Face Masks - How do you find them??
In the U.K today Face Masks finally became mandatory pretty much everywhere when in the shops and takeaways - If you don't wear one the Police have the power to fine you £100 on the spot.
There are a few Supermarkets not willing to enforce the rule as well as Restaurants & bars where obviously you don't have to wear one in order to be able to eat and drink!! Lol
I was a bit mixed about it being forced upon us at first BUT I must admit - After just being out now and putting my new one on in the petrol station, supermarket and takeaway I much prefer the situation. It means everyone knows where they are at with it all I feel as we are all complying together with helping to stop the virus and more innocent people losing their lives ultimately.
Even in the supermarkets not enforcing the rule EVERYONE had them on which I feel is a good thing :-)
I must admit though guys, it is very warm here again and they are pretty stuffy to breathe in aren't they - I really wouldn't like the thought of having to wear one in the gym during some hardcore training!
How is everyone finding them that has to wear them to train in - What are your thoughts about them in general?

Over here UK Covid cases have just seen the hugest ever rise and it looks like we will go back into full lockdown again.
This is all still happening despite us all wearing masks in supermarkets, shops, petrol stations etc
If we are all now wearing masks how are the rates not falling - is it purely down to the pubs and restaurants still being open? Are the Masks just not that effective?

One MP said the military need to get involved when the vaccine comes and people who don’t have it won’t be allowed to do certain things like go to concerts or travel abroad! This will be the start of a digital health passport or as I see it a permanent way for the government to track your every move.
Look at the protests in London, no one wearing masks but no massive spike in infection, how’s that possible if masks are required to stop the spread?

0.5% is the world death rate, the U.K. is less than 0.1 which I get will still be a lot of people but the people going to die from missed cancer appointments etc will be a lot more.

If your under 60 yrs old and healthy, there is a bigger risk of drowning than dying from Covid (only 350 deaths since March)
The government put a do not resuscitate order on all care homes, when the virus started, they moved Covid positive patients into care homes, that caused an inflation in deaths in old people.
If you die from a heart attack and have tested positive for Covid, it goes down as Covid caused the death.
I wouldn’t say I’m anti vaccine but I am against this one, two of the vaccine volunteers from the oxford trial have developed forms of MS.
A vaccine is classed as successful if it’s 50% effective.
All vaccine makers have put in an indemnity clause so they can’t be held liable for any side effects, why would they do this if it was safe?
The recession we have been put in will cause problems for a generation, my friends are losing their businesses, my mum and dad might lose their house if another lockdown happens.

I hear you. Lots of what you say is true, but it doesn't answer the question of whether you are happy to risk your family to this thing.
There are around 3 measures of mortality. All vary across geography, all inaccurate for several reasons.
The WHO state the ifr, which you refer to is inaccurate as it changes, e.g. the .5 will be far higher in poor places.
So if you want to use a statistic that varies, you need to use them all.
So, what is the cfr in the UK? Somewhere around 2%?
(That number is usually higher by the end of a pandemic/outbreak.
My comments aren't necessarily aimed at your stance in personally taking a vaccine, of which we have none yet. They are so so at the flippant view any of us can have, of enough is enough.
The fact over here is, community transmissions are down low, thats where people are masking up and maintaining distance.
Outbreaks are up, where people have been socialising, working in groups, and at some schools (unsure if actually spread within the schools).

I get what your saying, I’m glad you are replying in a civil way, I like to talk about these sorts of things but it more often than not it ends up in an argument, that’s not my intention here mate.
As to my family or anyone else, I don’t want them to die or catch this but I don’t believe the rate of transmission is as high as it is.
Also, I don’t try and push my view on my family/friends, they are all responsible adults and can and should behave how they see fit.
My dads 65, obese and works as a taxi driver, hes barely took a day off but the lockdown meant he was earning less than £20 in a day, they are less than a year from being mortgage free but if these measure continue, they might not be able to afford to pay the mortgage payments and lose everything he’s worked his whole life for.
The covid tests have been proven as unreliable, a lot of false positives and inconclusive tests.
I certainly don’t trust anything that comes from the WHO, they are bought and paid for by China, look at the lies they told when this first kicked off.

The key is hospital admissions and they are not going up at the same rate as infection.

I think I’ll continue without my mask. I’ll wear one if I have to and won’t make a big deal. However if I’m not being asked to wear one I’m not doing it. I know someone first hand who was diagnosed with Covid two times due to symptoms they were having and almost died before making their doctor look for other illnesses and come to find out she had a bacterial infection from wearing a mask all day.. go figure.

Looks like things are taking a turn for the worst again over here - From Monday we are not allowed to meet in more than groups of 6, with Pubs in some areas being forced to close again.
Personally I think they should just close all the Pubs & Restaurants again until this thing is properly under control, people just cannot control themselves when it comes to distancing from what I've seen.
The government eff'd it up, if you look at the stats, the increase in cases aligns with the "eat out to help out" scheme and also when they pretty much ended all the restrictions. We went from 3 digit figures prior to August back up to now 4 digits numbers again.
Now they'll scapegoat young people as "flouting the rules" even though there the first to return to education and also likely to work in hospitality and entry level jobs with more likelihood of exposure.
I think we should leave the clubs and restaurants open so they can survive.
We should club those who can't socially distance responsibly.

In my gym it's required to wear one walking into and out of the building but not while working out...not much sense there. They do check your temperature before you're let in and all equipment is cleaned before and after use. I never used to wear gloves but I have been since they reopened

Amazing isn't it how use you can get to being able to lift certain poundages comfortably because you do it so routinely - then if you have to take a big amount of time off or get injured then go back after a few months you realise just how much you took it for granted. Makes you appreciate it all a lot more even if you are having to bust your ass off to get there! Bet your appetite tanked too, I know mine does even after just a few days lay off.
Oh for sure. The weight I was using before seemed like I was holding a damn truck off my chest when I first started back lol but thankfully it's all coming back. Yeah my appetite did drop as well while not training... muscles weren't craving the extra calories and protein

When covid was starting out and getting bad..., the hospital my wife works in refused to let them wear masks.
They felt it would scare the patients. This was before the government stated that people should wear masks.
But people working in the hospital all knew it was for everyone's benefit if they wore a mask.
But the CEO just cared about the imagine of wearing a mask and nothing to due with medical research.
Next thing they were covered from head to toe in PPE's..,if they could get them.

I almost never get sick unless I’m around sick people with multiple days of sleep deprivation, and I have no pre existing conditions. I don’t want to get anyone else sick or kill them through indifference.
