The more I see this on Films and Documentaries on TV where kids are sat in lessons Texting and messaging each other, or simply on the Internet the more unbelievable it seems to me that this is actually even allowed at all.
When I was at Secondary school (High school) during 1991 to 1998 mobile phones were unheard of or at least kids having them anyway, then a few years later very basic ones became available that you could literally Text message and make phone calls on. If you were caught messing about with anything at all during School lessons and the teacher saw you then the item was confiscated till the end of the lesson and sometimes not even given back to you depending on what it was. Seems completely nuts to me what goes on nowadays.

I’m ok with it. The school my kids go to have them put it in a pouch upon entering the classroom. The teacher can decide later on in class if they can have them for the remainder of the time.
My three oldest have always been involved in after school sports and activities so it’s nice to be able to stay in touch in case there’s a change of schedule.
My deal with my kids and cell phones have been they can get one when they start doing after school activities or sports. I have great kids who are respectful and follow the rules. My wife and I can definitely take credit for that.
I know they’ve done it at some schools and kids couldn’t read clocks lol
My wife is a special ed teacher. Phones are always a problem! The bigger problem in the USA is the school system as a whole. Its a joke with the fun Fridays and the overall lack of accountability for the students. Students assaulting staff with little or no consequences. System needs a complete overhaul
During my school years it was absolutely unthinkable that you would assault a teacher - you'd hear of people occasionally swearing at them but in time they were always expelled as they were problem kids.
It happened at my school a few times. Not to mention the pedophile groomer teachers.
So when you were at school - if a sexy 25 year old female blonde teacher told you she wanted to fuck you in the school toilets at the end of day but you of said no??!!
Being a horny af teenage boy I’d have been all over it. Not sure we had any of that happen but there was at least one male teacher who raped a girl after getting her intoxicated.
My woods shop teacher in Junior High fled the country because he got one of the girls pregnant. I always noticed a group of gils in his office all over his desk being allowed to chill in there while the rest of us had to make projects to pass the class and one day we came in and he was gone for the rest of the year.
The sad part in the US the justification is safety, it’s so that you can contact your kid during a school shooting if they’re ok
In reality though, if they have been shot then they've been shot. The phone isn't going to save them - especially by the time the news has got out to the general public and the parent is trying to contact their child.
Number one rule in our active shooter plan is shut cell phones off, radios, anything that can give away your position to the shooter. That one parent trying to call their kid during a school shooting will kill the entire hiding class.
Yep it's crazy some schools allow phones. I say most kids are distracted and it effects them been able to concentrate & learn.
My sons school they have to be handed in every morning and collected after school.
His friends school, kids are allowed phones. There posting all day, acting out and recording it to amuse themselves.
You'd think it would just be a general rule and law at every school, that they are handed in once they are in school and given back when they are leaving.

Yes sir, had to buy my own school clothes in 7th and 8th grade if i wanted to be in style. Moms would buy toughskins jeans and fake converse sneakers lol
I had a full on school uniform and Blazer/Tie that we had to adhere to - So to make it stylish you had to get a nice white Armani shirt with collar and some brown suede Caterpillar Boots LMAO

Ranger3252The school my oldest attends phones are now allowed and it’s enforced by the educators if someone is found to be on their phone. Also every student has a laptop now so I’m sure they can find ways to circumvent the safety rules and websites that are blocked on their issued computers.
My State just passed a law that cell phones during school are banned. The kids have to put their phones in a locker.
If i would’ve had a phone when i was a child in middle school id be famous. I did so much stupid shit when I was a kid.
Very few instances where phones are valuable to have in school. Such as, to monitor glucose levels of a diabetic child. But ya, phones, computer screens, TV, big time/attention suckers and here I am killing time
My sons high school put in new rules this year. They are allowed to use them only during lunch. They can't even use them during a study hall. If they use them in class, the phones get taken away.
It truly is crazy what they let the kids get away with now. These kids need some old school punishment man. Hope your doing good mate.

It’s insane. Teachers are underpaid and don’t want to deal with the kids all bringing guns and knives now. There was a middle school in my city that the rich kids go to and a kid brought a gun and was showing off like a gangster lol. It’s wild these kids. Suburban white kids acting hood. lol. Poor teachers didn’t stop the kid because why? They don’t get paid enough or treated good enough to care.
Thats the thing. Phones are probably banned at most these schools but the teachers are willing to take a punch in the head over enforcing it for $20,000 a year

In my state phones are banned in school. It goes away during school hours.
My 7 year old has an iPhone tbh. But it’s 100% locked down. No internet, no social media, no downloading apps, nothing like that.
He can text, call, and play a few games. It’s good because we can have life 360 on it to track him. He brings it to school where it sits in the backpack until after school.
I seen that,I like it. Kids worldwide must hate whoever made that phone.
So in some States in the US they are banned in schools then? I'm not sure quite what the rules are here, just that most of the schools allow it. I think a very small minority don't allow them on the premises but I get the feeling parents would kick up too much of a fuss over banning them so they don't attempt to.
I agree on banning but not on school premises would tick me off. Especially if my kids in High school and they did that. I’d like to communicate with my teen about change of after school plans ya know?
Yeah some states when you get to school it goes in a special bag and put away! It’s such a pro and con thing. It’s bad for learning but I also understand some parents like tracking, like being able to communicate with their child too and not have them worry about going to the office to call.
So here’s a story. My sophomore year of HS, a friend of mine committed suicide that night before school. I didn’t know until I got to school that day, and the 1st period teacher told us while he cried. So I’m obviously emotional and I didn’t want to be at school and I went to the office to leave and it was chaos there with the state sending counselors and police and people to help.
Well thankfully I had my phone, I called my mom, told her and she picked me up. Had I not had my phone I would have had such a fuss calling my parents. This might never happen to my son but if he needs me, I want him to have the ability to call me. I need my mom at the time, and I got a hold of her.
