+ 1 The Burger-Dog

ad

Ok fellas, this is something that I thought up one night while while on a very low carb diet and looking to spruce things up a little. It has now become very popular among my group of friends and I decided I should share it with you all-I call it The Burger-Dog

It's a very simple concept and all you will need is some hotdogs, ground beef, bacon and toothpicks. To start, take a hotdog and cover it with 1/4-1/2 lb of ground beef. When you are finished you should not see the hotdog at all, it should be completely covered in the ground beef. Once you have done that, you will then take 2-3 strips of bacon to wrap your ground beef/hotdog meat log. At this point you will have a hotdog wrapped in ground beef wrapped in bacon- with only the bacon showing. The last step is to stick 5-6 toothpicks through all three layers of meat to hold it together and throw it on the grill.

The way the flavors from the three different types of meat blend together is absolutely amazing and it is a very high protein/no carb meal unless you put it on a hotdog bun- which is also amazing!

My favorite part about The Burger-Dog is how versatile it is. It can be used as a calorie dense, high protein meal while bulking or as a high protein, moderate calorie, no carb meal while cutting. It all boils down to what type of meat you use. If I want something that is very calorie dense (although not very "clean") I use a Nathan's hotdog with 80/20 ground beef and thick cut pork bacon. If I am trying to cut weight and want a high protein, moderate calorie, zero carb meal I use a low fat turkey hotdog, extra lean (94/6) ground beef and low fat turkey bacon. Of course the first version taste better, but the lean version is not bad either!

All in all it makes for a very tasty, high protein meal that can be manipulated to fit just about any diet. Let me know what you think!

I am a fan of that as well. As for the Burger-Dog, like I said the nutritional value all depends on the type of meat you use. Just like anything else, the quality of the finished product is 100% dependent on the quality of the raw ingredients. You can use fatty, processed meats and make it a fat kids meal or you can use organic, fresh harvested lean meats and make it healthy.

I could take a cheap chicken breast that has been pumped full of sodium and other preservatives and stuff it full of processed, frozen, store brand broccoli with some highly enriched white minute rice along with some shit store brand cheese and guess what? It's still a chicken breast stuffed with broccoli, rice and cheese but it's pumped full of sodium and lost most of its nutritional value except for the protein.

In the end is all about using your head and choosing ingredients that will produce a meal that is suitable for your nutritional goals.

Plus, eroids isn't strictly a bbing community- there are plenty of power lifter, strong man competitors, flat out hard gainers and others who could incorporate a meal like this into thier diet/training routine very successfully.

Just my $. 02

Well said. Everybody gets so caught up in their own diet plan, they begin to act as if that is the only way to diet. when I first started I was pounding down McChickens and Quarter Pounders every time I could just to pack on the pounds.

Absolutely. It's amazing how much variance there is from person to person. That is why there is no magic "one size fits all" diet. You just have to experiment with different things until you hone in on that personal sweet spot then tweak it as you progress and your nutritional needs change with your body composition and training intensity.

Hell my brother is 5'6, weighs 160 lbs and eats no less than 4,500 calories per day and does not work out or exercise at all. I'm 6'2, 230 (about 10% bf at the moment) and have absolutely no problem putting on weight- I actually have to fight to keep get off... And we come from the same mom and pop and are only 4 yrs apart! It all boils down to discovering the inputs your body needs to perform at its highest attainable level and then busting your ass in the gym to make sure that your reaching your full potential.
