New NPC division for men
ad
Just heard about this today, a new mens division that lands between physique and bodybuilding, called "classic physique".
I think this is a great idea. What does everyone else think about this new division?

So, they are making up a new division that has height and weight restrictions. I guess I am now officially considered a bodybuilder because I am too heavy for my height to be considered as a "classic physique". I think this is a bad idea. It going to water down the sport all in the attempt for the NPC to make more money. Who is going to want to sit through an already lengthy show just to look at "little" bodybuilders now, or should I call them "big" physique competitors instead.
I agree fellas makawa had a post of why he didnt place well in physique i stated there and ill state again echoing trens statments below theres different fucking weight classes in bodybuilding if your not big enough enter the lighter classes if you still not big enough for those classes go take up running or swimming or crossfit or knitting ...quit watering down our sport with board short bullshit
I'm on the same with Trenababolc and Tony! They have taken the sport I love and turned it into a circus all for the almighty dollar! What's next the transgender/transvestite division! That'll pack in the arena! Smh!
Just took attending a pro show off my bucket list!
I think this will enable the younger guys in physique to continue to compete as they put on size as they age. It will hopefully result in more guys competing in bodybuilding over time. Start out in men's physique, keep juicing and getting bigger, go to classic physique, keep juicing and getting bigger, graduate into real bodybuilding. I think this is why we see so few bodybuilders onstage. It takes so many years to have a real competitive bodybuilding body. These new classes allow guys to compete as they progressively add more size.
so its not for trees or twigs, its in between, sticks.
gotta be better than australian comps, twigs, twigs and more twigs,
naturally skinny girls with no muscle.
tiny ripped dudes weighing 80kgs all abs.
fkn mouths on twigs lol.
I think it's bull shit. Man the F up and bodybuild, there are weight classes there's no excuse. I hate going to shows now. I not only have to sit threw bikini but men's physique is just ridicules and now this smh. The powers that be want money plain and simple and since kids now days want it now (men's physique) they will get there cash:
Agreed!
I tried to contain myself and not be soo open and blunt but I am on the same shit bro. The big shows I want to suck om the barrel of a gun 80 bikini competitors its like a white wash lol they all look the same after awhile....add in men's physique and now this I might not be going to many unless I have a friend or client in it.....fucking sad.
I prep a lot of local guys man. I have to sit threw men's physique. There's like 50 competitors in each class and there are like 10 different classes . Then they bring out bikini omg. Bodybuilding take 30min max, shit gets old
Its like a white wash after the first 10 the next 60 all look the same. I get up and leave usually and go eat.
I think it's a way for them to continue to reward the blocky, huge gut physiques, but also try to please the folks calling for a return to aesthetics. And I agree with Tony, it's all a huge cash grab.
Without even seeing the conditioning of the guys at the Olympia this year, I can tell you the top 5 or 6 already. Not in exact order, but we all know it'll be Dennis, Shawn, Dex, maybe Big Ramy, with Phil and Kai taking the top 2 spots. Something wrong with a show when we all know who's gonna finish at the top before the show. Politics and $$$.
I don't think you want to hear my opinion. I think the npc and ifbb are getting greedy now the new entry fees will be insane they will be making a ton more profit which is what they're all about. I mean you go to a show, a real show not some local yokel potato classic and theres well over a 100 bikini competitors , 50 or so figure chics , mens physique which is like womens bikini now, womens physique is usually under 20 , female bodybuilding under 10 and mens bodybuilding usually under 15 to 20. So now we will have a new class? For what? For guys who don't have the dedication for bodybuilding who wont put their nose to the grindstone to get the size , proportions and come in hard and grainy? It will be like mens physique without the board shorts doing more than 4 poses..... One or the other. Than you will have guys crossing over from mens physique to classic physique. Honestly sounds like a shit show to me.......
Moved to off topic.
sorry about the wrong section. And you had me laughing out loud at that local yokel potato classic!!! I have no opinion on this yet, so ya I wanted to hear what some of the more experienced vets have to say because I've never even been to a BB/NPC show.
If you watch the video (don't, it's a waste of time) the officials do state that some pros from physique will elect to go the new division, with the addition of "feeder" sources or national NPC qualifiers. I believe he said they would waive the fee to hold the show during the first year, and that they'll give out a few more pro cards per show than normal, in order to get the division going.
