+ 2 Fast and Intense Leg Workout

ad

This will no doubt be the hardest workout I give you. Hyperion and I were discussing this on pm so thought others may benefit. Before you start, be very clear this is going to hurt. I've had many people tell me they'll breeze throughout, I'm strong on legs etc only to wave the white flag half way through. This, more than any other session, is all about your mental strength. And for all you big strong boys, let me tell you the ladies cope with this much better.....

Warm up. Personally I'd sit on a bike got five minutes.

Superset leg press / squat / leg extension / hack squat or front squat. Big reps, 25 reps each, go round 4 times. 400 reps through your quads.

Then stiff legged dead lifts super set with hamstring curls x3, (I alternate lying and seated). I'd be looking at something like 30, 20, 15 reps. 130 hamstring reps. Be honest, you begrudgingly do 3x 10 at best normally eh?

Next seated calf raise superset with standing calf raise x3. Stay in the 20-30 rep range here. Last set on each calf raise machine should be lowered to a light weight, 1 minute of continuous reps. Should be around 40 reps or so.

Volume, not weight. Should be done in an hour or less. I'd say 45-50 minutes. More time, you're pissing around too much. Stop chatting, get it done, get out and recover. The more you sit down between sets, the harder it's going to be to get up.

Sorry about the next day and the "John Wayne walk".

Did I just read that right ? Superset all those quad exercises for total of 400 reps!! Holy pump ! Your insane, but I'm going to give this one a run!! Can't imagine the calories burnt during this routine!! It will be a perfect compliment to my next high carb day!! Get in, kill it then feed the beast!!

You did, hard work, especially when you're carrying too much weight. My quads are sooooooorrrrrrreeeeeeee this morning, John Wayne walk to the extreme.

John Wayne walk... Lol!!

They're fine as long as I don't try and bend them in any way.

Wouldn't that be more of a Frankenstein walk?

Varies mate. Bulking, maybe once every 4 or 5 weeks. Trimming down / prep probably every other workout.

I typically have a rest day after legs as t des take it out of you. Not all the time, depends how I feel. Not been to the gym this morning, although that was largely due to work bullshit, (that's a scientific term btw).

Have a question, what's the 1 rep max % for these supersets? What works best for you?

On that first 4 exercise superset, I'd be looking st around 35-40%, no more, possibly even slightly less as its effectively a 100 rep set.

Edit - so I ran through the quads section of this plan this morning pretty much as written to check. Guesstimating was about right, about a third of 1RM. Doesn't sound like much but my quads are still like jelly 4 hours later.

I'm in pain just thinking about this lol. Last week I was supersetting hack squats with leg press and that was killer. Could hardly walk after getting out of the leg press let alone go so 50 more reps lol. Leg days tomorrow im gonna give this a shot. Wish me luck. If you don't hear back assume the worst.

Did this yesterday.

I literally cannot walk up stairs today. Bending my knees and stretching my quads is completely out of thee question.

Sometimes I wonder why I do this to myself........

I'll try it thank you

Funnily enough a lot of people only ever train kegs with me once for some strange reason.....

italian92101's picture

Nobody wants to train with me either, cause I do legs 2 times a week back and front Smile

Imagine that... Your chest and shoulder routine was enough for me but I'm gonna do it again this week
