Modified paleo vs carb cycling...

ad

Hey guys

I hear lots of things about both of these diets. First, let me explain what paleo means when I use it: no dairy, carbs coming only from what's in the veggies/yams/sweet potato/. Almond milk for shakes, whey protein still ok, etc.

Countless of people have said that is the best diet to run, yet my old school thoughts bring me back to what I have read about carb cycling. So, here is the question: Do I run a modified version of paleo which is basically carbs either first thing in the morning if a non training day or carbs only after weight training session....vs.....carb cycle (2700 calories low day with a ratio of 20% fats/30% carbs/50% protein-that is done for 3 days consecutive<>then 3900 calories high day with a ratio of 15% fat/35% protein/50% carb-done 1 day).

Carb cycle is a 3 day lower calorie then 1 day maintenance calorie. So, in a weeks time, I would have 2 days of higher calories, one of which would be where my cheat meal would be.

Seems people make a strong argument for not needing carbs really in your body, but then I keep reverting back to carbs are fuel and provide my muscle with the necessary glycogen (which contains water as well).

Im a bit confused and am a little worried about the fat intake (even though it is poly & monounsaturated) with paleo type diets.

My cardio is scheduled as such: am & pm sessions on monday/tuesday/thursday. am sessions only on wednesday/saturday. Weight training is monday/tuesday/off wednesday/thursday/friday/saturday/off sunday.

following Haney's fst7 type workout, with my personal touches on it.

So, anyone care to share their opinion on paleo type diets vs carb cycling 190 grams a day on my low days, to 425-450 grams on my high days...?
