+ 5 Carnivore Diet experiences
ad
Hello to my Fellow Eroidians,
I decided to try the carnivore diet about a week ago to do somewhat of a process of elimination to determine what was causing some inflammatory issues. Now some of you who’ve known me throughout the years have known that I’ve had some serious issues in the past from mercury poisoning and also having intestinal issues which have resulted me in having to go alkaline vegan for a few years which led me to not using gear for about 5 years but also losing about 35lbs of good weight (face palm). I started introducing animal protein again in 2022 where I’ve put most of the weight back on but I’m not yet where I was several years ago. I know the correct path of approach is to see an allergist to reveal the culprit behind what’s causing some discomfort but I decided to take this approach before I spend 1000s and so far, I have to say not only is the Carnivore diet convenient but effective. So far my sleep has improved, mood, stamina etc. I just want to know if any members have tried this diet and what were some positives/negatives? I don’t plan on doing this for too long, probably about 2 months ( I love fruits and veggies) I’m just experimenting with this and would like for anyone to share their experiences.

While on fast, mineral water, Nuun, Gatorade, lemon in my tea, multi-vitamin and mineral supplements, etc...
It sounds like you have some very specific health considerations here while experimenting with extreme diet solutions.
Not enough info to give any real advice to be honest, just that carnivore probably isn't a great idea if inflammatory issues are present (but we don't know the cause here so again hard to say... that's what doctor visits are for) and there is strong evidence that high red meat intake is linked to colon cancer.
I know it's a bit of a meme but maybe Gluten Intolerance might be an issue? If you like fruits and veggies, maybe it's other carbohydrate sources that are doing you dirty.
Perhaps a more balanced "lazy keto" diet might be better long term, at least that way you mitigate any potential issues that might pop up from too much red meat over time. I never did full on carnivore but keto has treated me well for 3-6 months at a time and is easy to maintain as long as you're not a total slut for sugar.
Yes absolutely, this isn’t a long term approach and I know my body can’t digest meat like others. This is just a short term experiment and maybe moving forward I’ll go with a lazy keto or just stay away from gluten all together. I have a lot to read up on and if any of this persists despite cleaning up my diet, I will move forward with an allergist or even perhaps just get an endoscopy. I also eat a ton of spice.
I would recommend a CKD approach where you eat carbs (fruits and veges) one or two days a week. This will replenish glycogen. If your liver glycogen is low for too long the conversion of T4 to T3 will reduce, slowing your metabolism to a crawl.
I also recommend only eating within an eight hour window each day. On the refeed days avoid refined flour, refined sugar, and dairy.
This is the diet I was touting in the 80s and everyone thought I was nuts. But it's very effective.
I used to eat 5lbs New York Strip a day in my attempt to be a scale model tiger lol.
The only negative I noticed was about 6 months in my joints started to hurt. I used to train pretty heavy, but I also thought that it might have been the fact that when you don't eat carbs you don't hold much water. So it may dry out your joints over time?
5 lbs of steak, wowzers!!!! I’m going to use a similar approach in the near future but not that much meat lol. I appreciate the input and you made an excellent point about glycogen being too low for slowed t4 conversion. I’m moving forward perhaps I can just do fruits and meats for a certain amount of time or at least when I come off, I’ll use this approach.
X2 - when you hit the carbs, do it 1-2 hours pre-workout with a little salt and go heavy and hard in the gym to harvest the most gains.
The days you are not eating carbs, supplementing with TUDCA will boost T4 to T3 conversion, lower cholesterol, and improve digestion. Just don't over do it or you might get the squirts. Good luck!
Squirts lmao. Thanks man, I’ll definitely pick some up. Have you looked into athletic greens ?
Yeah it's too expensive for me. I can get what I need from other sources. To be honest with you - you can probably do any diet you want with either ox bile salts or tudca. Those will fix most digestive issues especially if you diet with it.
Thank you so much for your input brother
