+ 1 Do you consider using steroids to be recreational drug use?

ad

If you are not making a living with your physique through the use of these drugs then I consider running gear to be recreational drug use. I am a recreational user. There are many pros and even competitive bodybuilders that look down upon use of these drugs by non competitors. I disagree but believe that everyone is entitled to his opinion. What are your thoughts? Do we have any competitors on the forums who think we are taken a retarded and unnecessary risk?

CLAPPER's picture

I think anything can be considered a recreational drug if you’re not using it for its intended purposes. For me, I try to utilize the minimal amount of anabolics to achieve my desired results. To me, they serve a purpose to achieve something I work hard for.

Opiods, weed, alcohol, and even steroids for some are recreational since for the majority of these users (non-medical cases), they are a way to escape reality, and serve no purposes for personal growth.

An argument can be made that we are escaping the reality of our genetics by juicing.

It is only recreational until you go full on TREN

I’m pretty sure you’re joking but tren is definitely a dividing line for many.

I never joke with anyone on TREN
It is a gateway drug to the DARKSIDE
Meth + Crack + Tren = 10 years in the pen

All of the above. I may be an outlier but I don’t get angry at all on tren. My guess is that most of the association of tren with rage is due to an amplification of how short everyone is while deprived of calories while simultaneously pushing your body to its limits.

Roids are just like alcohol. Some people just get angry others get happy

I think it depends on circumstance. I've been sober since 2012. I have never felt AAS have made me feel impaired until I tried TNE and injectable anadrol. When that kicked in I felt like I compromised my sobriety.

Massa Ron's picture

I know what you are talking about. There is a high that I feel from sublingual anadrol and Dbol that I could see being a problem for someone in recovery.

I’ve never felt like I’m using recreational drugs when I pin gear.

Recreational, therapy, performance, really depends on how you're using it and what your individual purposes are.
I've never met those pros, I believe some would advise caution when running cycles like they do since they know the effect they are having on their own bodies. AAS use is like everything else, when it's balanced right it could improve you life and health, when it is abused it can become detrimental to it. We walk a fine line and those who cross it tend to do so knowing the risks

Drexyl's picture

This is how I look at it.

I agree with your points. I’ve lived a healthier life since starting anabolics as a middle aged man than I did when I was in my 20s. I think the obsessive focus some of us have on bloodwork and overall health more than offsets the risks involved with using steroids.

You see that here a lot. “No one should take XYZ unless you are on stage.” That’s just not the case. 99% of people who take XYZ don’t compete. I think we 100% use them recreationally. Unless you are just on trt. Which would be boring as fuucccckkk. What do the women say? My body my choice!

I find it ironic considering most of these compounds had applications for a population faaarrrrr away from being in stage shape.

Ya for sure! I just think nothing should be off limits if you know what they do to you. And you have done your due diligence then if you wanna take the most hardcore stuff knock yourself out. Some people wanna be lab rats lol

Wtf would give a pro or "competitive BB" a platform to look down upon anybody else using gear? That would be like pro baseball players looking down upon little Leaguers for using bats.

Seems like it would take a supernova sized ego and a hell of a hypocrite to take such a position and actually feel like that's reasonable. Especially considering every one of those fuckers was using gear BEFORE they ever made a dime from it, therby diluting any validity to their position.

Massa Ron's picture

We agree on this. And I’m definitely not saying it is a majority opinion. Most people are too busy living their lives to give a shit what other people do. But the sentiment definitely exists. I have no idea where but I’ve recently seen a similar opinion expressed here on eroids.

Milfpounder's picture

Oh yea I didn't think you were supportive of that opinion. Just shocked at the audacity of the sentiment in general. Fuck em.

If it wasn't for all us recreational steroid abusers, none of these sources would exist and neither would their careers since the lions share of them wouldn't be able to get the juice that keeps the paychecks coming.

They should be thanking us for lifting in our basements, amassing stockpiles of gear, arguing on eroids and living recklessly. We keep competition high and prices low.

I'm standing with my hand over my heart. I've never been more proud to shoot gear and work a day job.

Massa Ron's picture

Your economic argument is spot on. Not only is tue gear cheaper with the bigger consumer base but the quality is better at the lower prices because of feedback and testing by people on sites like this.

Here here. The cup is right. I was not am not and never will be a body builder. I used gear to cheat at sports I was being paid to play no stepping on stage involved and I consider that a far more legit use of peds then the pro card holders with the insane doses and use of compounds even more dangerous then hormones.
