pinned down. May the gyms get back online soon!
