kdney function test estimated gfr read this

when you go to get your kidney function checked the lab might do a "spot" test where you pee in a cup and they take an estimate from that - it has been shown that this tes is unsuitable for certain types of people including bodybuilders - and you could get a false positive for stage 1 kidney failure -due to the higher creqatinine in our bodies ,
the 24 hour pee test is the only acceptable way of accurately testing us as bodybuilders or anyone with extra mass/muscle because it looks at how much creatinine our kidneys are passing as oppose to the quick test that shows our blod cretinine is higher than normal - duh ...

your statement is partially correct however high protein diets ,larger body mass and intense workouts will put your creatinine past the referance range by up to 10% , by the way ask your doctor about thw type of individual the serum craetinine test was based on - they used a male with ideal height/weight bmi, not a guy who trains and has added 80 pounds of muscle to his body ,and eats accordingly - you'll kno wyour okay when the urine collection comes back high indicating your kidneys are working at full speed - your just overtraining ,some time off and hydration will have you back in shape in no time in fact i cleared right up to a high normal gfr for my age -traininand diet vs pneumonia not the same thing at all -in fact many trainers of kids will send home notices to parents warning them tht there doctor might try to convince them their kids are dying from weight lifting
Bro, I am a competitive bodybuilder with a supraphysiological amount of muscle mass that eats a very high protein diet and does grueling workouts. When I'm not using chemicals that irritate my kidneys, creatinine is always high normal, not outside of it, as it should be. You can say the sun rises in the west, stamp your feet and throw a tantrum about it or join the flat earth society even - the reality is not ever gonna change.
Glad to hear you are OK bro.
Done! Just fantastic.
Oh boy, watch out bro. I almost lost both kidneys as a complication from pneumonia when I was hospitalized in February of this year so testing kidney function is something quite familiar to me.
First a 24 hour urine creatinine test is more accurate than the serum blood test as you say.
HOWEVER, even for a bodybuilder, serum creatinine in the blood should be at the high end of the normal range (0.76-1.27 mg/dL), not outside it. Same for BUN - Blood Urea Nitrogen (6-24 mg/dL). Ranges are US Labcorp.
Creatinine is a waste product from the muscles as they work. When you workout heavy in a gym, your blood creatinine is gonna rise but it will be eliminated by healthy kidneys. That means, you should wait a day or 2 after working out before getting a blood kidney test. Taking creatine as a supplement is also gonna raise creatinine slightly. The more muscle you are carrying, the more creatinine for sure but it's not gonna be so high as to look like kidney failure.
If your BUN is high - your kidneys' filtering function is impaired or you are simply dehydrated. Make sure you are really hydrated before doing any kidney function testing.
There are other numbers to watch for with kidneys like albumin, calcium, carbon dioxide, phosphorus, potassium, and sodium levels that are all impacted by properly functioning kidneys.
Steroids, particularly orals, stress the kidneys directly, or really stress the liver which stresses the kidneys. The kidneys are not as robust as the liver and the pictures that birdbear27 showed in the following link
of Paul Dillet and Flex Wheeler are from kidney failure.

The bottom line here is that if your serum creatinine is high on a blood test it needs swift and detailed follow up. If you want the first follow up to be a 24 hour urine creatinine clearance test, that sounds like an excellent idea. If that still comes up high and u r on-cycle - eliminate the orals and retest - if it won't come down, get off, wait a few weeks and retest and if it's still high, that's the earliest stage of damage and one would really need to rethink a lot of things.
Awesome response bro! Text book knowledge and real life application combined! Loved it
