Testosterone and fat loss?

ad

I'm on TRT (100mg test cyp. weekly) and want to burn fat and gain muscle. I'm trying to avoid any additional compounds however, I'm not opposed to increasing my dose. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Get on the right DIET for you and you should easily shed some pounds.
Remember DIET is the critical key to shedding fat,,,and gaining muscle.

The quickest way to lose fat is to lose it slowly, day in and day out, by the old fashioned:

  1. EAT LESS (diet).
  2. MOVE MORE (exercise).

Those two statements are "loaded sentiments" for some folks. Should I eat vegetarian? Paleo? High carb? Keto? Atkins?

Regarding exercise, should I lift more? Less? Run slow & long? Fast & short? Bike? Swim? Blah blah.

In the end, you know what you LIKE to do. So do that.

For "diet," I like eating meat and greens, so Paleo fits great. When it comes to fat loss, skip the sweets and focus on not drinking booze or other liquid calories.

For "exercise," I like walking for an hour with my dog & listening to comedy to let go of stress. (I don't include the gym, cuz for me, lifting is a "given.")

I hope this helps. You'll get there. And keep us posted, please! -ZeusM

Slow & long cardio sessions + Eat right = fat loss success
Lift weights properly + eat right = muscle gain success

This is my favorite reply.

Fasted morning cardio? 120/130bpm for 30 minutes? (Incline treadmill)

Basically what I'm wondering is, will increasing my dose help or hinder my attempt to loose fat.
I'm definitely not looking to do (large) amounts, just an optimal amount.

Testosterone is not a fat loss agent.

I respectfully disagree. I'm not saying testosterone will burn fat, but as a side affect it will push you harder in the gym and it helps maintain lean mass which helps burn fat.

So you need to run a cycle to be more motivated in the gym? You shouldn't need to worry about muscle loss until you start getting lower in body fat when it becomes more difficult to actually lose fat and you need to employ more drastic diet/cardio to keep burning fat off. So starting a cut cycle with a higher bodyfat is pretty much a waste of testosterone and will not make you lose fat any quicker. Save it for when you actually need to spare lean tissue.

Not a 'cycle', I'm on TRT. Just wondering if upping it a little would help. That's all.

Upping it and you would no longer be at a trt dose. You would be cycling. Don't see it helping much. Diet and cardio is where it is at during this stage of the game. No easy short cuts unfortunately. Just going to have to put in the time.

I was hoping you weren't right but I fear that you are, I'm not fat but I bet I'm over 20%B.F. . I just want to look good and have good time doing it. I'm sure you understand

This is going to take more fat off of you than playing around with your test dose.
