+ 9 Goals, Desires and Aspirations for Xmas & The New year
I think we can all agree this past year has been Horrendous for anyone - especially those of us involved in the Bodybuilding & Weightlifting world. Continual gym closures, gear & customs delays and even general supplements arriving on time has made our sport even harder than it already is when pushing and dedicating yourself to achieve the best you can be.
So what are everyone's short or long term goals coming into this Xmas and going on into the New Year? Mine is currently just to mend this tweaked pec that I am suffering from for the first time ever in lifting. Never thought it would happen to me as the saying goes but it seems the more years you lift for the more the body gradually wears down over time :( Is anyone else currently rehabbing an injury too and how are you getting on?

covid19 has proved that everything around us is so temporary..
Just hoping things will get back to normal soon so that we can hit the gym without any lockdowns.. and a holiday trip trying to live our normal lives..

For me its about the knees and cardio. My knees are gone for good now, so its looking like i need to start swimming again, something like that

I would just start with a hope, that things will get back (at least partly) back to normal. As my goals has not changed at all, I just did not get a chance to reach them. Not making any excuses, but the gap between potential and availability is huge at the moment

I got a shoulder and 14 year old daughter that are causing pains. Both seem hopeless at times, hopefully time and smart decisions will ease my pain. The wife and my youngest try to kill each other constantly.
Sounds like a fun house, and about as nuts as ours is haha.
I got 2 other kids that are damn near perfect. But the youngest is a monster and when she is pissed she makes sure the whole house knows it. The older kids call her Lucifer.
Love it lol, my 4 year olds as mad as a box of frogs. Then the daughter holds the speaking world record. They play the wife up like mad, then good for me does make me chuckle. I can't do quiet so works well haha.
I wish I could tell you it gets easier.

My lower back injuries keep me from hitting any deadlifts and I have to keep it light on Squats.
Just make sure you let it heal up properly the first time bro , you do not want this to become a recurring injury I have re-inured my back three times now being a dumb ass.
My goals are to find a Loyal woman and make more money.
MightyMatt812What’s up fam it’s been awhile for me almost 2yr ago underwent surgery on my shoulder. It took me long time to rehab after re injuring but finally these past 6 months Ben able to lift weight again and feel like normal in these not normal times the shutdowns haven’t affected me too much as I got decent amount of equipment at home. Been sticking to the basics the old tried and tested Arnold big 6 workout 4xwk. cardio and abs in between. Lost a lot while I was injured but looking to get better than I was before gonna stick to the old school way with a test and deca blast and see where it goes
Was it a proper tendon tear or impinged mate?

Doc told me to take it easy after surgery then like 3 months after I felt good was pushing too hard in rehab and boom tore it worse and couldn’t do shit for dam near a year it’s been tough but was given the all good. Don’t think I’m gonna go lift heavy weight again but still will push it as hard as I can and see where it goes I know it’s gonna be some time still and not sure if I will ever be 100% but dam sure gonna try
Whats the best thing to go off to know if you are okay to train again - MRI scan, no bruising/swelling or just general feeling when lifting such as pain and uncomfortableness?
MightyMatt812I would say all of the above. I think the biggest thing is time tho. MRI came back good it still does have swelling but then I dropped weight and was good. It’s not really pain for say but can feel different. I’m just lucky I didn’t tear my bicep too it was just slight, everything above was fucked tho. Making leaps and bounds now just gotta convince myself I’m no spring chicken anymore shit takes a lot longer to heal

Molinin302Faith is a great word. Everyone has their own beliefs. But have faith. Even if someone believes in nothing, be faithful to nothing. Gives some validation and value to the daily efforts. Myself? I'm non denominational, but I have to believe a God exists. And souls that leave us live on. I can't explain why I'm still here without faith. (Non religious faith). The odds don't add up. I wasn't always a good guy. Or was I ?
AnonEveryone has some faith. Faith of some kind. If I want to get to the top of a building it's gonna take some faith. If I take the elevator I'm having faith it's in working order and I'm not gonna fall to my death. If I take the stairs I'm having faith they're not a death trap either. If I free climb the exterior of the building to the top, that's faith in myself.

I rested my injuries for the 5 or so months the gyms where shut down. Got back in light weight and worked bacj uo and so far injury free since july.
Now for christmas im gona spend it with close family and my 3 boys. And my new love of a girlfriend our first christmas togeather. Great topic how much is it okay to spend on your first Christmas with a new love.

Mine this year is to better myself everyday. Even the smallest things. 2021 has to be better than 2020. Can't get much worse.

All Great stuff mate, this has shown us all you never know what is round the corner. Who would have thought we would have all been walking around the supermarket wearing surgical masks when buying our food?! Now its just completely normal.

Definitely a new world we all step into now, whether we accept it or not. Loved ones lost, tough times found and to be had. Just gotta do our best mate ain't we, these times I do appreciate communitys like this. We all have our ups and downs, nice to have this tho and good post was needed.

Exactly, virtually anything you want in life is possible if you have enough willpower to follow and chase it
It will be tough at times but nothing comes without hard work and a bit of suffering along the way lol It all makes it so much more worthwhile too when you achieve what you are after.
I ment to tell you this earlier. I didn’t tear the same muscle, it tore my back doing bent over rows. My chiropractor used a tens unit on my back when they were a little less common, and I think it accelerated my recovery. I was on cycle too that that probably helped. He said it would reduce my recovery to two weeks and I was better and back at it in two weeks. So if you don’t already have one you can pick up one that will give you coverage on your pec for between $30 and $50. Only thing is the sooner, the better. It increases blood flow to the area speeding up healing. Also reduces pain, but I figure you can handle the pain so long as you aren’t using your pec. You can ice it simultaneously over the pads. I think as you age, in hindsight, it is best to fully rehab your injuries as best you can and don’t stop just when the pain subsides, otherwise it becomes one of those permanent nagging things that diminishes performance. Don’t try to go 100% too soon.

Also Bud, I'm sure you'll know the answer to this. If its important to keep blood flow to the muscle high for it to recover and get nutrients then how can it be beneficial to ice it as surely this will decrease it and make it cold?
