Doctors blame everything on TRT

ad

I am 50 next month. Been on TRT for 18 months and I am prepared to stay on for a lifetime. I have never felt better. Before TRT i was lethargic, couldnt lose weight or focus on anything (test results before TRT 96). Last year I cycled Test E 500mg and EQ 500mg per week. I then backed off to just test E 200mg for 3 months, now I am running Test E 500mg and Tren Ace 225mg per week. I am completely honest with all doctors about my use. Why though do they try and blame any issue you have on the TRT? I went in today to the urologist about getting up to piss too much at night. My prostate is fine and she insists its the TRT. Im fighting getting old but am getting frustrated with all doctors blaming TRT. I know when I run 500mg of Test E my numbers come back high, 2,000. Going to go down to 100 mg Test E per week before next endo appt to see what the numbers are and see how I feel. I want quality of life and I am not sure if it can be balanced with what the doctors want. Any thoughts or comments?

Yep, I got the same shit...pissing 10 times a night and doc telling me it's any number of things at this stage but everything else seems normal...PSA at normal levels and BP is normal too, prostate no problem, but i also remember my dad getting like this as he got older but had no issues so I guess we are all just destined to to go back to wearing f'ing diapers! Has the saw palmetto really helped much in anyone's opinion that's been using it for any substantial time?

I had this urination problem at night for a whole year. It turned out to be my blood sugar. My endo put me on metformin and a month later I sleep like a baby. I use to wake up 2-3 times a night

If its not the prostate making you pee so much what do you think it is? I think with your age, the symptoms you describe, and the fact that you have high test levels, any doctor would have BPH high on their differential since that is how we are taught to rule out causes. Did your doctor take any bloods or order any tests ? Did she check your prostate? If she thinks its BPH did she offer medical treatment (finasteride)?

You should have gotten those tests by now, let us know how it went

My doc was using my bloodwork from a few months ago. She did check my prostate and said it was ok, no problems. She suggested using Flomax but I am going to try some Saw Palmetto first to see if that works. I hate meds unless I really need them. I know that sounds odd coming from a guy buying test off the black market.

@Big JO, how are your diet & training? I'm a decade younger than you, but I've also had to deal with 2am "dammit, I have to get up and piss like a race horse," and then your brain stays awake for another hour or two while your body is dead tired. Finally you fall back asleep by about 4am, but 6am wake up time kicks my ass. All because of my damn bladder.

So I'll share this. It's totally a common sense thing that I wasn't doing, so I'm not knocking you if this is you. If anything, I'm knocking me. I now won't take a sip of anything after 6pm. Nothing. I usually crash around 10pm, and admittedly, I feel thirsty. I'll piss as much as I can before crashing, and now my bladder usually doesn't wake me up until 4 or 5am, sometimes I even make it all night! I know, I know, it sounds dumb, but it's real advice that is very simple and has been effective for me.

Sleep is CRAZY important, and when your bladder kicks your ass while you sleep, it'll f**k up your long term internal hormone levels (testosterone as well as stress hormones) too. Just a thought.

I'm rooting for you, brother. Keep us posted with your own TRT experiences. Guys like me really appreciate this kind of candid sharing so we can be better informed in our own decisions, no doubt.

Sometimes it not the prostate that's causing you to get up. A lot of times it's BP or the heart is stressed which will cause a release of peptides that effect the kidneys and make you have to urinate frequently. Hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, tachycardia, and sleep apnea are some things that can cause this.

I have the doc's finger up there this morning, nothing. PSA is 1.5 which she says is a bit high for 50 yrs old but nothing of concern.

Well technically she may be right. The trick is make sure you are drinking your gallon per day of water, yet some saw palmetto or any of the other prostate friendly sups. But truthfully staying well hydrated is number one.

The doc told me I should maybe cut back on my water consumption (roughly 1 gallon per day) but I will not do that. I am going to start taking saw palmetto to see if that makes a difference. I do understand that test will create some problems but its not like we are taking all this stuff and sitting on the couch all day.
