Overloading to lift heavier

ad

Sooo I don’t know if there is a name for it. My buddy years ago when we used to want to push ourselves to get more reps at a heavier weight, but only as we were approaching our max we would use the donut principle for batting in baseball. Let’s say we could only do 315 2-3 times. We would put on 355, take it off the rack and hold it feel it’s weight , rerack and drop to 315 and push... it worked great for me... I just wanna hear some insight on that

I think that it is a great way to help break through mental blocks. Personally I always hit a rpe 7-8 single before doing my sets kind of as a last warm up and it always helps the subsequent sets feel lighter.

You may want to ditch that method and give Rest pause principle training a shot. You'll get way better results.

Thanks all, priming just going to see now if I can find more stuff on here about it and the internet... and I know not everything is cut and dry for everyone. I appreciate the comments and thanks again

To be honest dude I use it a lot and its very effective at making weights feel lighter and warming you up to an extra level. I'll bang 470 on the bar and just literally bring it out on lockout, hold it there for a second a re-rack it. Then drop down to 445 and do doubles and triples, it basically 'primes' your CNS.

Alright so would this fall in to the category of a powerlifting thing or mass, cuz I read on here all sorts of stuff personally I see growth on me from it. And strength but you know on here I’ve seen people say things against certain methods based on that person stating their goals and their exercising aren’t geared towards that goal. So basically my question is, does this method get u growth, strength or both? For me I get good results in both areas. And I’m sorry if any of this makes me sound foolish.... I just am curious and wanted to hear feed back. Because I’ll do stuff that people call powerlifting type of sets and sets geared towards mass in an entire work out. When I just do what’s suggest for mass I really don’t see results I have to push until like I can’t even do a push up. Then and only then do I get the maximum results and with that includes a good spotter , super and giant sets and lots of volume ... and diet of course... sorry for ramble...

honestly, this might sound crazy but I didn’t grow up with posters on my wall or like carried stuff around like that not that I down anyone who does. I just don’t have any solid interests that define me to just pick anything like that so I used my forehead lol.
