It's just... not possible brah...

ad

Today at the gym this guy just benched 440 for reps and sets brah. That's damn impressive anyway you look at it but this guy was fat and looked like he doesn't even lift.

I mean like no visible muscle definition or shape and he wasn't even that fat. Average height, average build but a superhuman bench, how is this even possible??

As much as we banter and harp on diet, training, cycles, sups, etc etc. Genetics ultimately wins.

Either a PL or naturally strong. There is a define % of people in the world that have above average attributes including strenght. These people have genetic advantages and we have all seen variations of that.

OR - he just a Anadrol taking PL Junkie!

Some people are just fuckin cock strong! That may just be a southern expression if you've never heard it before, lol

That's a lot of weight. I don't care who you are

440 isn't that much in the grand scheme of things, particularly if the guy is a power lifter rather than a bodybuilder. I train with a well known strong man competitor, benches 550 for reps without breaking a sweat.

Some people are just stronger than others.

let us not forget the arm length factor gents

IrishMack's picture

Agreed. I am a powerlifter as I am only looking for serious strength other then size (although the size is increasing). I shock quite a few big guys at the gym when I benchpress 390 10 times like it's candy or tri pulldowns @240. More then likely he is a powerlifter such as myself.

For this guys size 440 is unbelievable. I swear I thought it was a joke when he loaded 5 plates. He looks maybe 170-180 5'8 20% but when he put that bitch up 5+ times I was in awe. I think he's gifted, no other explanation.

So 5 plates on each side (45x10=450+Olympic Bar 45lbs) = 495 assuming no collars. With collars 500-505lbs.

thefusion's picture

They're 20kg plates, he used the 10kg bar not the Olympic, I forgot to count the bar so technically 464 lbs damn

mikebuie's picture

yea i know how you feel, i seen this little short stocky guy (not fat tho, you could tell he definitly trains but his overall size in relation to his height was far from standing out) load up 465lbs on the squat rack and go into an almost meditation like mode ...

i naturally had to stop and watch because ive seen someone put that much weight on before but then that rat bastard didnt even try it and instead stripped the weight a few mins later. fuckin tease lol.

not this short stocky guy tho, this little bastard started CRACKIN that 465 like i do with 225, ass to grass poundin them bitches out. i seriously was ready to go shake his hand and leave the god damn gym, my day was complete after i saw such an amazing feat lmao

Powerlifters have an inexplicable look about them, even without the definition and vascularity you just know they lift rediculous weight. This guy didn't have that look, no solid gut, no thickness/density just, a chubby "do you even lift"; "u jelly" look. Serious

Muffins's picture

Power lifters aren't in it for muscle definition. Most have that really round hard stomach. Its a different world and I don't know much bout it but when I see that stomach look, I know they can out lift me.
