just switched from methadone to suboxone last week and plan to be off the subs in the next 2 months

Bigman111's picture

Good luck brother I was on for three years I had to get myself down to a little sliver a day, I was cutting the small enough to make one last about 5-7 days after my body got used to that which took about 4 days I was able to stop, it was uncomfortable at first but not to bad, I just had my mind made up that I was done!! I was put on pain killers from a bad accident and we know how that goes but my dr told me that subs would help me get off and be easier to quite.. I found out that that was bs after awhile, it was just another thing to be addicted to... Good luck to you and hope you find this to be helpful, if you really make your mind up you will have no problems, just takes some time..

my first 16 months I did 12 a week faithfully, worked the steps, started building my life and learning how to get through shit, as I got busier I dropped down to 5 or so a week and always 3 service positions. in the last year I have tapered down to a couple a week and dropped my last service commitment last month. But i sponsor men and stay connected in H&I anytime im needed. I only have one person that I talk to that isnt in recovery and thats my receiver.

speed4goal's picture

That's awesome congrats on being clean, I've been on suboxone for over two years now. The withdrawal from them is horrible for me. Im down to 3/4 of a strip from 3 a day. I go to 4 meetings a month and they are for people recovering on suboxone. Slowly but surely getting there. Was on opiates for 10 years before i found suboxone rehab

CJ,

Glad you brought that up. Ive always been fascinated with documentaries about guys in the joint, and one of the things that blow me away is...What is looking good and being big varies quite a lot from prison to prison. Yes Im sure the politics of who "controls" the weight area is going to play a big part as well as what equipment is available. But I have always had a suspicion. Since prison food in most(not all) places is not nutritious, and probably way too high in carbs and starch as well as not being very assimilatable as much as fresh food, as I know some of the food has been frozen for months. So my suspision is , how do some guys look like walking tanks, have a six pack, and weigh over 220 with hardly any body fat.And at other places, you cant see one guy with a six pack and if you do, he is a skinny guy who just does situps ,pushups and squats with no weight all day long. On one hand, I think the benefit of using "body-weight only" exercises has been way underestimated as Lou Ferrignos trainer once told me as a kid that the best legs he ever saw was on a guy who did only body weight squats and calf raises for his legs. But as easy as it is for those guys to get what they need to get high(and id probably be the first guy in line if I was stuck doing years and years) I wonder why nobody ever talks about inmates being on gear. I say 25% of the guys who look incredible, not just a nice V-shape and toned abs( think of Brad Pitt) HAVE to be on gear of some kind. My amazement is that even with shows like Lockdown and lockup...it never gets mentioned. .So CJ, am I right? Not that you would know of course, but just an educated guess if you had to make one. Id have PMed you because Im afraid the same 5 guys are going to make a federal case out of this. After this question...its back to addiction related stuff,ok gentlemen? -)

I'm sure we all would be kinda curious. And in fact cj, what blows me away is the inverse...when I see docs' on prison life and they have specials focusing on how some of these guys do nothing BUT work out or exercise....some of these guys dont look like they do anything. Is it the crappy food, they cant eat the food or they 'lose' their food? Thanx. In fact I will send you a friend request now in case you dont feel like answering this on the board. good training ,all!

ps-As an aside, Im feeling better today than I have in a long time. I pray those B-12 shots(methylcobalamin) I give myself 2x a week are finally kicking in after 3 or 4 weeks.

silat50's picture

Im sure you are right CJW1, As i said, I am sorry I even brought it up. It was a "read it and move on topic." lol But as long as you have cut down your oxys to under 3 a day and no more than 5 or 6 lines to go with the tren base and tne, i wouldnt worry much about the heart palpitations. your good. -)

Actually, seriously, im just wondering what to do with my tramadol consumption. It mimics an opiate but because its really not, it is harder to get off of, than regular opiates. Harder than heroin some nurses have posted elsewhere. And I cant determine why Im losing my zest to workout...if its just too much pain pills or just being 54. rememeber an in shape 54 and being on medication is not an in shape 34yr old who is also on pain meds. I need to start a thread: Who is over 40 and losing their desire to workout-tell us why!

oversteerisbest's picture

Anyone else feel like training is pointless on opiates, prescribed doses or otherwise?

geneticfreak's picture

im having that feeling right now im tapering down on methadone and it feels like im going backwards in the gym research opiate abuse with low testosterone and the effects it has on your thyroid ive been reading all i can i cant wait till im off this shit i think i got 10 weeks to go

oversteerisbest's picture

Have you asked your doc about TRT? cuz yes all opiates suppress natural production.

silat50's picture

So you have tried and failed to make gains while on opiates? My beef is the gym seems like its 50 miles away when im on opiates/tramadol and therefore lose motivation to train, and was hoping the gear would offset that...but for me it hasnt. I have no doubt, many guys we would be shocked to hear about are usiang opiates and gear and training like animals. Drugs affect people so differently. But I want more opinions about your inquiry, as well, oversteer. My problem is that I cant count myself as the perfect test subject because of my age. I was losing my interest to train hard in my 40's, 10 yrs ago, and long before i ever did an opiate. It would be interesting if they did a survey to find out what the average competing bodybuilder from like 20-30 yrs ago who is now 45-50 and 50-60 have done in modifying the amount of sets, weight and time spent in the gym, if they are even in there at all now. I wonder how many sets Arnold does a day at his age?????????

oversteerisbest's picture

Yeah, my lifts drop too much, dont have the appetite for the calories I need, cant ever seem to get a pump (and thats when I even get to the gym)

silat50's picture

Thanks steer, I was beginning to think you had to be physically ill to lose your energy and/or motivation. I guess what my not very sensitive sister once said to me is quite true when I was lamenting about not having the choices(in everything) I had just 15 yrs ago. She said........... "Brother, I dont care how good you take care of yourself, what you eat or what you do, eventually you are going to be old and grey, and thats the fun part! At that point your skin really starts drying up and getting age spots and wrinkles on your wrinkles until one day you look in the mirror and say "Who the Fu%k is that? And then in a few years,(if you're lucky, you die." (Nahhhh, let me take gear now while my skin is still that of a 39 year old , from the neck down,anyway.-)

Do we really want to look like that grey haired guy on the testosterone ads who has a ripped physique with a 77 yr old face and silver hair. Fu&K that!! Thats almost as bad as wearing a toupee!!!LOL .

AND IF ONE IS ON OPIATES(which I am) you may not even be motivated to hit 57or 58 and still work out. Dont get depressed guys. I know that all the moderators on this board are pushing the vendors day and night to work feverishly to invent the "OVER 65 ANABOLIC". I say Banner or Big D invents it first. Do I hear any Yays!........ or Nays! Look, if a putz like Austin Powers can get Beyonce, I cant give up on gear even at 75. LOL (yes I definitely have my issues.lol )

THE FOLLOWING WORKS FOR ME; Let them find me dead at that age before Im too dried up: bent over the weight bench with 3 syringes in my ass,1- tren A, 1- tne AND 1- test prop, loaded to the max ml's.... a dumbell in my hand, in the middle of a concentration curl and my laptop sitting on the next bench over... with e-roids on the screen with Nitti screaming at some guy.."THIS IS NOT A REVIEW!.DO THAT SHIT AGAIN AND YOUR GONE!!!"What better way is there to be remembered than that???!!!!!!

I just wanted to write in here the substances; steroid-wise, that I would recommend staying away from if you are in recovery. And this applies to those IV drug users in particular, but not exclusively. #1- TNE or Test-Suspension. I say this because after injection I taste the drug, similar to when injecting cocaine, meth, heroin, or any other drug. This was a trigger for me, and made my heart rate explode immediately, and the anxiety was very high. Thinking about this now even makes me nervous lol. #2 Injectable Winstrol. Basically for the same reason as #1. I guess I could probably say anything with no-ester attached could fall into this category, but maybe I'm wrong in this assumption. #3 Dianabol. Wow, what a terrible choice on my part to use this crude substance to try and bulk up. Many people love, and swear by it, but for me it was too much. I felt sick on it. Lethargic, nauseous, dysphoric, anxious, no appetite, etc. While on it, I felt like I was kicking an opiate. It brought back a lot of those bad old times in my mind which in the end I used positively to re-assure myself how bad things were while using. Kinda like remembering the bad times to keep it green, or if you forget, you're doomed to repeat! Also, when I discontinued d-bol I was withdrawing from it. There's no doubt about it to me. Intense for about 3 days, and then it subsided over the next week until where I felt 100%. The feelings included: anxiety, dizziness, teary and weird feeling eyes. It made me nauseous to look at the computer for too long. That brings me to another side effect, nausea, and not being hungry, or when I did eat, I could only eat a little. I just did not feel good at all and it made me think about using. All these hormones did that, and that is why I am writing this. I am no expert in anything, recovery, or steroids, but I do have my personal experience with both. I have over 4 years of recovery, and several years of steroid use. I welcome any comments, concerns, or arguments against this. It's just some information that I personally felt. I'm not saying it will be like this for anyone else, but I just wanted to throw this out there. If it helps one person, my job is a success. Smile

geneticfreak's picture

thats some good 411 man if i tasted anything after injecting it would def remind me about shooting coke it gives me chills thinking about it

Jimmydasaint's picture

Thanks so much for that info. Im five yrs clean and did alot of reaseach to make sure i didnt introduce any triggers into my cycle. Some of those steroids sound pretty enticing and for that reason ill stay away from them. Aint always easy stayin clean. Rather not take stuff if there is additional risk!!! Thanks again!!

oli's picture

No problem, and no it's not always easy staying clean, I hear that! Good luck with everything.
