2-3 meals only while bulking on cycle??

ad

Are 5-6 meals throughout each day a requirement for bulking whilst on cycle or will eating 2-3 meals in a short window then fasting for a large portion of the day (Intermittent Fasting) produce the same results?

In other words, is it simply a matter of calories in vs calories out, assuming equal calorie surpluses in each eating plan?

What about after cycle during PCT??

This is something that it depends on who you talk to. Some will say your body can only absorb X amount of grams of protein per meal and some will debate that and argue that especially while on gear your body can assimilate more so you can ingest more in one sitting. Your question made me do a little research and I found a pretty good article on the subject. http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/protein_size_&_frequency.pdf Basically it discusses that the amino acid leucine is responsible for triggering protein synthesis in terms of quantity/time duration for absorption so in effect the amount of protein that can be effectively used in one meal is predicated on the actual food source. It breaks it down nicely on a chart as well. I think the bottom line as it applies to your question is that even if you are eating the most protein rich foods that can be utilized well in order to grow 2 to 3 meals is NOT enough. You also have to consider other macros and the fact that your belly is going to be very full and quite distended from eating that much.

Wow, that whole insight on Leucine and protein synthesis, completely new to me. Never looked at it like that, you just widened my perspective on protein, thanks! Guess my current diet timings needs some work.

What I picked up on the study actually supports fewer meals just given greater time between them (correct me if I'm wrong), What about the fast where you eat twice a day with 12 hours between them (Ramadan fasting)? About feeling distended, love the feeling, feels like I'm really gonna grow once it digests lol.

I've got to say though, from an evolutionary perspective, IF makes real sense. They had no fridges back 10000 BC, what you hunt you spit roast and eat right there- like theres no tomorrow. Then fast until the next big catch. And we all know how our neanderthal heritage follows us, even in our high tech civilization!

Does that include night time hours or just during the day?

I am interested about this as well. I love IF as it fits my lifestyle but I think I would struggle to consume a large calorie surplus while on cycle.

If you can get the macros and micros you need I don't see why you would have a problem?

Yeah IF is great, I've had strength gains whilest cutting on it, would be great if it had a synergistic effect with AAS
