What's up with the weight differences??
I'm very curious about the weight differences I see around here and at the gym.
I weigh 200 lbs but look way heavier than many people who weigh 10 or 20 lbs more than me.
Is it a matter of skeletal weight and water weight? Are people lying?
I know that my skeleton weighs about 84 lbs and I'm 6'1. I think that's pretty light, but I could be wrong. My wrists are 6.5 in. So 17 in biceps look bigger on me than many people's 17 in arms. And I've seen short guys with 16 in arms that blow me away. Any of you guys know your skeletal weights? Body composition scans are covered once a year by most insurance companies..
I know the scale is a stupid way of measuring progress, but everyone always asks "how much you bench?, how much you weigh?"
There I days I feel huge when looking in the mirror, only to stand on the scale and immediately shrink down to nothing. Psychological effects of low scale weight hurts me often. I even pledge to not ever again stand on a scale, then it just mysteriously happens one day. j
Any thoughts?

Mate scales are very deceptive. Look at Flex Wheeler in the 95 Olympia. He came in at under 220lbs and looked absolutely huge. It all had to do with a you mentioned your skeletal structure and the way the muscle belly sits off the bone. I am only fairly short at 174cm or 5'8 in the old scale and don't look that big in clothes. But when they come off that's when you see what my 105kg or 230lbs really look like. I prefer to go by the mirror rather than weight
I think its eaither muscular density or bone density people often think i weigh like 170 and are surprised when i tell them 207 and my arms are only 15.5 inches
You say you have 6.5 inch wrists. That means you have a smaller skeletal build. Your bone mass probably weighs a lot less than someone with a bigger build.
But a 17inch bicep on a lean 200lb person will look way bigger than 17 on a fattie
I would say it definitely is skeletal weight.I'm 6" shorter than you.I don't recall ever measuring my wrists,so out of curiosity I just did.My wrists are 7.5" at the smallest point.I have 17" biceps at the moment and I weigh 212 lbs.I am no where near as lean as you though.lol
i think its more muscle density and maturity. i mean yea, water weight def has something to do with it too but some people look massive at just 180 while others just look normal. i know im at 196 right now and look bigger than i did at 215
No1Maybe there taller or shorter than you? Maybe they have a smaller or bigger frame than you, maybe they carry their weight differently than you, no 2 people will look the same even at the same height and weight
