Elbow joint a bit strained
So I’ve been trying to go super heavy on weighted pull-ups and recently the sides of my elbow are starting to feel a bit strained.
I’m afraid I’m going to injure them, but I just fucking started my cycle and I don’t want to waste them gains you know.
Should I just drop the ego and play it safe? Is the strain I’m feeling not something to worry about? There’s also a vein right there where it feels like that so maybe that’s what I’m feeling?
I’ve never really had this I wouldn’t call it pain but more of like a slight soreness and tension. I don’t know if this is just my joints trying to strengthen or if it’s my joints saying hey this is too much weight for me to handle right now.
It’s weird because at 45lbs plus body weight I was completely fine, but I’m trying to push 55 and it is like night and day different feeling on the sides of my elbows.
Any advice is appreciated.

You can decrease weight and increase reps if that doesn't hurt. Otherwise, give it a good rest. You can't win the game if you're not on the field. Injuries are the absolute worst. In no way is it worth the risk.
Tennis elbow? Watch out. I've had bad tendinitis in my left elbow from heavy pressing and it Will absolutely shut you down. I can no longer do skull crushers
When I was young I use to get it playing baseball it was horrible
I use that term interchangeably, from lack of IQ.. never had tennis elbow then, I guess the wiggling feeling is the tendinitis
Good to do warm up sets but I’m not so sure about stretching beforehand tbh..
That tennis elbow can be a bitch man it’s that nagging wiggling feeling. You’ll stay away from any bicep curling especially straight bar(if you do that anyway) .. I was able to massage mine away over time with hot, cold, hot , cold and resistance band tendon strengthening exercises.
You’re not completely down for the count if the upper cannot be worked I can’t see why not lift legs until that upper injury clears.
Take a month long break from training injury has a chance to heal and also u will come back with more strength and drive.
anvilStop doing anything that hurts avoid it at all costs. Give a break come back in a month or so see if it is still there if it is take it out the rotation.
15 minute full body stretching and core strength before every single workout but I am basically a senior citizen, but I have never felt better.
Listen to your body brother. Nothing worse than an avoidable injury completely shutting down something you’ve planned out, spent hard earned money on and are mentally/physically primed to take on. I did it last year loading broken concrete into a dump trailer at work about 2 months into my cycle.
Will do.
Gotta listen. Good advice. Times I didn't listen I've experienced a few minor injuries. I can't over emphasize warming up enough
Yeah I’m bad about warm up sets. I always feel like they drained me more than they helped, but this is kind of the first time I feel like I’ve potentially risked an injury so maybe I need to start taking them more seriously.
Trust me I feel the same way myself but I know it's beneficial to warm up. Creates a good pump too
HarleyDavidsonEagleFirst and foremost feel better iron brother!!! Drop the ego and go down in weight brother ! Drop sets are king with proper form! I don’t give two fucks what weights I use in the gym , as long as I’m growing and getting results I want than I’m happy ! Honestly I have never looked at someone in the gym and go man … fuck they are huge but why is he only lifting 50’ pound dumbbells …but if I see someone doing sets with strict form , slow and controlled and stretching the muscle and isoholds then that motherfucker has earned my respect . Hope you feel better brother ! At the end of the day you have to do what’s best for you and your body! Take care of yourself !! Check out the links below ! I’m a big fan of John meadows and also DR Mike from RenaissancePeriodization

Yeah this is kind of what I thought. I’m trying to really push myself to get the most out of it and I’m risking myself.
I want to progressive overload to grow, but it’s not worth it at the risk of injury.
HarleyDavidsonEagleYou got this!!! You’re going to make the most gains brother ! Switch it up and I bet you’re going to feel great and get solid pumps ! John meadows does a lot of warm up exercises to “oil” the joints before he gets into certain exercises! For example I know with triceps he always does push downs first with the spongy grips or rope . Superset that with bicep curls and watch the blood flow you get ! Be smart brother you got this ! Strict form and a lot of partial reps … try to avoid using secondary muscles and really isolate
