Melanotan and pregnancy
ad
I have some melanotan (1.. NOT 2)... my wife was asking if she can use it. She has used mt2 in the past. But she's pregnant now, maybe 10 weeks or so at this point, hasn't had a Dr appointment yet. I told her I don't know. Done some Google work, can't find any definite answers. Of course if there's a possibility it's not safe then no big deal to not use it, she's just jealous that I'm getting tanned and the weather sucks.
Does anyone know for sure if it's safe for her and the baby to use it?

I guess this section isn't very active...
It doesn't matter anymore. We lost the baby.
Sorry to hear that. Had she been using the mt1?
Why would she consider putting anything in her body that could effect an unborn child. As said below its a hormone. Who knows how this would work.
A lot of medications, including hormones, are tested safe and taken by pregnant women. I've found mt has been determined to be safe in animal trials. I just don't know if anyone's read of anything about humans. So I'm asking for facts, preferably by the women here, which I why I posted in the ladies lounge.
shes jealous....? cmon - spray tans exist and sun is bad
inb4 melanotan cover story for why baby doesnt look like you
Sun is not bad. Looking at the sun is, or extended unprotected exposure can cause damage. Sun exposure is very healthy.
And you think absorbing unknown chemicals through the skin would be better?
Are you trying to be funny? I highly doubt use of mt would cause a change in the baby's appearance.
Yes - its a joke.
Blanket statement "sun is bad" is false - tanning damages your skin and accelerates aging.
There is zero safety data on MT in pregnancy - it's irresponsible to take risks for cosmetic reasons while pregnant.
Wrong again. It has been tested on animals and found to be safe. Which puts in pregnancy category 'B' - safe for tested animals, unknown in humans.
anvilIt is a hormone stay away from it.
So is insulin. I hope no diabetics ever get pregnant!
anvilBeen tested extensively in human studies for how many decades. Looks like you made up your mind already, let use know what happens, hopefully all turns out good for you.
Looks like you've completely missed the point. Have a great day
