Elbow joint a bit strained

ad

So I’ve been trying to go super heavy on weighted pull-ups and recently the sides of my elbow are starting to feel a bit strained.

I’m afraid I’m going to injure them, but I just fucking started my cycle and I don’t want to waste them gains you know.

Should I just drop the ego and play it safe? Is the strain I’m feeling not something to worry about? There’s also a vein right there where it feels like that so maybe that’s what I’m feeling?

I’ve never really had this I wouldn’t call it pain but more of like a slight soreness and tension. I don’t know if this is just my joints trying to strengthen or if it’s my joints saying hey this is too much weight for me to handle right now.

It’s weird because at 45lbs plus body weight I was completely fine, but I’m trying to push 55 and it is like night and day different feeling on the sides of my elbows.

Any advice is appreciated.

You can decrease weight and increase reps if that doesn't hurt. Otherwise, give it a good rest. You can't win the game if you're not on the field. Injuries are the absolute worst. In no way is it worth the risk.

Tennis elbow? Watch out. I've had bad tendinitis in my left elbow from heavy pressing and it Will absolutely shut you down. I can no longer do skull crushers

I use that term interchangeably, from lack of IQ.. never had tennis elbow then, I guess the wiggling feeling is the tendinitis

Good to do warm up sets but I’m not so sure about stretching beforehand tbh..

That tennis elbow can be a bitch man it’s that nagging wiggling feeling. You’ll stay away from any bicep curling especially straight bar(if you do that anyway) .. I was able to massage mine away over time with hot, cold, hot , cold and resistance band tendon strengthening exercises.

You’re not completely down for the count if the upper cannot be worked I can’t see why not lift legs until that upper injury clears.

Take a month long break from training injury has a chance to heal and also u will come back with more strength and drive.

Listen to your body brother. Nothing worse than an avoidable injury completely shutting down something you’ve planned out, spent hard earned money on and are mentally/physically primed to take on. I did it last year loading broken concrete into a dump trailer at work about 2 months into my cycle.

Will do.

Gotta listen. Good advice. Times I didn't listen I've experienced a few minor injuries. I can't over emphasize warming up enough

Yeah I’m bad about warm up sets. I always feel like they drained me more than they helped, but this is kind of the first time I feel like I’ve potentially risked an injury so maybe I need to start taking them more seriously.

Trust me I feel the same way myself but I know it's beneficial to warm up. Creates a good pump too

Yeah this is kind of what I thought. I’m trying to really push myself to get the most out of it and I’m risking myself.

I want to progressive overload to grow, but it’s not worth it at the risk of injury.
