-1 TRT questions
I'm new to this board, and really looking more at replacement levels than for bodybuilding. Started TRT last March going in with a test level of 229. Went on the gels(Axiron) and level dropped to 197. Tried Testim for a while and levels still low. I was referred to an Endo who wanted to do more blood work and put me back on the gels. I decided to take matters into my own hands and self treat with test cyp injections. My question is how much to inject, and how often? I've read enough to establish that 200 mg. every two weeks is not the way to go. I was thinking 85-100 mg. every 5 to 7 days with an AI on hand just in case. Any thoughts, anyone? On a side note-What the fuck is wrong with the endos in this country? I've learned more lurking on these boards than in a doctor's office.

Oh...forgot to mention. Have a look at androids.org.uk. A really good website developed for TRT guys and families. This has a better forum though, but the information on andriods is second to none.
GP's and Endocrinologists are not Andrologists. Most specialists fields are diabetes (Type 1 & 2) and don't know the first thing about male androgens. Tbh, my view is most endocrinologists are androgen denyers if anything.
I had testicular cancer in 2001/2 and subsequently lost the offending testicle and was subject to weeks of agressive radiotherapy, with no protection offered for my remaining testicle. A few months into 2002 and I was feeling like shite. Weight loss but with an increase in fat deposition around the waist; poor sleep and night sweats; terrible concentration levels and lethargy; no morning erections or even thoughts of a sexual nature; nil libido; moody and depressed ...Just some of the symptoms of low testosterone.
My GP sent for full blood work and my total and free T levels were borderline low/normal. My doctor referred me to an endocrinologist who said my T levels were fine (well they were fine for a healthy 80+ year old male) but I was 31!!! The endo advised I make an appointment to see a psychiatrist but he said the problems were in my head because of my cancer experience. Utter bullpooh I told him. Anyway, my GP did another round of tests a few months later. This time they all came back as low, both total and free levels. The doc immediately stuck me on therapy. Started on Sustanon 250 every 4 weeks, but this was brought down to every 3 weeks. Basically, as washboard_abs said, these levels are merely paying lip service to the problem. On this dose I feel good for about 10 days of the 21 it has to last for.
Now there's problems with getting pharmacy supplies of the drug because Organon the makers of it are having problems. So now they've stuck me on Nebido, which is Testosterone Undeconoate 1000mg in a 4ml vial. That has to last me 12 weeks!! No good. I'm into week 8 now and thus the reason for me visiting this website: myself like so many others on TRT are reduced to going to UGL to source testosterone to maintain the really suitable doses for us as individuals.
What I'm saying is, listen to the experienced guys here, or the newbie anecdotes. Get some bloods drawn like washboard says and work out a dose and adjust over time. Just my opinion, but generally most guys I encounter feel that around 100mg/150mg of Testosterone Cnanthate (Enantate) or Cypionate is their favourite doseage. I agree with that. I'm hoping to dose myself with enathate 200mg every 10 days until Sustanon 250 production is renewed and then use the Sustanon 250 x every 3 weeks and top up with 50mg enantate or cypionate every week.
Don't let doctors tell you a low normal level IS normal. If you don't feel right it definately isn't. To get TRT takes a lot of GP visits and patience, and an assertive approach. If you are T deficient and would benenfit from therapy, the difference in a couple of weeks of your first jab is a revelation. Not for me but for my wife as well;) She couldn't walk properly for a week, but she had the biggest smile. Good luck!
Wow, very informative. Thanks for sharing. I'm delighted to see that bros on here have a lot of substance.

Getting your levels up, whether for blast or for cruise, is an act of trial and error. Each man reacts differently to the same level of exogenous testosterone. At sub-300 levels, and assuming you're simply interested in long term "cruising" for TRT purposes (i.e., for qualify of life purposes), I would suggest injecting 200 to 300 mg of Testosterone Cypionate per week. At this level, most men feel a "kick" around the 5th week. You ask how it should "feel." Let me give you a first hand account. The therapeutic effects of the "kick" include engergy, sex drive, stiffer erections, stronger work ethics, decisiveness (as opposed to wishy-washy), and verbal fluency. The side effects of the "kick" include acne, oily skin, anger, hair loss and hair growth. Personally, the fascinating thing about "the kick" to me is that my speech and voice become more powerful and articulate... and less choppy.
Personally, if I were in your shoes, I would start at 300 per week of Test-Cyp, and do a blood test after Week 6. Being that Cypionate is a long ester, the 6th week is when your levels should more or less stabilize. At 200 to 300 mg per week, your total testosterone levels should come out to be 600-1000 on the 6th week. If you're outside this range, adjust your dosage accordingly. If you're in the middle at, say, 800, then continue with the same, exact dosage.
Do another blood test on week 16. If you're dosing right, you should stabilize at 900-1200 on week sixteen. 900-1200 is where you want to be in order to feel the energy and quality of life you felt when you were in your late teens or early 20's. If I were on TRT for the rest of my life, I'd want to be in this range. Anyway, if you're below this range on week 16, then increase the dosage. If you're above it, then tweak your dosage downward.
Lastly, please note that IMO, the test result on week 16 is a more accurate indicator of whether your dosage is correct than the test result from week 6. The reason is because at week 6, your testicles are still working, and thus your bloods show exogenous and indigenous testosterone COMBINED. By week 16, your HPTA has essentially shut down, and the levels at this juncture are levels achieved almost exclusively from exogenous testosterone.
As an aside, I recommend staying away from endos or pcp's (primary care physicians) for TRT, just as I recommend staying away from lawyers for cases where there's less than $100K at stake. They'll take your money, waste your time, and give you inadequate service. At the end of the day, you'll feel violated and abused as you're standing at Square One.
If you want to know how to get bloodwork done at labcorp or quest for about half the regular price, PM me and I'll show you. Alternatively, just do a google search for "cheap bloodwork."
Thanks, man. Really helpful.
Good luck bro. I'm glad you're "balsy" enough to take things in your hands. Being low T is a vicious cycle. You need to take action to get your life back, yet you don't have the drive, energy, or "guts" to take action BECAUSE of the low T. On top of that, you've got doctors, spouse, friends and family talking you out of it or dismissing or belittling your concerns, telling you its all in your head.
Prior to TRT my serum test was 280. When I first started at 100mg per week after the first month bloods came back 770. But once HTPA shutdown 100mg a week has me around 300-350 consistent for the past two years. My prescription reads 200mg E2W, but like most I do 100 per week. I don't know why, but I know folks on 200 E2W, that actually follow that protocol, and stay around 500. If I could do it all over I would have suggested to my doc to attempt a restart before starting TRT. And I agree with you about doctors. Most don't know shit about hormonal balance.
My Script for Cyp is 1ml\200mg every 2 weeks. 1 week after injection I was at 985 Test Serum. 100mg per week would keep you more consistent IMO.
How do you feel on week 2 approaching injection time?
I haven't followed their protocol since the blood test. When I was TRT\HRT Cruise it was 100mg Prop eod, 2iu HGH eod, so I stayed very stable.
My endo was real helpful. She said the norm is 50mg every week but, that is to establish a baseline. I got re-tested and she adjusted accordingly.
Any idea what your numbers were after 50 mg a week?
Also, maybe I was a little harsh on the endocrinologists. I'm just supremely frustrated. Low-T is killing me.
that was with test cyp 200mg/ml started out on phizer switched to costco recently they use watson
