STOP eating fish.
ad
2-400 metric tons of radioactive water is being dumped into the ocean from Fukushima daily.
That's a very shitty situation. Very high levels of radiation in almost all fish, and getting worse by the day. Salmon and Tuna are apparently the worst.
I'm dropping it permanently.

The amazing thing is that the melt downs happened in 2011. Alaska,Hawaii and scattered States across the United States including Florida have received dose of radiation from this. They have already found that it has raised cancer rates in Alaska. I am not a big the end of the world is coming but the end of the world as we know it is just a few earthquakes away. Already they have recorded spikes in radiation across the US in milk.Lately there have been several earthquakes in weird areas like Dallas Texas area. Will these get worse? Is the Nuclear power plants that are all over the USA built to withstand a quake? The United States has had around 8 sever nuclear problems with the worse being 3 mile island. We do not even need a mad man to set of a nuclear disaster. Just a guy doing his job that makes a couple wrong steps. As far as being safe because you live on the other side of the US remember there is radioactive shit blowing your way when the wind is right and the polluted water is coming your way. They need to cap that reactor with a shitload of sand lead and concrete like they did in Chernobyl. After that worry about the ground water. I would rather eat a plate of oil than deal with radiation. There will be a huge increase in cancer, birth defects and Young kids dying at a early age. Not just California but all over US.
as much as I love fish, shellfish, etc. The BP thing fucked with my head. I used to live in the NE area,
and eating fish is part of the life. I live in the midwest now and eating fish is not an every day thing any more. I used to eat a lot of tuna..sort not doing that any more. Beef,Chicken,Pork have beat me into
the ground on those flavors. (even) being wicked cheap.
The current situation we are all in, east and west coast is no laughing matter. My honest opinion is if you don't raise it or grow it don't eat it! Even if you have a little backyard you could raise enough chicken to supply yourself with good food. Hey and check this out! You can use there poop to help grow awesome vegetables that taste way better than store bought.
Raise your own will not help. All the water that fills ponds run on the ground and fall from the sky. This is how the radiation is forced down to the ground. This is why milk had a spike in radiation through out the US.
I'm all for the grow your own..for sure.!!
If I stop eating Fish my girlfriend is leaving me!
Pretty sure this mostly applies to people on the west coast... I'm on the east coast >
Terrible thing though..
BigBmajI know it's a huge problem. Eventually all the water will mix. I'm not sure on the specifics as far a currents, fish migration, fish lifespan,etc..
I think this radiation situation makes Syria look like a minor issue. I've been telling people about the run off from Fukushima and few people even knew about it. They have already found radioactive isotopes in the rain in the Midwest from this shit. So it's certainly a worldwide problem.
And with BP the entire Gulf of Mexico is polluted to the max.
It's getting harder to find clean food.
Oh yeah it does make syria look like a small issue.. But focusing on not ruining our water supply would just makes too much sense
good thing im not a fan of fish to begin with =P
Its really sad whats really happening in the pacific.i was looking at the contaminated areas on the map ,and the highest concentration zones seem to be where the salmon swim.i for one will not eat anythying from the pacific.Thankfully i live in s fla,and snook season just opened ,so no need to buy fish, although we have our own issues down here, but nothing even comparable to pacific problems.
I love scallops, but haven't had a one since the BP fiasco.
Thankfully im on the east coast, but we still have nitrogen blooms from the sugarcane runoff which tends to leave lesions on the fish you might catch, plus worms have been an issue with sea trout.I fish the beach and reefs when i can.Its crazy how different snook look when theyre beachside opposed to intracoastal snook.i just got back from snook slayin ,but none were slot fish.:(
Do you live near a pond/lake or creek? You could start catching and eating them
Damn! But big b, I gotsta have my fish! I get so damn tired of eating chicken. It's almost worth the third testicle isn't it?
Huhh!..... you say that like 3 isnt the norm lol........ silly man
When we say "scratch our balls".... you do mean all 3 right?
Of course! But you can't fool me. We all know that you have at least 10 testicles.
LOLLL
BigBmajI'm sooo sick of chicken too. Grass fed beef I guess.
Slightly different problem over here in UK bro... the seas are fished out!.... its far cheaper to buy prime red meat than fish these days.. its a fkn joke the prices they are charging for cod, haddock etc...... for years my pre-comp diet was always white fish but this year i went purely turkey.. no fish whatsoever.
I refuse to pay the price for past greed over-fishing the seas.
Europe has already received huge dose of radiation from Chernobyl in 1986. Swedish power plant workers went to work and set off the alarms in the building that alert when to much radiation is around. They received the radiation just driving to work. Because the Russians would not come out and say anything this is how the world found out that there was a problem.
One of the things that I really couldn't understand when this all went down was that Japan said, "Oh we will deal with it" and the rest of the world breathed a sigh of relief that they didn't get dragged into 'someone else's problem' with respect to containment and treating the contamination.
Well it is now all of our problem. For generations to come.
I agree. America is the pioneers of nuclear power. We should be there helping. At this point anyone smart is no where near it.
