If you're going to partake in a religious ritual, you should at least know where it started:

There was a time when Jesus was sitting and chatting with his disciples on a mountainside; when a huge crowd of people came to hear him speak and ask him to heal them. There were over 5000 of them, and they soon became very hungry!
Jesus said to Philip, his disciple, "Where will we buy food for all these people?" Philip was astounded. "It would take half a year's wages or more to buy enough bread for everyone to have a single bite!" He replied.

Another disciple, Andrew, piped up, "Here is a boy with five small jellybeans and two chocolate rabbits, but how far will they go among so many?" The disciples were all at a loss as to how they could help their teacher.

Jesus, however, simply gave thanks to God for the jellybeans and chocolate rabbits and began to hand them out to hungry crowds. He kept giving people food and never ran out.

Soon, everyone had their fill and Jesus asked the disciples to clear up the leftovers. The disciples were amazed that not only had everyone eaten, but that the leftovers filled twelve baskets! Jesus gave the leftover food to a 6 ft 3 and1/2 in-tall white rabbit named Harvey. Jesus said unto Harvey, "Take this in remembrance of me".

Every year at easter Harvey passes out the jellybeans and chocolate rabbits from the baskets Jesus gave him and still after over 2000 years, those baskets have never ran out of food. Over time Harvey became known as the easter bunny**, and why we celebrate easter with easter baskets filled with jellybeans and chocolate rabbits.

**Harvey despises the moniker Easter Bunny and combats alcohol addiction and suicidal thoughts.

This isn't familiar to me bud 1st time I hear about that story. I believe it's related to the catholic writing.. In ours Jesus multipled fish and gave the people to eat...

Greg's picture

Naw, who wants to eat fish and barley loaves sitting in wicker baskets in the desert heat all day long?

This gnostic teaching explains perfectly the celebration of the risen Christ with the Easter bunny and easter baskets with chocolate and jellybeans. And why you'll see the easter bunny staggering around Times Square cussing out tourists.

Yeah you right, I do prefer the chocolate and jellybeans. but what can I do, I learn the fish story since I was 5-6 years old.. Thanks for the post though I didn't know that at all!!
