Do we have any old school fans here?
I think the last new bands that I've liked are Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters...after them haven't found anything that's been worth listening.
I'm open to suggestions so let them come.
Most of the time I'm still stuck with the great bands of 70's & 80's,

If you're a drummer, note style, DB drum bpm (NOT supplemented by triggers), and fills (especially 1:07-1:10, 2:07-2:12)...freaking great.

Does ANYONE listen to Revocation??? For those of you with an appreciation for complex, hard hitting, creative, multi-rhythmic, tight drumming and guitar riffs, do yourself a favor and check em out! As far as the "vocals", eh... I'm neither for nor opposed. I mostly listen for the aforementioned instruments. I used to think Chris Adler was among the best until I heard Phil Dubois Coyne from Revocation... Man... Guy's drumming raises my heart rate... In a good way! . Scorched Earth Policy and The Blackest Reaches are a good place to start. If you like(d) the subject matter covered by L.O.G., Revocation is also a "social criticism" group. Another not well known band that's not getting enough credit/Acknowledgement for their talents and abilities. I'll post a few YouTube links in a bit.
ArmedI listen to them. If you like them you may like Arsis, Quo Vadis, Bloodshot Dawn, The Crown if you haven't heard them already.

Tony, if you have never given the Misfits a listen I highly recommend them a well. The Album Walk with Us would be a good starting point
Of course I've listened to the misfits brother got 3 or 4 t-shirts also lol.
StevebSamhain?
Good deal, just throwing down what I am into lately.:)
Check out doyle von frankensteins ( original misfit guitarist), new album..doyle. pretty good. Also, if you have not, youtube danzig and doyles first show together in a long time..i believe it was in 2006..in chicago or philly..30 min. Misfit set, brutal show.
Good stuff. Doyle Von Frankenstein is just an awesome dude. And obviously believes in the body building culture. I hear he is a vegetarian but I don't know how he could possibly be and have that much mass..
Vegetarian..i know right? I heard he is too..he has gotta eat some meat to keep that size!!
:(
RIP Phil Taylor

Everybody..and i mean EVERYBODY here owes to this guy...Without him Metal of today wouldn´t exist.
Who's got tickets to se COC? I do!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yxx5FOXcIl8
Going to see COC this month. Saw Pepper with Down. This summer. Awesome
Right on!
Just started listening to them. Damn good band bro. Any others? I'm a metal head as you know. Always looking for new music to listen to on job sites.
StevebThey used to tour with Tad back in the day. If you like COC you'll like Tad too
https://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=W_1-NSe1fLU
I know a lot of bros that like COC also are into Cutch pretty heavy too. I like Clutch but am not a rabid fan like I am for COC. And you know you listen to Deliverance , In the Arms of God or Wiseblood (albums) and they are every bit as relevant as they were 20 years ago. In my Harley my Deliverance CD stays in the CD player forever.
A band that I just started listening too that I discovered on my Itunes feed is Killing Joke, That self titled album from like 78 is fucking awesome.

StevebThey remind me of ministry because they sound completely different from when they first started.
I am still on the self titled album. I will start venturing out soon. They are so hard to classify.
There aren't many that I would put up with these guys , that is for sure.
I didn't even know they were still around.
That's because they weren't, not for ten years anyway. Last winter they got together and started touring Europe. I and many others pissed and moaned up a storm that they weren't playing here, lol, now they are
Ive always liked them. Looked it up but they're not coming to my area.
I'm going to see phantom of the opera, broadway across america. I know. What a puss, but my wife is really in to theater and she got me hooked. Some of it's really cool, some of it really sucks. We pick and choose what we go to.
StevebGot tickets to Iron Maiden
Damn. Now I'm jealous. I was checking the tour out earlier today. I'll be out of town for the month when they come here, and they hit the state I'll be in the day after I come home. Fate's a bitch sometimes. I've wanted to see them for many long years now
I have a feeling they will be sticking together for awhile this time.
Anything by Dio! Ronnie James was a metal God! 80s hair metal is still awesome! Check out the house of hair hosted by dee Snyder...it rocks!
The sabbath albums with Dio are awesome. I have really been hitting Children of the sea hard in my rotation "look out!!"
But I have really been on a Rammstein kick the last few weeks. This Apple streaming is the shit
Dio's Sacred Heart tour concert was the first ever rock show I attended so I have found memories of him.
I don't think he produced so good music in his latter years but nevertheless he came up with so many classics that every one who wants to educate themselves on metal music should check out his catalog.
Throwdown=Badass
anyone heard the new lamb of god album yet?
I've heard a couple songs, seems pretty solid. I'll be seeing them with slipknot, motionless in white and Bullet for my valentine next Saturday, can't wait I've had the tix for 6 months now
AnonStoked about BFMV new album. Reminds me of poison with the riffs and cords. MIW is the shit. Drew a lot of inspiration from Marilyn Manson just heavier. LOG new album is amazing compared to their last two. Slipknots new album was much needed on the metal scene IMO. Every member agreed that The Grey Chapter was their best sence Iwoa and if the band broke up they'd be happy with this album. 5FDP new album hopefully goes back to their heavier chords and vocals such as their first two albums. Also check out the band Breakdown Of Sanity if you've never heard of them. The BEST all around band I've heard since Slipknot. Strong vocals, clean screams, amazing instrumentation all around. Oh and look up Upon A Burning Body. Another distinct voice in the metal world. I'm happy Disturbed is back for this new album because the last was a dissapoinment. Hopefully it's better than the single they have out.
The Sword has a new album coming out. Them dudes rock like hell.
The sword is awesome....seen them a few times live. Just got my tickets for mastadon and corrosion of conformity for holloween night.
Need to pay attention to Sword more, heard couple of tracks.
Reminds me a bit of Monster Magnet, one of the best bands ever.
Their awesome man especially live.....big noise, big guitar type of band. Just all out Jame session
Disturbed has a new album coming out, the first single the vengeful one is awesome

He needs to hang it up. In concert he was horrible last time I saw him two shows after he dropped out of the tour. It was sevendust then disturbed and horn was the headliner. David dramins voice was cracking, he was out of breath out of shape etc etc. Best album was the first. Now they're all the same no song sticks out vocals wise. Great riffs and what not but after that you've lost me lol. Just my opinion.
I've never seen them live to be honest, but I always enjoyed them. I like the new song, but that could be just a case of being their first new song in a while. Time will tell, I wouldn't buy the album unless I heard a couple more songs I liked. They have always been the 'b'squad for ny music line up. Someone I like, but wouldn't rush to see live or buy the album etc.
On a side note, how was seven dust live? They are on my list of bands I absolutely want to see live. I saw Korn last year, they were still good, same as when I saw then 10 years ago
Sevendust was ten times what disturbed was onstage, non point was also, korn always puts on a good show especially because they have head back in the band pretty sure they're working on another new album also. David dramin needs to get back in shape and stop making studio music as his music is tough to perform live. Every album shouldn't sound the same lol. His first album was great.
They do have the same spund, I agree 100 percent. Even Device, his side project sounded like disturbed. I have high hopes for the new album, but we'll see. I'd love to see nonpoint. I left a band off my list that I really like, Gemini Syndrome. They are awesome live as well, saw them open for 5FDP
Saw Gemini syndrome they were good not great but good. Device made me want to put a gun in my mouth lol. 5FDP was great in concert.
StevebDisturbed is horrible on the radio too.
