Body fat scale
I am currently shopping around for a bathroom scale that has the ability to measure body fat % using bioelectrical impedance analysis. I personally do not like using calipers to measure body fat and I often do not trust the reliability as I normally come in way lower than what I believe I am (no way I'm single digits right now but that is what the calipers say...) "eyeballing" myself I would say I'm about 12% but as I continue my cut down to the single digits guesstimating isn't going to cut it any more.
I was just wondering if any of you have one and your thoughts on their accuracy and if there are any that you would recommend over others.
I've never bought one and want to make sure it is a worthwhile investment that will provide accurate info.

They are crap bro. Stick with the calipers but get someone else to take the measurements and preferably someone who will be ruthless with the pinch!
The BIA scale in the gym has me at 9% after a piss and my workout yesterday. Two days before I worked out and on a pretty full stomach I was 16%. and callipers have me at 11% which aligns almost perfectly to the pictures posted below. I agree. Complete waste of money and time. Don't bother.
Do not waste your money on them. I've tried them and they are inaccurate as hell.
You will get different readings if:
you are hydrated/dehydrated
Skin dry/callused, or wet/clammy
before or after taking a dump.
before or after working out.
They tend to be as far off as 5% to 15% at any given time.
The impedance will show me as being 24% fat
The calipers will have me at 14% fat
Hydrostatic (most accurate) has me at 13.1%
As you can see, the calipers (even with my inexperienced use of them) is within 1% of my actual BF; while the impedance is not even close.

These pics drive me nuts. My chest, traps and arms look 8-12% yet my abs say 15%..grr.
I was a little over 4% for my comp and one of those damn scales had me at 17%. Don't waste your money.

Thanks. I think those scales are made for average joes. BB and the like have to much muscle and I don't think it gets counted in the equation properly. Even with the scale set for athletic build the numbers are way off and the lower your bodyfat the further off the numbers are.
I agree with this 100%. That was my initial thought and why I was skeptical going into it. My guess is the manufacturers figure that most people buying them will be the average Joes who will accept whatever reading the scales give and not try to verify it- therefore eliminating any real need for accuracy. Just figured I would do a little wishful thinking and ask you all to see if my intuition was right or not
My is terrible. Said 20 % the whole time while I list 20% of fat and gained muscle.

They aren't that good bro. Best bet have a regular scale and get your bodyfat tested in a bod pod, water displacement or have some one who knows what theyre doing pull with calipers. I watched my wife step on that scale and it was off by almost ten % , she laughed , I laughed , the scale laughed, I shot the scale , was a great day.
